I primi chilometri della tappa della giornata correranno lungo la costa del Mar Rosso, poi si dirigeranno verso piste più veloci e piste sabbiose, prima di tornare a Neom. Anche se lo sfondo di questo speciale appare idilliaco, sarà comunque uno dei più impegnativi della 43a edizione della Dakar. I concorrenti dovranno diffidare dalle difficoltà di navigazione, ma anche problemi meccanici e forature.

Toby Price è caduto dopo 155 km e si è infortunato al braccio sinistro e alla spalla. È un duro colpo per l’australiano, che era solo un minuto dietro Nacho Cornejo in classifica generale. Lo spagnolo, infatti, è tornato in testa alla tappa, dopo 157 km.
