Il quarto round fa cenno all’imbattuto Gajser e al miglioramento di Evans
Agueda, in Portogallo, ospiterà questo quarto round del Campionato del mondo di motocross 2022, dove Tim Gajser del Team HRC cercherà di ottenere quattro vittorie di fila mentre cerca di estendere il suo vantaggio ai vertici della classe MXGP.
La pittoresca pista dura, un’ora a sud di Porto, non ha ospitato un round dal 2019 in cui Gajser è andato uno a uno, iniziando la sua serie di sette vittorie consecutive verso quello che era il suo terzo titolo mondiale. Ora, qualche anno dopo, il #243 spera che Agueda sia di nuovo gentile con lui mentre spera di mantenere viva la sua nuova serie di vittorie e aumentare il suo divario di punti dai 17 punti a cui si trova attualmente.
Anche il compagno di squadra Mitch Evans si recherà in Portogallo con fiducia, sapendo che nel 2019 è salito sul podio nella classe MX2, dopo aver ottenuto i suoi migliori risultati di quell’anno con 4-3 risultati di manche per il terzo posto assoluto. Combina questo con i suoi migliori risultati dell’anno l’ultima volta in Patagonia-Argentina e le cose sono decisamente in aumento per il giovane australiano.
Con il bel tempo questo fine settimana, i piloti dovrebbero potersi divertire a guidare ancora una volta la caratteristica terra arancione durante i due giorni. Al primo posto ci saranno le prove libere (11:20), seguite dalle prove cronometrate (14:00) che daranno il cancello d’ingresso per la gara di qualificazione di quel pomeriggio (17:00). Il risultato di quella gara determinerà quindi la scelta del cancello per le due manche a punteggio di domenica pomeriggio (14:15 e 17:10).

Mi sono sentito davvero bene in questa stagione, mi sono divertito molto nelle gare e penso che questo si stia dimostrando nei risultati. Ho vinto ogni round e sono arrivato primo o secondo in ogni gara, quindi sto mostrando la mia velocità e la mia costanza. Agueda è un’altra pista che mi piace e ho già vinto qui, quindi spero di poter continuare questa corsa e provare a ottenere anche la mia prima gara della stagione. Tutti nel team stanno lavorando sodo ed è fantastico ripagare quel lavoro con queste vittorie!

L’Argentina è stato un altro passo avanti per me, dimostrando che ho la velocità per combattere con i ragazzi in testa, quindi la scorsa settimana ho cercato di continuare quella progressione e lavorare solo per estendere quella velocità sempre più nella manche. Ho visto una foto davvero interessante di noi piloti Honda che giravamo insieme alla prima curva, con Tim che ha ottenuto l’holeshot e io non molto indietro ed è il genere di cose che voglio fare sempre di più, salire lassù e dimostrare che merito di essere nella parte anteriore e iniziare a ottenere i miei colpi. Questi primi round sono stati tutti su piste che mi piacciono e Agueda è un altro su cui ho ottenuto buoni risultati in passato, quindi è bello andare lì con uno stato d’animo sicuro.

È stato un viaggio lungo, ma di successo in Argentina, quindi ora tutti avevano bisogno di un paio di giorni per riprendersi da quel viaggio. Ora, però, siamo completamente concentrati sul Portogallo e manteniamo questa sensazione. Fare un holeshot per Tim è stato un grande impulso per il team e per la Honda, poiché mostra quanto sia potente la Honda CRF450R e ora abbiamo un premio, vogliamo ottenerne il maggior numero possibile. Entrambi i piloti sono contenti della stagione e vogliono fare altre due gare solide questo fine settimana.

Round four beckons for undefeated Gajser and improving Evans
Agueda, Portugal is the host for this fourth round of the 2022 Motocross World Championship, where Team HRC’s Tim Gajser will look to make it four wins in a row as he tries to extend his lead at the top of MXGP class.
The scenic hard-pack track, an hour south of Porto hasn’t hosted a round since 2019 where Gajser went one-one, starting off his seven-race win streak on his way to what was his third world title. Now, a few years later, the #243 is hoping that Agueda is kind to him again as he hopes to keep his new win-streak alive and increase his points gap from the 17 points it currently stands at.
Team mate Mitch Evans will also head to Portugal with confidence, knowing that in 2019, he stood on the podium in the MX2 class, after he produced his best results of that year with four-three moto finishes for third place overall. Combine this with his best results of the year last time out in Patagonia-Argentina and things are definitely on the rise for the young Australian.
With the weather looking good this weekend, the riders should be able to enjoy riding the distinctive orange dirt once again across the two days. First up will be free practice (11:20), followed by timed practice (14:00) which will give the gate-picks for the qualifying race that afternoon (17:00). The result of that race will then determine the gate-picks for the two points-scoring motos on Sunday afternoon (14:15 & 17:10).

I’ve been feeling really good this season, having a lot of fun in the races and I think that is showing in the results. I’ve won every round and either finished first or second in every race, so I am showing my speed and my consistency. Agueda is another track that I like and I’ve won here before, so hopefully I can continue this run and try to get my first one-one of the season as well. Everyone in the team is working really hard and it is great to repay that work with these wins!

Argentina was another step-up for me, showing that I have the speed to battle with the guys at the front, so this past week I’ve tried to continue that progression and just work on extending that speed further and further into the moto. I saw a really cool photo of us Honda riders sweeping round the first turn together, with Tim getting the holeshot and me not far behind and that’s the sort of thing I want to do more and more, get up there and show I deserve to be at the front and start getting my own holeshots. These first few rounds have all been at tracks I like and Agueda is another one I’ve had good results at in the past, so it’s good to be heading there in a confident mood.

It was a long, but a successful trip down to Argentina, so now everyone needed a couple of days to recover from that travel. Now though, we are fully focused on Portugal and keeping this feeling going. Tim getting a holeshot was a big boost for the team and for Honda, as it shows how powerful the Honda CRF450R is, and now we have one award, we want to get as many as possible. Both riders are happy with the season and want to put in two more solid races this weekend.
