MONACO (Principato di Monaco) luglio 2021 – Il Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross 2021 entra nel suo secondo dei quattro Gran Premi consecutivi con il ritorno di Loket per l’ MXGP della Repubblica Ceca .
Situato a 150 km a ovest di Praga, Loket fa parte del calendario del campionato mondiale di motocross dal 1995, con vincitori del Gran Premio della Repubblica Ceca tra cui Joel Smets, Stefan Everts, Ben Townley, Jeremy Van Horebeek, Jeffrey Herlings, Romain Febvre e altri.
Dopo aver perso un GP nel 2020, Loket torna per il 2021 per ospitare il quinto round dei Campionati Mondiali MXGP e MX2 di quest’anno, insieme a un round dell’EMXOpen e al round di apertura dell’EMX2t e dal FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship , mentre Courtney Duncan si schiererà per difendere la sua WMX ancora una volta da un campo delle donne più veloci del mondo.

In MXGP, Romain Febvre del Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team è più desideroso che mai di salire sul gradino più alto del podio e questo fine settimana potrebbe essere la sua occasione perfetta. Febvre ha mostrato una velocità reale, come abbiamo visto a Oss, quindi è chiaro che il francese è concentrato sul mettersi davanti e assicurarsi quelle vittorie in gara. Ha vinto anche il GP di Loket nel 2019, quindi ovviamente sa come vincere sul circuito blue-groove.
Il team HRC Tim Gajser cercherà di aggiungere più vittorie in gara e vittorie complessive alla sua caccia al campionato dopo alcuni risultati davvero solidi negli ultimi due GP, mentre Glenn Coldenhoff e Jeremy Seewer di Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing cercheranno il riscatto dopo una dura gara olandese Gran Premio di una settimana fa. Seewer è salito sul podio l’ultima volta in Repubblica Ceca e potrebbe farlo anche questa domenica.
Jorge Prado della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing è un’altra potenziale minaccia questa volta, dopo alcune ottime gare a Oss. Prado ha vinto a Loket nel 2019 mentre era ancora in MX2, quindi ovviamente anche lui può aggirare molto bene la pista dura.
Altri da tenere d’occhio questo fine settimana includono Pauls Jonass di Standing Construct GasGas Factory Racing che ha costruito i suoi risultati GP per GP ed è stato vicino al podio in diverse occasioni ora, quindi è solo questione di tempo prima che lo vedremo finire dentro i primi 3.
La grande notizia da Oss è ovviamente Jeffrey Herlings della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing che è stato costretto a lasciare il suo GP di casa per un infortunio alla spalla. Non ci sono ancora notizie certe su quando possiamo aspettarci che il Bullet faccia il suo ritorno mentre il suo compagno di squadra Antonio Caiorli della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing è un altro pilota che ha un vero potenziale per vincere. Il 9 volte Campione del Mondo ha vinto a Loket quattro volte prima, quindi potremmo vederlo aggiungere un quinto sigillo questa domenica.
Arminas Jasikonis di Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing ha disputato il suo miglior GP della stagione in Olanda, dove ha concluso al decimo posto. Senza dubbio questa sarà una spinta di fiducia per il lituano che spera di migliorare ancora nel corso della stagione. Il suo compagno di squadra Thomas Kjer Olsen potrebbe fare bene questo fine settimana, dal momento che è stato un altro pilota a finire sul podio nel 2019 mentre era ancora un contendente al titolo MX2.

In MX2, il campionato è più aperto che mai poiché entriamo nel quinto round con un nuovo leader del campionato. Maxime Renaux di Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing è ora davanti a Mattia Guadagnini della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing di soli cinque punti. La coppia ha una reale possibilità di vincere questo fine settimana, dato che Renaux e Guadagnini hanno dimostrato di essere dei forti piloti hardpack, le loro vittorie a Matterley Basin e Maggiora parlano da sole.
Ruben Fernandez della Honda 114 Motorsports è terzo in campionato a soli tre punti da Guadagnini ed è anche un altro pilota che ancora una volta si sfiderà per la vittoria. Fernandez ha tenuto brevemente la tabella rossa e senza dubbio vorrà riprendersela.
Mathys Boisrame, Roan Van De Moosdijk e Mikkel Haarup di F&H Kawasaki Racing Team entreranno in questo round impennandosi per raggiungere altre posizioni di vertice, in particolare Van de Moosdijk e Boisrame dopo un difficile GP olandese. Boisrame e Van de Moosdijk hanno dimostrato finora in questa stagione di poter combattere sulla sabbia e sul cemento, quindi sarà interessante vedere cosa possono offrire questa volta.
Naturalmente, il vincitore assoluto dello scorso fine settimana Jago Geerts si recherà a Loket con un enorme impulso di fiducia dopo un inizio di stagione difficile a causa di un infortunio al ginocchio. Ora sembra che Geerts sia tornato al suo vecchio modo di vincere che non vediamo l’ora di vedere di più in Repubblica Ceca dato che andrà dopo la sua seconda vittoria in un GP della stagione mentre scala la classifica del campionato, per mantenere viva la sua caccia al titolo. Anche il suo compagno di squadra Thibault Benistant ha buone possibilità di fare bene sulla pista dura, essendo riuscito a vincere una gara a Maggiora.
Jed Beaton e Kay De Wolf di Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing sono stati a dir poco impressionanti a Oss, poiché la coppia ha lottato per il comando in entrambe le gare per finire il fine settimana sul podio insieme. Beaton è arrivato 2 ° assoluto per la sua prima apparizione sul podio della stagione, mentre De Wolf ne ha fatto un memorabile GP di casa con il suo primo piazzamento tra i primi tre nel Campionato del Mondo MX2. Entrambi si sentiranno senza dubbio al meglio dopo un round precedente così forte e potremmo vederli ripetere il successo dello scorso fine settimana questa volta.
Nel frattempo stiamo ancora tutti aspettando il ritorno del Campione del Mondo in carica Tom Vialle della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing che finora ha saltato le gare di Matterley Basin, Maggiora e Oss. Vialle è ora sceso al 15° posto in classifica, quindi speriamo che possa tornare presto a correre e recuperare punti preziosi.

MXGP Locked and Loaded for Loket
MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 21 July 2021 – The 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship heads into its second of four consecutive Grand Prix’s with the return of Loket for the MXGP of Czech Republic.
Located 150km west of Prague, Loket has been a part of the Motocross World Championship calendar since 1995, with winners of the Czech Grand Prix including the likes of Joel Smets, Stefan Everts, Ben Townley, Jeremy Van Horebeek, Jeffrey Herlings, Romain Febvre and others.
After missing out on a GP in 2020, Loket is back for 2021 to host the fifth round of this year’s MXGP and MX2 World Championships, along with a round of the EMXOpen as well as the opening round of the EMX2t Presented by FMF Racing and the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship, as Courtney Duncan will line-up to defend her WMX once again from a field of the fastest ladies in the world.
In MXGP, Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre is more eager than ever to get on the top step of the podium and this weekend could be his perfect opportunity. Febvre has shown real speed, as we witnessed in Oss, so it is clear that the Frenchman is focused on getting out in front and securing those race wins. He also won the GP in Loket back in 2019, so he obviously knowns how to win on the blue-groove circuit.
Team HRC Tim Gajser will be looking to add more race wins and overall victories to his championship chase after some real solid results the past couple of GP’s, while Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Glenn Coldenhoff and Jeremy Seewer will be looking for redemption after a tough Dutch Grand Prix a week ago. Seewer placed on the podium last time around in Czech Republic and could do so again this Sunday.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado is another potential threat this time around, after some strong races in Oss. Prado was victorious in Loket back in 2019 while he was still in MX2, so of course he too can get around the hardpack track very well.
Others to watch out for this weekend include Standing Construct GasGas Factory Racing’s Pauls Jonass who has been building his results GP by GP and has been close to a podium finish on several occasions now, so it’s only a matter of time before we see him finish inside the top 3.
The big news from Oss is of course Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings being forced out of his home GP with a shoulder injury. There is still no definite news on when we can expect the Bullet to make his return while his teammate Antonio Caiorli of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing is another rider who has real potential to win. The 9-time World Champion has won in Loket four times before so we could see him add a fifth this Sunday.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Arminas Jasikonis had his best GP of the season in the Netherlands where he finished 10th overall. No doubt this will be a confidence boost for the Lithuanian who will hope to get even better as the season goes on. His teammate Thomas Kjer Olsen could perform well this weekend, since he was another rider to finish on the podium back in 2019 while he was still an MX2 title contender.

In MX2, the championship is more open than ever as we enter round five with a brand-new championship leader. Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Maxime Renaux now leads Mattia Guadagnini of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing by just five points. The pair have a real chance to win this weekend, as Renaux and Guadagnini have proven themselves to be strong hardpack riders, their wins in Matterley Basin and Maggiora speak for itself.
Honda 114 Motorsports’ Ruben Fernandez sits third in the championship just three points adrift of Guadagnini and is also another rider who will once again challenge for the win. Fernandez briefly held the red plate and will no doubt want to get it back.
Mathys Boisrame, Roan Van De Moosdijk and Mikkel Haarup of F&H Kawasaki Racing Team will enter this round rearing to go after more top scoring positions, especially Van de Moosdijk and Boisrame after a tough Dutch GP. Boisrame and Van de Moosdijk have shown this season so far that they can battle on the sand and the hardpack so it will be interesting to see what they can deliver this time.
Of course, last weekend’s overall winner Jago Geerts will head to Loket with a huge confident boost after a tough start to the season due to a knee injury. Now it seems Geerts is back to his old winning way which we are eager to see more of in Czech Republic as he will go after his second GP win of the season as he climbs up the championship standings, to keep his title chase alive. His teammate Thibault Benistant also has a good chance to perform well on the hardpack as he managed to win a race in Maggiora.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Jed Beaton and Kay De Wolf were impressive to say the least in Oss, as the pair challenged for the lead in both races to finish the weekend on the podium together. Beaton was 2nd overall for his first podium appearance of the season, while De Wolf made it a memorable home GP with his first top three finish in the MX2 World Championship. Both will no doubt be feeling their best after such a strong previous round and we could see them repeat their success of last weekend this time around.
Meanwhile we’re all still waiting for the return of the defending World Champion Tom Vialle of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing who has so far missed races in Matterley Basin, Maggiora and Oss. Vialle has now dropped to 15th in the championships standings, so hopefully he can return racing very soon and claw back some valuable points.
