Stagione finita per Roan van de Moosdijk

Costretto al ritiro la scorsa settimana in Spagna con un polso dolorante Roan van de Moosdijk deve purtroppo concludere la sua stagione e salterà i restanti round del Campionato Mondiale FIM MX2 Motocross 2021.

Dopo una stagione da debuttante di grande successo nel 2020 con cinque podi GP durante la sua prima campagna MX2 completa, il campione europeo 2019 ha confermato il suo potenziale all’inizio di questa stagione piazzando la sua Kawasaki F&H tra i primi cinque del campionato mondiale MX2 dopo l’MXGP dei Paesi Bassi. Conquistando consistenti primi sei piazzamenti tra cui diversi podi in moto, Roan stava costruendo la sua stagione ad ogni gara fino a quando non si è infortunato durante la seconda manche a Loket in Repubblica Ceca alla fine di luglio quando si è rotto lo scafoide e ha dovuto sottoporsi a un intervento chirurgico. Era la prima volta in carriera che il giovane olandese subiva un grave infortunio e, con l’obiettivo di rappresentare il suo Paese al Motocross delle Nazioni in Italia, Roan è tornato sulla sua Kawasaki appena sei settimane dopo, correndo in Sardegna per preparare l’MXON, dove ha aiutato il Team Netherlands a vincere la medaglia d’argento FIM come secondo classificato ai padroni di casa. Dopo ulteriori risultati nella top ten sia in Germania che in Francia, ha dovuto ritirarsi dalla prima manche in Spagna lo scorso fine settimana perché aveva troppo dolore al polso. A seguito di ulteriori esami medici questa settimana, il rinomato specialista sportivo dottor Claes ha raccomandato a Roan di interrompere gli allenamenti e le corse per un paio di settimane in modo che il suo polso possa riprendersi completamente.

Roan van de Moosdijk: “Non è sicuramente il modo in cui volevo concludere questa stagione, ma queste cose accadono. Dopo un buon inizio della stagione 2021, dopo un paio di round stavamo lottando per i primi posti in campionato ma sfortunatamente, come ormai tutti sanno, ho avuto un brutto incidente a Loket e mi sono rotto lo scafoide. Sapevamo in anticipo che si trattava di un infortunio difficile, ma ho fatto tutto il possibile per tornare in sella il prima possibile e lottare per il mio paese al MXoN dove siamo diventati secondi. Con il fitto programma del calendario MXGP non c’era possibilità di riposare la mano e non potevo guidare senza dolore durante la settimana o nei fine settimana; il mio medico mi ha consigliato di lasciarlo guarire ora e di concentrarmi sulla nuova stagione. Voglio dire un grande grazie a tutto il F&H Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team (famiglia), Kawasaki Motors Europe, i miei meccanici, il mio allenatore Marc de Reuver e tutti gli sponsor per tutto il duro lavoro e la fiducia in me! “

End of season for Roan van de Moosdijk

Forced to retire last week in Spain with a painful wrist Roan van de Moosdijk must unfortunately to end his season and will miss the remaining rounds of the 2021 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship.

After a highly succesful rookie season in 2020 with five GP podiums during his first full MX2 campaign the 2019 European champion confirmed his potential earlier this season as he placed his F&H Kawasaki in the top five of the MX2 World Championship after the MXGP of Netherlands. Posting consistent top six finishes including several moto podiums Roan was building his season at each race until he was injured during the second moto at Loket in the Czech Republic at the end of July as he broke his scaphoid and had to go for surgery. It was the first time in his career that the young Dutchman had faced a serious injury and, with the aim of representing his country at the Motocross of Nations in Italy, Roan was back on his Kawasaki just six weeks later, racing in Sardinia to prepare for the MXON where he helped Team Netherlands to the FIM silver medal as runners-up to the hosts. After further top ten scoreline in both Germany and France he had to withdraw from the first moto in Spain last weekend as he had too much pain in his wrist. Following further medical examinations this week the renowned sports specialist Doctor Claes has recommended that Roan cease training and racing for a couple of weeks so that his wrist can recover completely.
 
Roan van de Moosdijk: “It’s definitely not the way I wanted to end this season, but these things happen. After a solid start to the 2021 season we were battling for the top spots in the championship after a couple of rounds but unfortunately, as everyone knows by now, I had a big crash at Loket and broke my scaphoid. We knew up front that this is a tough injury but I did everything I could to be back on the bike as soon as possible and to fight for my country at the MXoN where we became second. With the busy schedule on the MXGP calendar there was no chance to rest my hand and I couldn’t ride without pain during the week or at the weekends; my doctor has advised me to let it heal now and to focus on the new season. I want to say a big thank you to the whole F&H Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team (family), Kawasaki Motors Europe, my mechanics, my trainer Marc de Reuver and all the sponsors for all the hard work and belief in me! “
