Campionato apertissimo, ovviamente non per tutti ma per tre piloti di sicuro, anche se la matematica includerebbe Barcia, Stewart e altri….ma chi è veramente in lotta e deve salire sul podio o vincere sono Roczen, Webb e Tomac, i primi due sono separati da 2 punti, Roczen e Webb hanno avuto anche da dire sui comportamenti in pista, non direttamente ma tramite le interviste di gara, sicuramente il campionato è in fiamme e ora dobbiamo attendere cosa succederà tra loro, visto che al tedesco non va giù la mossa di Webb, ma Cooper dice che c’ha provato e doveva farlo alla prima curva…. Tomac è ora a 24 punti dalla testa, torna a vincere dopo 7 gare e lo si dava per “spacciato” (qualcuno ha detto così n.d.r.) ma Daytona è la sua pista, quinta volta in carriera ed eguaglia Carmichael, forse quella di Eli è una strategia per le prossime gare che saranno ravvicinate, di cui le tre gare di Atlanta sono sulla falsariga di Daytona e li potrebbe fare una tripletta non indifferente!
Quindi siamo a metà campionato e ora si deve spingere fino alla fine, settimana prossima ci sarà un Sabato, Martedì, Sabato e poi pausa per 2 settimana per poi spararsi una altra tripletta e le ultime due, da qui se Tomac vuole il titolo DEVE vincere almeno 6 gare, considerando che gli altri due finiscano a podio, altrimenti i conti cambiano, mentre per Roczen e Webb la strada è più semplice per il campionato, separati da due punti e un conto da regolare! Detto questo, non male vedere Plessinger, ma vorremmo rivedere Anderson, Musquin che sfortunatamente ha avuto noie meccaniche, Ferrandis, Stewart e Barcia, se questi si interpongono tra i tre diventerebbe tutto molto più interessante!!!

Eli Tomac: “È stato divertente! Mi piace sempre guidare a Daytona ed è sempre stato un bene con me. Sono stato piuttosto strategico quando ho scelto il mio cancello nel main perché stavo guardando le altre gare di classe e di qualifica e ho capito che l’interno poteva essere la mia migliore possibilità di alzarmi davanti, che è esattamente quello che ho fatto. Anch’io ho lottato per questo. Una volta che sono uscito davanti, non stavo guardando indietro. Siamo ancora in questo campionato, quindi non scenderò senza combattere. Penso che abbiamo trovato un buon ritmo e non vedo l’ora che arrivi la nostra prossima tappa a Dallas. Sono grato per tutto il duro lavoro e il supporto di tutto il mio team Monster Energy Kawasaki, non avrei potuto farlo senza di loro, soprattutto cinque volte! ”
Webb: “È stata una serata fantastica. Stavo cercando di stare con Eli ma stava tirando il culo. Sicuramente ho guidato abbastanza stretto quel Main Event ma è quello che è, ho messo la testa lì alla fine e ho fatto dei buoni tempi sul giro e sono stato in grado di ottenere AP lì alla fine, il che è stato bello ottenere un altro podio stasera. È sempre divertente venire a Daytona, è sempre un grande evento “.
Aaron Plessinger: “Questa è sicuramente una scimmia che mi tira via dalle spalle, di sicuro. Tornando a Daytona due anni fa, ero sdraiato al pronto soccorso con un tallone in frantumi e non ero troppo sicuro di cosa sarebbe successo dopo, quindi venire qui e rimbalzare come ho appena fatto, è pazzesco. Sono senza parole. Mi sentivo come se avessi più da dare negli ultimi due giri, ma un podio è un podio e prenderò quello che posso ottenere. Sento che ora sarà un po ‘più facile. La pista era così difficile, con la sabbia nera e poi la sabbia della spiaggia e tutti i solchi. Alcune delle transizioni dei salti avevano dei kicker così grandi su di loro. È stato pazzesco. È stata una gara lunga, ma siamo finiti sul podio ed è tutto quello che posso chiedere in questo momento. Voglio solo ringraziare questi ragazzi per essersi fatti il culo e aver creduto in me. Andremo avanti. ”

Cameron McAdoo: “Era irreale. Questo è ciò per cui lavoriamo così duramente. Non posso ringraziare abbastanza tutti i ragazzi di Monster Energy / Pro Circuit / Kawasaki per avermi fornito tutti gli strumenti per arrivare qui. Ho una squadra così grande dietro di me. Devo fare un grido speciale a mia madre perché nel 2016 mi ha portato fino a Daytona in un furgone e ora è qui che siamo. Questo è solo l’inizio e non vedo l’ora di continuare a farmi il culo per altre notti come questa “.
Stilez Robertson: “La mia prima qualifica non è stata un granché, ma la seconda è arrivata e mi sentivo bene. Nella Heat, in realtà mi sentivo abbastanza bene e ho preso la decisione di tornare per il Main Event e ho fatto una partenza! Ho messo giù otto minuti buoni davanti e ho iniziato a pensarci troppo ed è stato allora che Mcadoo mi ha aggirato. Non volevo fare errori da principiante, quindi ho deciso di accontentarmi di un secondo e di imparare. ”
Pierce Brown: “Ho avuto degli alti e dei bassi durante i miei tempi di inattività e ho pensato che sarebbe passato un po ‘di tempo prima di tornare qui, ma la prima gara è tornata e un podio è fantastico e sono così entusiasta! Ho fatto una buona partenza, sono stato rimescolato per le prime due curve ma ho preso il mio ritmo, ho iniziato a fare sorpassi e poi mi sono reso conto di essere terzo. Ho visto arrivare la bandiera bianca e sapevo che Justin [Cooper] aveva puntato su di me, quindi sapevo che dovevo farlo accadere. ”

Eli Tomac: “That was fun! I always enjoy riding at Daytona and it’s always been good to me. I was pretty strategic when picking my gate in the main because I was watching the other class and heat races and realized the inside might be my best shot at getting up front, which is exactly what I did. I fought for it too. Once I got out front, I wasn’t looking back. We’re still in this championship, so I’m not going down without a fight. I think we’ve found a good groove and I’m looking forward to our next stop in Dallas. I’m grateful for all the hard work and support from my entire Monster Energy Kawasaki team, I couldn’t have done this without them, especially five times!”
Webb: “It was a great night. I was trying to hang with Eli but he was hauling butt. I definitely rode pretty tight that Main Event but is what it is, I put my head down there at the end and made some good lap times and I was able to get AP there at the end, which was nice to get another podium tonight. It’s always fun coming to Daytona, it’s always a great event.”
Aaron Plessinger: “This is definitely a monkey off my back, for sure. Going back to Daytona two years ago, I was lying in the emergency room with a shattered heel and not too sure what was going to happen after that, so to come here and rebound like I just did, it’s crazy. I’m speechless. I felt like I had more to give on the last couple of laps, but a podium is a podium and I’ll take what I can get. I feel like it’s going to come a little bit easier now. The track was so gnarly, with the black sand and then beach sand and all the ruts. Some of the transitions of the jumps had such big kickers on them. It was crazy. It was a long race, but we ended up on the podium, and that’s all I can ask for right now. I just want to give a shout-out to these guys for working their butts off and believing in me. We’re going to keep going.”

Cameron McAdoo: “That was unreal. That is what we work so hard for. I can’t thank all of the guys at Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki enough for providing me all of the tools to get here. I have such a great team behind me. I have to give a special shout out to my mom because in 2016, she drove me all the way out here to Daytona in a van and now this is where we are. This is just the beginning and I look forward to continue working my butt off for more nights like this.”
Stilez Robertson: “My first qualifying was not that great but the second one came around and I was feeling good. In the heat race, I actually felt pretty good and made the decision to go back to the knobby for the Main Event and I ripped a start! I put down a good eight minutes out front and started thinking about it too much and that’s when Mcadoo got around me. I didn’t want to make any rookie mistakes so I decided to settle into second and learn.”
Brown: “I had some highs and some lows during my downtime and thought it would be a while before I was back up here but first race back and a podium – this is awesome and I’m so stoked! I had a really good start, I got shuffled back for the first couple of corners but I got into my pace, started making passes and next thing I know I was in third. I saw the white flag coming and I knew Justin [Cooper] was right on me, so I knew I had to make it happen.”
