AARON PLESSINGER CAPTURES SECOND-PLACE AT OAKLAND SX

AARON PLESSINGER DELLA RED BULL KTM CONQUISTA IL SECONDO POSTO A OAKLAND SX

OAKLAND, California – Aaron Plessinger della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing ha avuto una prestazione straordinaria al Round 2 del campionato AMA Supercross sabato, ottenendo un impressionante secondo posto a Oakland, in California. Combattendo per il comando per la maggior parte del Main Event, Plessinger ha ottenuto il suo miglior risultato in carriera 450SX a bordo della nuova KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION.

Le sessioni di qualifica si sono rivelate un duello aereo per Plessinger, ma il nuovo arrivato della Red Bull KTM si è presentato PRONTO GARA per lo spettacolo notturno. Afferrando un quinto posto nella 450SX Heat 1, Plessinger ha mantenuto un ritmo costante all’interno dei primi cinque all’inizio. Ha superato il terzo posto a tre giri dalla fine, tenendo duro per assicurarsi un terzo posto nella manche.

Nel Main Event, Plessinger è uscito dalla linea per catturare un quarto posto e non ha perso tempo a entrare tra i primi tre. Ha raggiunto la battaglia in testa all’inizio e ha inseguito i leader per alcuni giri prima di salire al secondo posto. Ha mantenuto il leader a una distanza impressionante per il resto del Main Event, ma non è stato in grado di colmare il divario abbastanza per fare un passaggio, finendo secondo nella notte.

Aaron Plessinger: “Il round di apertura è stato un po’ difficile per me, ma mi sono riorganizzato e ho trascorso una settimana davvero buona con la squadra. Abbiamo fatto dei test con l’intero equipaggio e trascorso un po’ di tempo in pista e amico, ha cambiato le cose. Sono entusiasta! Questo è il mio secondo podio in assoluto nella classe 450 e non posso ringraziare abbastanza questi ragazzi. È il mio primo anno su questa moto, quindi sono entusiasta della Red Bull KTM e di tutti quelli là fuori. Grazie!”

Dopo un forte podio al primo round, il campione in carica della 450SX Cooper Webb aveva tutte le intenzioni di portare quello slancio nel secondo round. Sentendosi sotto le intemperie il giorno della gara, Webb ha superato le sessioni di qualifica per ottenere un solido top-3 a bordo della KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION. È partito al sesto posto nella 450SX Heat 2 e si è fatto strada tra i primi cinque a metà gara. Con il suo compagno di squadra Musquin al seguito, Webb è stato in grado di assicurarsi il quinto posto nella manche.

Nel Main Event, Webb si è ritrovato all’11° posto all’inizio e ha scavato a fondo per farsi strada all’inizio del campo. È arrivato settimo a metà percorso e da lì ha mantenuto un ritmo costante per assicurarsi un settimo posto.

Cooper Webb: “Stasera è stata dura, per non dire altro. Ieri ho avuto un raffreddore e ho combattuto meglio che potevamo oggi, ma sicuramente non mi sono sentito affatto bene. Le prove sono andate abbastanza bene con il terzo posto, ma ho solo cercato di risparmiare il più possibile per il Main Event. Ho avuto un inizio terribile nel main e sono andato avanti come meglio potevo. È stata decisamente dura combattere la malattia, ma questa settimana mi rimetterò in salute e andrò a San Diego con un corpo fresco e una lavagna fresca. Per quanto riguarda il campionato, siamo ancora in una buona posizione, quindi vedremo dove andrà a finire”.

È stato anche un round impegnativo per il compagno di squadra Marvin Musquin, che ha lottato con le sue partenze per tutta la notte. Qualificandosi tra i primi cinque, Musquin è partito dall’ottavo posto nella 450SX Heat 2 e si è sistemato dietro Webb all’inizio. Il duo KTM si è fatto strada nella battaglia dei primi cinque, con Musquin che alla fine è arrivato sesto nella manche.

Nel Main Event, Musquin è tornato al nono posto nel giro di apertura e si è ritrovato a correre a metà gruppo ancora una volta con il suo compagno di squadra Webb all’inizio. Hanno iniziato a fare mosse a metà gara, ma Musquin ha abbassato il ritmo verso la fine, ottenendo un ottavo posto nella notte.

Marvin Musquin: “Nella gara di qualifica non sono partito bene e purtroppo non ha funzionato. Nel Main Event, ero al cancello esterno e in realtà ho avuto una partenza migliore, ma è stato difficile nei primi giri a metà gruppo. Sono migliorato un po’ dopo quattro o cinque giri e stavo cercando di attaccare Cooper, ma ho iniziato a stringere e non ho mantenuto lo slancio fino alla fine. So che devo fare di meglio, quindi lavoreremo su alcune cose questa settimana”.

RED BULL KTM’S AARON PLESSINGER CAPTURES SECOND-PLACE AT OAKLAND SX

OAKLAND, Calif. – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Aaron Plessinger had a stand-out performance at Round 2 of the AMA Supercross Championship on Saturday, claiming an impressive second-place in Oakland, California. Battling for the lead throughout most of the Main Event, Plessinger delivered his best-career 450SX result aboard the new KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION.
 
The qualifying sessions proved to be a dogfight for Plessinger but the Red Bull KTM newcomer showed up READY TO RACE for the night show. Grabbing a fifth-place start in 450SX Heat 1, Plessinger maintained a consistent pace inside the top-five early on. He overtook third with three laps to go, holding strong to secure a third-place finish in the heat.
 
In the Main Event, Plessinger shot off the line to capture a fourth-place start and he wasted no time breaking into the top-three. He caught up to the lead battle early on and he stalked the leaders for a few laps before charging into second place. He kept the leader within striking distance for the rest of the Main Event but he wasn’t able to close the gap enough to make a pass before the checkers, finishing second on the night. 
 
Aaron Plessinger: “The opening round was a little rough for me but I re-grouped and had a really good week with the team. We did some testing with the whole crew and spent some time at the track and man, did it turn things around. I’m stoked! This is my second podium ever in the 450 class and I can’t thank these guys enough. It’s my first year on this bike, so I’m stoked on Red Bull KTM and everybody out there. Thank you!”
 
Following a strong podium finish at round one, defending 450SX Champion Cooper Webb had all intentions of carrying that momentum into round two. Feeling under the weather on race day, Webb pushed through the qualifying sessions to come away with a solid top-three aboard the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION. He got off to a sixth-place start in 450SX Heat 2 and battled his way into the top-five halfway through the race. With his teammate Musquin close in tow, Webb was able to secure fifth in the heat.
 
In the Main Event, Webb found himself back in 11th off the start and he dug deep to make his way through the field early on. He got into seventh around the midway point and from there he maintained a steady pace to secure a seventh-place finish.
 
Cooper Webb: “Tonight was a tough one, to say the least. I came down with a cold yesterday and fought through it the best we could today but definitely didn’t feel great at all. Practice went pretty good with third but I just tried to save as much as I could for the Main Event. I had a terrible start in the main and I made my way forward as best I could. It was definitely tough battling the sickness but I’m going to get healthy this week and go into San Diego with a fresh body and fresh slate. As far as the championship goes, we’re still in a good spot so we’ll see where it ends up.”
 
It was also a challenging round for teammate Marvin Musquin, who struggled with his starts throughout the night. Qualifying inside the top-five, Musquin got off to an eighth-place start in 450SX Heat 2 and he settled in behind Webb early on. The KTM duo worked their way into the top-five battle, with Musquin ultimately finishing sixth in the heat.
 
In the Main Event, Musquin got shuffled back to ninth on the opening lap and he found himself racing mid-pack once again with his teammate Webb early on. They began making moves midway through the race but Musquin dropped off the pace toward the end, resulting in an eighth-place finish on the night.
 
Marvin Musquin: “In the heat race, I didn’t get a good start and unfortunately it didn’t work out. In the Main Event, I was on the outside gate and I actually had a better start but it was difficult in the first few laps mid-pack. I got a little bit better after four or five laps and I was trying to attack Cooper but I started tightening up and I didn’t keep that momentum until the end. I know I need to do better, so we’ll work on some things this week.”
