Gajser dà la priorità a migliori partenze di gara per il titolo 2022
Il tre volte campione del mondo MXGP, Tim Gajser, ha segnalato il miglioramento delle prestazioni di partenza della sua CRF450R ufficiale come un fattore chiave nella sua difficile situazione per la quarta corona ai massimi livelli nel 2022. Il 25enne è stato chiaro riguardo ai più deboli elementi della sua campagna 2021 e in quello che è stato il concorso per il titolo più vicino ed elettrizzante della memoria recente.
Gajser era sminuito nella posta in gioco dell’Holeshot. Jorge Prado della Red Bull KTM ha registrato 18 holeshot mentre i principali rivali del campionato 2021 dell’uomo Honda – Romain Febvre del Kawasaki Racing Team e Jeffrey Herlings della Red Bull KTM – hanno afferrato almeno 6 e 4 “targhe nere” Fox. Gajser si è classificato 2° in termini di giri più veloci realizzati nella stagione 2021, ma ha condotto 97 giri rispetto ai 157 di Herlings e ai 138 di Febvre.
“Il campionato è stato incredibile, tutti erano in forma ed erano lì, ed è questo che lo ha reso così interessante. Era così vicino, è passato all’ultima manche, ed è per questo che le partenze sono state cruciali “, ha detto. “Ho bisogno di lavorare su di loro, molto. Le partenze sono sempre state importanti ma quest’anno lo sarà ancora di più. Ci siamo decisamente impegnati”.
Il 2022 sarà il settimo anno di Gajser in MXGP e con i colori Honda, nove mondiali GP in tutto compreso il suo periodo con la CRF250R in MX2. Lo sloveno insiste che è “super-motivato… perché ho perso quel titolo del 2021”, ma avrà già avuto un vantaggio dall’infortunio al tallone sinistro pre-stagione di Herlings e dal recupero di Febvre da una gamba rotta subita al Paris Supercross.

Gajser prioritises better race starts for 2022 title bid
Three-times MXGP World Champion, Tim Gajser, has flagged improved start performances by his factory CRF450R as a pivotal factor in his plight for a fourth crown at the highest level in 2022. The 25-year-old was clear-cut regarding the weakest element of his 2021 campaign and in what was the closest and most electrifying title contest in recent memory.
Gajser was dwarfed in the holeshot stakes. Red Bull KTM’s Jorge Prado posted 18 holeshots as the Honda man’s main 2021 championship rivals – Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre and Red Bull KTM’s Jeffrey Herlings – grabbed at least 6 and 4 Fox ‘black plates’. Gajser ranked 2nd in terms of fastest laps set through the 2021 season but led 97 laps compared to Herlings’ 157 and Febvre’s 138.
“The championship was incredible, everybody was fit and there, and that’s what made it so interesting. It was so close, it went down to the last moto, and that’s why the starts were crucial,” he said. “I need to work on them, a lot. Starts have always been important but this year it will be even more so. We are definitely on it.”
2022 will be Gajser’s seventh year in MXGP and in Honda colours, nine GP terms altogether Including his stint with the CRF250R in MX2. The Slovenian insists he is “super-motivated…because I lost that 2021 title” but will already have been given a headstart by Herlings’ pre-season left heel injury and Febvre recouperation from a broken leg sustained at the Paris Supercross.
