Henry Jacobi Scores Season’s Best Result During MXGP Of Turkey

Henry Jacobi of JM Racing Honda rode to his best MXGP result of the season at Afyonkarahisar in Turkey. Jacobi finished seventh in the first heat and followed that up with 11th in the second race. This yielded him eighth overall for the day.

The venue was the same as for Sunday’s GP, but the track was adapted somewhat. Despite time training not being his strong suit, he secured a reasonably good start gate with the 15th time.

A good reaction time coupled to the power of the Honda CRF450 got Jacobi off the gate in fifth position in race one.  He lost a few spots in the opening lap, but recovered to seventh, which he held till the flag fell. The sun was beating down as the second race got started. Jacobi was off the line in tenth position, and focused on making as few errors as possible on the treacherous track. He kept his wits about him, and again landed deep in the points with 11th position.

Henry Jacobi: ‘’I scored already a few top ten positions this year but wasn’t able to ride two consistent motos. Due to this the pressure was high for the second moto but the riding went well and I have ridden a consistent race. Together with the team we are working hard to make progress and we try to be better in every Grand Prix.’’

Jacky Martens (team owner): ‘’It was a great day for us. We are battling with the factory teams in the ultra competitive MXGP class and this is where we are working for! It isn’t easy but with all the hard work we have come far already. Eighth overall is super but we keep working hard and hopefully we can make small steps forward in the coming weeks.

With 7-11 race finishes, Jacobi was eighth overall, and maintains his position of 15th in the world championship standings.  He has moved to within one point of 14th position. The world championship series continues on 19 September at Riola Sardo in Sardinia.
