Un infortunio al ginocchio subito la scorsa settimana ha costretto Joey Savatgy ad uscire per tre round del Monster Energy Supercross, decidendo di far riparare il suo ACL dopo aver tentato di continuare con un legamento strappato.
Il pilota Rocky Mountain ATV / MC KTM WPS aveva pianificato di correre con il danno, tuttavia, una prima caduta in curva nella sua manche 450SX a San Diego ha segnato la fine della sua campagna.
“Beh, ci ho provato… amo così tanto questo lavoro e a volte è crudele”, ha dichiarato Savatgy. “Cercare di correre e non essere vicino al 100 percento non è l’ideale, specialmente in questa classe. Ieri è stata dura, con una pista piena di controcurve e whoops dure, il ginocchio mi ha dato tutto quello che potevo – la caduta nella heat è stata l’ultima goccia, quindi ho deciso di sistemare il ginocchio. Non è chiaro quando Savatgy sarà in grado di tornare, con il Team RMATVMC ora sceso da tre piloti a due con Shane McElrath e Max Anstie.

Knee injury forces Savatgy out altogether three rounds in
Decision made to get damaged ACL repaired following San Diego.
A knee injury sustained last week has forced Joey Savatgy out altogether three rounds into Monster Energy Supercross, deciding to have his ACL repaired after attempting to continue with a torn ligament.
The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM WPS rider had been planning on racing with the damage, however, a first turn fall in his 450SX heat in San Diego marked the end of his campaign.
“Well, I tried… I love this job so much and sometimes it’s cruel,” Savatgy stated. “Trying to race and not being near 100 percent isn’t ideal, especially in this class. Yesterday was tough, with a track filled with right-handers and some tough whoops, the knee gave me all it could – the crash in the heat was the final straw, so I’ve decided to get my knee fixed. Anyone who supports team 17, I appreciate you more than you know. Sometimes it feels like you keep getting punched in the face, but this will pass. I will keep everyone updated as events happen – I will be back.”
It’s unclear when Savatgy will be fit to return, with Team RMATVMC now down from three riders to two in featuring Shane McElrath and Max Anstie.
