Gajser estende il vantaggio in campionato dopo un’altra vittoria assoluta
Tim Gajser del Team HRC ha ottenuto la sua seconda vittoria assoluta della stagione del campionato mondiale MXGP 2021 dopo due solide manche sul circuito sabbioso di Oss nei Paesi Bassi. Non solo i suoi 3-2 punteggi sono stati abbastanza buoni da assicurarsi il gradino più alto del podio, ma ha anche aumentato il suo vantaggio nella classifica del titolo da sei punti a 23 punti, dando allo sloveno un vantaggio quasi completo sui suoi rivali più vicini dopo solo quattro turni.
I piloti sapevano che avrebbero affrontato una giornata difficile in ufficio poiché la sabbia è nota per assorbire energia e poi, combinata con temperature che toccano i 30 °C sulla pista olandese, li ha fatti lavorare davvero per ogni punto. Per fortuna, Gajser è stato all’altezza della sfida, guidando una prima manche fluida e coerente poiché quelli intorno a lui hanno avuto gare irregolari. Il #243 ha completato il primo giro in terza posizione e si è assicurato di non commettere errori, poiché alla fine ha tagliato il traguardo nella stessa posizione.
In gara due, un’altra partenza tra i primi tre significava che era in una posizione davvero forte per la classifica generale, e quando è passato al secondo posto al terzo giro, era quasi assicurato. Tuttavia, il pilota della Honda CRF450RW voleva sigillare la vittoria della manche e della classifica generale, e dopo aver fatto pressioni sul leader per 10 giri, alla fine è arrivato primo. Sfortunatamente, quella battaglia lo aveva buttato fuori dal suo ritmo e ha dovuto arrendersi alla vittoria in seguito, ma è stato fatto, con la certezza di essere ancora sul gradino più alto del podio e con una presa ancora più sicura sulla tabella rossa di leader del campionato.
Il divario in testa ora è di 23 punti, ma con le gare che si avvicinano fitte e veloci, e su tutti i tipi di terreno, Gajser sa che non può permettersi di riposare sugli allori. Il prossimo fine settimana è l’MXGP della Repubblica Ceca, che è ospitato nella sede della vecchia scuola di Loket, nota per la sua superficie dura e il layout collinare. Come tutte le gare di questa stagione, l’azione MXGP si svolgerà domenica 25 luglio, con una pratica mattutina seguita dalle due manche pomeridiane, dove Gajser continuerà ancora una volta la sua ricerca del suo terzo titolo mondiale consecutivo.

Nel complesso, sono contento della giornata. All’inizio dell’evento sapevo che sarebbe stato difficile conquistare la vittoria perché era una pista nuova per me e ci sono molti buoni piloti di sabbia, ma ho cercato di guidare in modo fluido, senza prendere troppi rischi e ha pagato. Certo, mi sarebbe piaciuto finire con una vittoria nella seconda manche, ma aumentare il mio vantaggio in campionato e salire sul gradino più alto del podio è stata una buona conclusione di giornata. So che devo ancora continuare a lavorare sodo e mi assicurerò di essere pronto per il duro pacchetto di Loket il prossimo fine settimana, dove spero che ci saranno molti fan sloveni che possono tifare per me.

Siamo decisamente soddisfatti di come è andata la giornata, perché con la nuova location, il fondo sabbioso e le alte temperature, non è stato certo un evento facile per Tim e il Team HRC. Tuttavia, tutti hanno fatto il lavoro necessario per uscire al top e aumentare il nostro vantaggio nella corsa al titolo è una grande motivazione per andare avanti in questa dura serie di gare. Tim ha mostrato un’eccellente pazienza oggi, in quelle che erano circostanze difficili e nonostante il comando in testa, sappiamo che le cose possono cambiare molto rapidamente, quindi ha guidato in modo estremamente intelligente ed è rimasto al sicuro ed è uscito al top. Non potremmo chiedere di più e siamo entusiasti di continuare lo slancio nella Repubblica Ceca il prossimo fine settimana.

Gajser extends championship lead after another overall victory
Team HRC’s Tim Gajser took his second overall victory of the 2021 MXGP World Championship season after two solid motos at the sandy Oss circuit in the Netherlands. Not only were his three-two scores good enough to secure the top step of the podium, but he also increased his lead in the title standings from six points to 23 points, giving the Slovenian an almost full-moto advantage over his nearest rivals after just four rounds.
The riders knew they would be in for a tough day at the office as sand is well-known for sapping energy, and then combined with temperatures touching 30C at the Dutch track, it really made them work for every point. Thankfully, Gajser was up to the challenge, riding a smooth consistent first moto as those around him had erratic races. The #243 rounded the first lap in third place and made sure to avoid any mistakes, as he eventually crossed the line in the same position.
In race two, another top three start meant he was in a really strong position for the overall, and when he moved into second on lap three, it was all but secured. However, the Honda CRF450RW rider wanted to seal the moto win as well as the overall, and after pressuring the leader for 10 laps, he eventually swept into first. Unfortunately, that battle had knocked him out of his rhythm and he had to surrender the race win later on, but it was done, safe in the knowledge that he’d still be standing atop the podium, and with an even more secure grasp on the championship-leading red-plate.
The gap at the top now stands at 23 points but with the races coming thick and fast, and on all kinds of terrain, Gajser knows he can’t afford to rest on his laurels. Next weekend is the MXGP of the Czech Republic, which is hosted at the old-school venue of Loket, known for it’s hard-pack surface and hilly layout. Like all races this season, the MXGP action will take place on Sunday July 25th, with a morning practice followed by the two motos in the afternoon, where Gajser will be once again be continuing his quest for his third world title in a row.

Overall, I am happy with the day. Coming into the event I knew it would be difficult to take the victory as it was a new track for me and there are a lot of good sand riders, but I tried to ride smoothly, not taking too many risks and it paid off. Of course, I would have liked to have finished off with a win in the second moto but increasing my championship lead and getting on the top step of the podium was a good finish to the day. I know I still need to keep working hard though and I will make sure I’m ready for the hard-pack of Loket next weekend where hopefully there will be a lot of Slovenian fans who can cheer me on.

We are definitely pleased with how the day went, because with the new location, the sandy surface and the high temperatures, it certainly wasn’t an easy event for Tim and Team HRC. However, everyone put in the necessary work in order to come out on top and to extend our lead in the title race is great motivation to keep going in this tough run of races. Tim showed excellent patience today, in what were tough circumstances and despite the commanding lead, we know that things can change very quickly so he rode extremely smart and stayed safe and came out on top. We couldn’t ask for anything more, and are excited to continue the momentum into the Czech Republic next weekend.
