La matematica è ancora valida per il titolo Supercross 2021, è una situazione tosta per Ken Roczen che a SLC 1 sbaglia ancora e perde punti su Cooper Webb dopo aver preso il comando della gara, ma una scivolata in uscita di curva riduce le sue possibilità d’attacco per la corona…..ovviamente nulla è detto, perchè se guardiamo cosa è successo a Craig o anche negli anni passati, un qualsiasi fattore potrebbe succedere, ci sono ben 22 punti di distacco e i giochi non sono conclusi, uno zero a Webb e una vittoria o anche un 2° posto per Roczen potrebbe capovolgere la situazione, oppure una vittoria per Roczen e un 20° per Webb potrerebbe ad un finale diverso……Sono situazioni che bisogna prendere in esame, sicuramente Webb starà molto attento, ma provate ad immaginare una situazione tale come successe anni fa a Musquin che dovette rinunciare al titolo causa problema meccanico…..non lo auguriamo a nessuno ma la FINALE è sabato e vedremo come si concluderà la stagione, il titolo è nelle mani di Cooper Webb e solo il destino può cambiare i fatti!

Marvin Musquin: “Salt Lake è buono con me. Nel 2018 ho vinto la heat e il main, è stata una grande gara e stavo lottando per il campionato. Quest’anno è stata una storia diversa, ho avuto un grosso infortunio e ho perso tutto l’anno scorso. Il mio obiettivo era tornare indietro. Ho fatto delle belle gare ma ovviamente ho faticato e il risultato non è stato ottimo. Non ci posso credere in questo momento, sono in piedi sul gradino più alto del podio. Il mio obiettivo era migliorare sempre di più. Ci sono così tanti buoni piloti, potresti vederlo in prova, siamo così stretti. Kenny era davanti e non stava davvero andando via e dietro di me erano vicino. Stavo cercando di essere coerente. Quelle whoops erano davvero toste. Poi ho visto Coop arrivare e ho pensato: “Sì, facciamo del mio meglio!” Sono felice di aver dato il massimo stasera. ”
Cooper Webb: “Il secondo posto non è mai divertente, ma complimenti a Marv, è stata una lunga strada indietro per lui. Ha pompato per lui e la squadra per andare 1-2. Non sono partito bene stasera e questo mi ha ostacolato. Ho fatto delle buone mosse ma stavo faticando un po ‘presto. Mi sono fatto strada fino a Jason, ma Malcolm era davvero bravo in quelle whoops ed erano super difficili. Finalmente ho ottenuto una buona linea e mi sono sentito abbastanza bene, ho fatto una carica lì alla fine. Pensavo di essere in un’ottima posizione, ma alla fine Marv ha davvero fatto un passo avanti. I punti sono fondamentali, ma vuoi davvero vincere quando ti avvicini così tanto “.
Malcolm Stewart: “I fan dello Utah mi hanno fatto impazzire !. Quella è stata una gara così folle. È fantastico essere quassù e finalmente togliermi il peso dalle spalle. È un sogno che si avvera. ”
Ken Roczen: ““Che delusione, ancora una volta. Ho ottenuto l’holeshot nel main e ho aperto il campo, ma mi sono ritrovato a terra dopo aver piegato la parte anteriore prima delle whoops. Sono sceso di nuovo al sesto posto, ed è lì che abbiamo finito anche noi. Non c’è molto che io possa dire al riguardo, ad essere onesto; è un peccato. Ultimamente mi trovo a terra in generale, che normalmente non è il mio stile. Sto solo cercando di portare me e la mia squadra sul gradino più alto e non ha funzionato, quindi non vedo l’ora che arrivi il prossimo fine settimana “. ”

Jo Shimoda: “Per prima cosa voglio dire grazie mille alla mia famiglia e al mio team, e la mia famiglia è qui dal Giappone in questo momento, quindi è davvero bello farlo davanti a loro. Immagina di venire dal Giappone con solo una parte della tua famiglia, e poi corri in supercross e poi vinci? Questa è una cosa incredibile per me. Ho guidato al meglio tutto il giorno ed è qui che siamo finiti, quindi grazie. ”
Jett Lawrence: “Sono super pompato per Jo, è un mio buon amico, quindi complimenti a lui ma dannazione anche a te Jo, avevo bisogno di quei punti !. No, ho commesso alcuni stupidi errori che non avrei dovuto fare, sono depresso per questo. La pista era devastata. Devi colpire i tuoi segni perché sembra appiccicoso ma ha una base scivolosa. È bello essere di nuovo sul podio, mi è mancato. ”
Colt Nichols: “Sono un po ‘frustrato per come è andata, l’unico ragazzo che non avevo bisogno di vincere ha vinto, ma tanto di cappello a Jo, ha guidato alla grande, lo stesso per Jett. Triste vedere cosa è successo a Christian, non ti è mai piaciuto vederlo accadere a qualcuno, lo so perché ci sono passato. Ho avuto la mia giusta quota di infortuni. C’è molto sulla linea qui, e ho solo spinto, spinto spinto, ma ho finito il tempo. Jo ha fatto quello che doveva fare e io non l’ho fatto. ”

Marvin Musquin: “Salt Lake is good to me. Back in 2018 I won the heat and won the main, it was a great race and I was fighting for the championship. This year was a different story, I had a big injury and missed all of last year. My goal was to come back. I had some good races but I’ve been obviously struggling and the result hasn’t been great. I can’t believe it right now, I’m standing on the top of the podium. My goal was to get better and better. There’s so many good riders, ou could see it in practice, we’re so tight. Kenny was out front and he was not really going away and behind me was close. I was trying to be consistent. Those whoops were really tough. Then I saw Coop coming and I was like, “Yeah, let’s give it my best!” I’m happy I gave it my all tonight.”
Cooper Webb: “Second place is never fun, but congrats to Marv, it’s been a long road back for him. Pumped for him and the team to go 1-2. I didn’t get a good start tonight and that hindered me. I made some moves good moves but I was struggling a little bit early. Found my way up to Jason, I but Malcolm was really good in those whoops and they were super tricky. Finally got a good line and felt pretty good, made a charge there at the end. I thought I was in a great position but Marv really stepped it up at the end. Points is key, but you really want to win when you get that close.”
Malcolm Stewart: “Utah fans had me pumped up!. That was such a crazy race. This is so awesome to be up here and finally get the weight off my shoulders. It’s a dream come true.”
Ken Roczen: “What a bummer, once again. I got the holeshot in the main and gapped the field, but just found myself on the ground after tucking the front before the whoops. I dropped back to sixth, and that’s where we finished as well. There’s not much that I can say about it, to be honest; it’s unfortunate. I’m finding myself on the ground lately in general, which normally is not my style. I’m just trying to put my team and myself on the top step and it just hasn’t been working out, so I’m looking forward to next weekend.”
Jo Shimoda: “First I want to say thank you so much to my family and my team, and my family is here from Japan right now, so it’s really nice to do it in front of them. Just imagine coming over from Japan with only part of your family, and then you get to race supercross, and then winning? That’s an incredible thing to me. I rode my best all day and this is where we ended up, so thank you.”
Jett Lawrence: “I’m super pumped for Jo, he’s good buddy of mine, so congrats to him but also damn you Jo, I needed those points!. No, I made a few silly mistakes I shouldn’t have made, I’m bummed about that. Track’s gnarly. You have to hit your marks because it looks tacky but it has a slippery base. Good to be back on the podium, I missed this.”
Colt Nichols: “I’m a little frustrated with how it went, the one guy I didn’t need to have win won, but hats off to Jo, he rode great, same to Jett. Sad to see what happened to Christian, you never like to see that happen to someone, I know because. I’ve had my fair share of injuries. There’s a lot on the line here, and I just push, pushed pushed, but I ran out of time. Jo did what he had to do and I straight-up didn’t.”
