Although he saw his three-race winning streak come to an end at the previous round, Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis was still able to add to his advantage in the 450 Class standings. Currently, a total of 32 points sit between the Frenchman and his German rival, Team Honda HRC’s Ken Roczen. Additionally, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing’s Justin Barcia is coming off a historic win for the sport’s newest manufacturer, while Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac continues to build momentum in search of his return to the top step of the podium.
In the 250 Class, the points lead changed hands for the first time as Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing’s Justin Cooper took possession of the red plate from Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence. Just six points separate the title contenders in what has been a historic first half for the division with six different winners through the first six rounds. All eyes will be watching to see if one of these six riders can seize the moment to become the first repeat winner of the 2021 season.
