JUSTIN BARCIA A GAS CON PODIUM FINISH AD ORLANDO

TROY LEE DESIGNS / RED BULL / GASGAS FACTORY RACING QUARTO NELLA CLASSIFICA 450SX

Justin Barcia di Troy Lee Designs / Red Bull / GASGAS Factory Racing è tornato sul podio della 450SX sabato sera con un determinato terzo posto a Orlando, in Florida. Barcia si è trovato in una posizione difficile dopo un grosso incidente in qualifica, ma ha scavato in profondità e ha ribaltato la serata, guadagnandosi il terzo podio della stagione all’ottavo round.

La giornata avrebbe potuto concludersi con un esito molto peggiore per Barcia dopo aver subito un brutto incidente durante la prima sessione di prove libere che lo ha lasciato sbattuto e seduto al 18 ° posto assoluto in testa al programma di corse. Il pilota affettuosamente conosciuto come “BAM BAM” si è rispolverato e si è lanciato nella notte, riprendendo l’acceleratore con una partenza tra i primi cinque nella gara di qualifica. Combattendo subito fuori dal podio, Barcia è rimasto quarto per la maggior parte della gara, ma un passaggio dell’ultimo minuto gli ha dato un solido trasferimento del quinto posto nella classifica generale.

Barcia si è schierato per un ottimo inizio nel Main Event mentre ha inchiodato un altro holeshot a bordo della sua MC 450F, stabilendosi secondo al primo giro. È stato superato presto ed è andato al quarto posto, guidando un gruppo di piloti in lotta per una possibilità sul podio. A metà gara, Barcia è stato dotato del terzo posto quando Adam Cianciarulo è caduto, ma spettava a lui sfruttare l’opportunità con un bel terzo posto. Ha tenuto a bada il leader della classifica Ken Roczen negli ultimi giri per conquistare il posto finale sul podio, dandogli una spinta fino al quarto posto nella classifica del campionato 450SX.

Barcia: “Sicuramente è stata una giornata dura, ho avuto un incidente in prova e mi sono quasi distrutto. Ho dovuto riorganizzarmi e mi sentivo come se fossi migliorato un po ‘. Abbiamo apportato molte modifiche alla moto per il Main Event e sono partito alla grande. Ho preso la mia velocità alla fine della gara e sono entrato in un flusso, che è stato bello. Per com’è andata la mattinata, salire sul podio è stata una gara solida. Ovviamente, voglio molto di più da me stesso, ma sarà bello avere una settimana di ferie, riorganizzarmi e recuperare il corpo prima di andare a Daytona, cosa per cui sono entusiasta “.

Il pilota del team Pierce Brown era originariamente previsto per schierarsi per il round di apertura del campionato regionale occidentale 250SX sabato, ma alla fine ha preso la dura decisione di ritardare il suo debutto sulla MC 250F mentre continua a guadagnare più tempo sulla moto dopo l’intervento chirurgico ACL lo scorso settembre.

Il team Troy Lee Designs / Red Bull / GASGAS Factory Racing si godrà un fine settimana di pausa dalle corse prima di tornare sul gas il 6 marzo al leggendario Daytona International Speedway in Florida.

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing’s Justin Barcia returned to the 450SX podium on Saturday night with a determined third-place finish in Orlando, Florida. Barcia found himself in a tough position after a big crash in qualifying but he dug deep and turned the night around, earning his third podium of the season at round eight. 
  • The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing MC 450F delivered its third Main Event holeshot of the season
  • Barcia overcame a rough start to the day, emerging with a podium finish and fourth overall in the championship standings
  • Pierce Brown missed the opening round of 250SX West but looks to debut the MC 250F soon
The day could have ended with a much worse outcome for Barcia after experiencing a rough crash during the first practice session that left him banged up and sitting in 18th overall heading into the racing program. The rider affectionately known as “BAM BAM” dusted himself off and charged into the night, getting on the gas with a top-five start in the heat race. Battling just outside the podium early on, Barcia held onto fourth for most of the race but a last-minute pass gave him a solid fifth-place transfer into the main.
 
Barcia lined himself up for a great start in the Main Event as he nailed another holeshot aboard his MC 450F, settling into second on the first lap. He got passed early on and went to fourth, leading a hard-charging pack of riders all fighting for a chance at the podium. Mid-race, Barcia was gifted the third-place position when Adam Cianciarulo went down but it was up to him to capitalize on the opportunity with a strong ride in third. He held off points leader Ken Roczen in the final laps to assume the final spot on the podium, giving him a nudge up to fourth in the 450SX championship standings.
 
Barcia: “It was a tough day for sure, I had a crash in practice and kind of destroyed myself. I had to regroup and I felt like I got a little bit better. We made a lot of changes on the bike for the Main Event and I got off to a great start. I picked my speed up at the end of the race and I got into a flow, which was cool. For how the morning went, to be up on the podium was a solid race. Obviously, I want a lot more out of myself but it will be nice to have a week off, regroup and get the body right before heading to Daytona, which I’m excited for.”
 
Team rider Pierce Brown was originally slated to line up for the opening round of the 250SX Western Regional Championship on Saturday but ultimately made the tough decision to push back his debut on the MC 250F as he continues to log more time on the bike following ACL surgery last September.
 
The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing team will enjoy a weekend off from racing before getting back on the gas March 6 at the legendary Daytona International Speedway in Florida.
