Dopo avervi tartassato con la vittoria dell’Italia, eccoi i commenti del restante podio al Motocross delle Nazioni 2021, secondi assoluti il Team Olanda con Jeffrey Herlings, Roan Van De Moosdijk e Glenn Coldenhoff, mentre a riempire il terzo gradino del podio c’è il Team Inghilterra con Ben Watson, Conrad Mewse e Shaun Simpson.

Jeffrey Herlings: “Ho fatto quello che potevo oggi e l’1-1 è stato il massimo. La squadra ha fatto tutto il possibile e abbiamo avuto un po’ di sfortuna. Dal 2016 siamo sul podio in tutti i Nazioni e non sempre si vince. A volte devi perdere per migliorare. Sono super orgoglioso del Team Netherlands e anche dei miei risultati; Non sono mai stato 1-1 a questo evento prima, quindi è bene aggiungerlo alla raccolta. Non vedo l’ora che arrivi il GP di Germania ora”.
Roan van de Moosdijk: “Personalmente è stata una giornata piuttosto dura per me; Ho dovuto partire due volte da fuori ed è stata dura contro i 450. Ovviamente sono un po’ dispiaciuto di non aver dato alla squadra quel quinto risultato di cui avevamo bisogno per vincere per un solo punto. “
Glenn Coldenhoff: “Nella prima gara sono entrato un po’ troppo forte nella prima curva e poi, con le condizioni, sono finito per cadere. Dopo di che, non mi sentivo molto bene e mi faceva molto male, è stato difficile tornare indietro. Nella seconda manche sono partito davvero bene e sono riuscito a rimanere in piedi, il che è stato buono e anche finire terzo è stato buono. Se parlo per il Team The Netherlands, è stata una giornata piuttosto deludente, niente di meno poi una vittoria è deludente, ma abbiamo dato il massimo. Complimenti al Team Italia”.
Ben Watson: “Quando vieni a questa gara non sai mai cosa aspettarti. Sapevo che questo fine settimana mancavano alcuni dei migliori ragazzi. Sono venuto qui con i miei compagni di squadra, due miei compagni davvero bravi, e siamo riusciti ad arrivare a due punti dalla vittoria. È incredibile. Vincere la MXGP in generale è stata solo la ciliegina sulla torta. Mi sento davvero felice con me stesso. È un piccolo aumento di fiducia nel resto della stagione. ”
Conrad Mewse: “È stata una sensazione irreale essere lassù! È stata una lotteria là fuori, ma sento di aver mostrato cosa posso fare in una vera gara [sabato]. Oggi è stata una lotteria e dura, ma abbiamo ottenuto il risultato! Ho avuto una sensazione davvero buona entrando in questo WE. Ho messo pressione su me stesso – volevo rendere orgoglioso il Team GB – e penso che abbia tirato fuori il meglio da me. Penso che la maggior parte delle persone sappia che ho la velocità. La mia squadra ha fatto un lavoro fantastico oggi, ho guidato la stessa moto in entrambe le manche e la squadra ha affrontato incredibilmente bene il rapido cambio di marcia. Questo è un buon passo avanti”.
Shaun Simpson: CHE WEEKEND Salire su quel podio diventa solo più dolce man mano che invecchio! Weekend emozionante a Mantova per il Motocross delle Nazioni 2021. Il legamento strappato del pollice dopo sabato non era l’ideale, ma abbiamo raccolto la sfida. Grazie ai miei compagni di squadra Ben Watsonmx e Conrad Mewse non sarebbe stato possibile senza di voi! Jeffrey Herlings: “I did what I could today and going 1-1 was the maximum. The team did all they could, and we had some bad luck. Since 2016 we have been on the box at every Nations and you cannot always win. Sometimes you have to lose to get better. I super-proud of Team Netherlands and also my results; I’ve never been 1-1 at this event before so it is good to add that to the collection. I’m looking forward to the German GP now.”
Roan van de Moosdijk: “Personally it was quite a tough day for me; I had to start two times from the outside and it was hard against the 450s. Of course I’m a little disappointed that I missed giving the team that fifth scoreline we needed to win by just one point. “
Glenn Coldenhoff: “In the first race I went into the first turn a bit too hard and then with the conditions, I ended up going down. After that, I didn’t really feel very good and I was hurting quite a lot. It was hard to come back. In the second moto I took a really good start and managed to stay up, which was good and to finish third was also good. If I speak for Team The Netherlands, it was quite a disappointing day, anything less than a win is disappointing, but we gave it our all. Congratulations to Team Italy.”
Ben Watson: “When you come to this race you never know what to expect. I knew that this weekend there were a few of the top guys missing. I came in here with my teammates, two really good mates of mine, and we managed to come within two points of winning. It’s amazing. To win the MXGP overall was just the cherry on the top. I am feeling really happy with myself. It is a little confidence booster going into the rest of the season.”
Conrad Mewse: “It was an unreal feeling to be up there! It was a lottery out there, but I feel like I showed what I can do in a proper race yesterday [Saturday]. Today was a lottery and tough, but we got it done! I had a really good feeling coming into this. I put pressure on myself – I wanted to do Team GB proud – and I think that brought the best out of me. I think that most people know that I have the speed. My team did a fantastic job today; I rode the same bike in both motos and the team dealt with the quick turnaround incredibly well. This is a good step forward.”
Shaun Simpson: WHAT. A. WEEKEND 
Climbing up on that podium only gets sweeter the older I get! Emotional weekend in Mantova for the 2021 Motocross of Nations. Torn ligament in my thumb after Saturday wasn’t ideal but we rose to the challenge.
