Ferrandis ipoteca il campionato all’Ironman!
Dylan Ferrandis di Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing è tornato sul podio con un secondo posto all’Ironman National di ieri a Crawfordsville, nell’Indiana. Il risultato di 1-2 del francese ha contribuito a rafforzare la sua posizione nel campionato Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 450MX, dandogli un vantaggio di 50 punti con due round rimanenti. Ancora non sentendosi al 100% dopo il suo grande incidente a Unadilla, il compagno di squadra Aaron Plessinger ha tenuto duro nelle condizioni difficili e ha concluso al 13° posto assoluto nonostante il ritiro dalla Moto 2.
Ferrandis ha stabilito subito il ritmo, superando entrambe le sessioni di qualificazione per guadagnare gli onori di qualificazione più veloci nella classe regina. Ha ottenuto un buon lancio dal cancello e ha preso il primo posto prima dell’inizio del giro 2. Anche se è stato superato poco dopo, ha ripreso il comando alla fine del giro. Ha cercato di creare un gap, ma è stata una battaglia accesa tra tre piloti davanti. Ha resistito alla pressione e, mentre il tempo era agli sgoccioli, ha iniziato a ritirarsi, tagliando il traguardo con un vantaggio di quattro secondi per la sua sesta vittoria di manche della stagione.
In Moto 2, Ferrandis ha afferrato l’holeshot, ma è stato spostato al terzo posto all’inizio della gara. Il francese ha abbassato la testa e ancora una volta ha effettuato il sorpasso prima dell’inizio del sesto giro. Da lì, ha gestito una gara intelligente in condizioni difficili per mantenere la sua striscia di podi con un secondo posto per il secondo posto assoluto.
Plessinger non ha avuto la partenza che sperava nella prima manche e si è ritrovato 14° dopo il primo giro. È andato rapidamente al lavoro ed è avanzato fino al settimo posto a quattro giri dalla manche e poi al sesto posto a quattro giri dalla fine, dove alla fine ha concluso. Il nativo dell’Ohio ha avuto un inizio migliore in Moto 2 al sesto posto. In quel primo giro, è stato rimescolato al settimo, ma ha lottato per recuperare la posizione nel giro successivo. Con il passare del tempo, ha iniziato a perdere terreno ed è arrivato nono al sesto giro. Ha cercato di continuare a spingere in quella che considera la sua gara di casa, ma sfortunatamente, le condizioni penalizzanti lo hanno costretto a ritirarsi dalla gara dopo la metà del percorso.
Il team Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing torna a ovest a Pala, in California, per il penultimo round del campionato Lucas Oil Pro Motocross il 4 settembre al Fox Raceway.

Il secondo posto assoluto è stato un buon risultato per oggi e buono per il campionato. La moto è stata fantastica tutto il giorno; non abbiamo toccato nulla, il che è stato grandioso”.

“È stato un altro duro per me. Mi sentivo bene per la maggior parte della giornata e la moto funzionava alla grande. La pista non era delle migliori e sono rimasto un po’ deluso quando non era troppo profonda. Questo posto di solito va molto bene con più linee da passare, ma questa volta era come un’autostrada con dei solchi sopra. Ho finito la Moto 1 al sesto posto, quindi è stato meglio dello scorso fine settimana, ma stavo ancora male uscendo per il secondo, e il mio corpo non era pronto per questo, immagino. Il piano è recuperare questa settimana e, si spera, tornare al Pala il prossimo fine settimana”.

Ferrandis Makes Championship Gains at Ironman Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis returned to the podium with a runner-up finish at yesterday’s Ironman National in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The Frenchman’s 1-2 result helped strengthen his position in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 450MX Championship, giving him a 50-point lead with two rounds remaining. Still not feeling 100% after his big crash at Unadilla, teammate Aaron Plessinger toughed it out in the challenging conditions and finished 13th overall despite withdrawing from Moto 2. Ferrandis set the pace straight away, topping both qualifying sessions to earn the fastest qualifier honors in the premier class. He got a good launch off of the gate and took the number-one spot before the start of Lap 2. Although he was passed shortly after, he reclaimed the lead at the end of the lap. He tried to build a gap, but it was a heated three-rider battle up front. He held up to the pressure, and as the clock was winding down, he started to pull away, ultimately crossing the line with a four-second lead for his sixth moto win of the season. In Moto 2, Ferrandis grabbed the holeshot, but he was shuffled to third early in the race. The Frenchman put his head down and once again made the pass before the start of Lap 6. From there, he managed a smart race in the challenging conditions to keep his podium streak rolling with a second-place finish for second overall. Plessinger didn’t get the start he was hoping for in the first moto and found himself 14th after the first lap. He quickly went to work and advanced to seventh four laps into the moto and then up sixth with four laps to go, where he ultimately finished. The Ohio Native had a better start in Moto 2 in sixth. On that opening lap, he was shuffled to seventh, but he fought back to reclaim the position on the following lap. As the race wore on, he started to lose some ground and was ninth on Lap 6. He tried to keep pushing at what he considers his home race, but unfortunately, the punishing conditions had him withdrawing from the race after the halfway mark. I felt good most of the day, and the bike was working awesome. The track wasn’t the best, and I was a little disappointed when it wasn’t too deep. This place usually ruts up really well with multiple lines to pass, but this time it was like a highway with sawdust on it. I finished Moto 1 in sixth, so that was better than last weekend, but I was still hurting going out for the second one, and my body just wasn’t ready for it, I guess. The plan is to recover this week and hopefully be back at Pala next weekend.” |
