Dopo che la prima parte della tappa della maratona si è rivelata per alcuni un’esperienza faticosa, la seconda parte darà a chi si è allentato ieri l’opportunità di guadagnare un vantaggio significativo. Una speciale di 375 km attende i concorrenti sulla strada per Neom, caratterizzato da un percorso disseminato di pietre e pieno di sabbia. Ancora una volta, i concorrenti dovranno essere in massima allerta per evitare errori di navigazione, meccaniche e gomme sgonfie!

11:48 Le prime moto sono già finite!
Nacho Cornejo e Ricky Brabec hanno già raggiunto il traguardo nella speciale del giorno, ma il vincitore della tappa non sarà noto fino a quando Toby Price o Kevin Benavides non avranno finito.

11:36 Price mantiene il comando
Toby Price è ancora in testa davanti a Nacho Cornejo a poco più di 100 km dal traguardo. Joan Barreda è a soli 49 ” dal suo rivale australiano. Kevin Benavides segue Price di 1’26 ’’ mentre Matthias Walkner e Sam Sunderland sono entrambi più di due minuti dietro l’attuale leader di tappa.

1:32 Motore rotto per Caimi
Il team Yamaha ha subito un altro colpo! Dopo Ross Branch ieri, caduto e perso tempo prezioso, ora Franco Caimi si è scontrato con la sfortuna. Il motore argentino ha ceduto dopo 282 km e non è in grado di ripararlo.

10:41 Top 3 in 30 secondi!
Dopo 225 km, Toby Price ha ancora un vantaggio di dieci secondi su Nacho Cornejo. Joan Barreda è pronta a balzare, a soli 24 ”. Kevin Benavides, Matthias Walkner e Sam Sunderland non sono ancora riusciti a colmare il divario e unirsi alla battaglia, mentre Ricky Brabec, il vincitore di ieri, ha perso più di tre minuti ed è solo secondo davanti a Xavier De Soultrait.

Dopo Toby Price e i suoi problemi alla ruota posteriore, ora Xavier De Soultrait ha dovuto fare delle riparazioni a tampone con anelli di bloccaggio, ma questa volta sulla ruota anteriore. Dopo 190 km, il pilota Husqvarna ha perso più di tre minuti contro Toby Price.

A metà percorso, Toby Price è ancora in testa, con un vantaggio di poco più di dieci secondi su Nacho Cornejo, che ha preceduto il suo compagno di squadra Joan Barreda. Joan Barreda, che ieri ha subito danni alle gomme, è salita in seconda posizione al primo time check point, a soli 12 ”da Toby Price. Lo spagnolo si è spostato davanti ai suoi due compagni di squadra Honda e con Avec Xavier De Soultrait e Kevin Benavides, sei piloti sono tutti all’interno dello stesso girone di 30 secondi.

Al primo check point, Toby Price occupa provvisoriamente il primo posto. L’australiano guida Ricky Brabec, che ha dovuto aprire la strada ai suoi rivali, il leader della classifica generale Nacho Cornejo e Xavier De Soultrait. Tuttavia, altri protagonisti che hanno iniziato in seguito non hanno ancora raggiunto il primo WP, come Joan Barreda o de Kevin Benavides.

Nella categoria Original by Motul, Maurizio Gerini possiede un vantaggio di trenta secondi su Arūnas Gelažninkas al termine della prima parte della tappa della maratona. Tuttavia, più significativamente l’italiano e il lituano sono più di 20 ‘davanti a Emanuel Gyenes; il detentore del titolo è ora in ritardo di oltre un’ora nella classifica generale. La battaglia per la vittoria definitiva sarà molto probabilmente una corsa a due cavalli tra Gerini e Gelažninkas!

Toby Price ha danneggiato la sua gomma posteriore ieri durante la prima parte della tappa della maratona. Tuttavia, l’australiano, che è solo un secondo dietro Nacho Cornejo in classifica generale, ha trovato una soluzione fissando il suo pneumatico con anelli di bloccaggio!

07:40 Brabec inizia la giornata!
Ricky Brabec è il primo corridore a iniziare la seconda parte della tappa della maratona. L’americano, che ieri non si aspettava di vincere, apre la strada al compagno di squadra Nacho Cornejo e Skyler Howes. Come promemoria, Brabec è all’ottavo posto in classifica generale, a poco meno di un quarto d’ora dal leader di categoria.

Il cileno Nacho Cornejo guida la classifica generale con un sottile margine di un secondo su Toby Price. Sam Sunderland e Xavier De Soultrait sono a poco più di due minuti di ritardo. 1. 11:48 The first bikes have finished already!

   Nacho Cornejo and Ricky Brabec have already reached the finishing line on the day’s special, but the stage winner will not be known until Toby Price or Kevin Benavides have finished.

   Toby Price is still in the lead ahead of Nacho Cornejo with a little more than 100 km to go before the finishing line. Joan Barreda is only 49’’ behind his Australian rival.    The Yamaha team have suffered another blow! After Ross Branch yesterday, who fell and lost valuable time, now Franco Caimi has come up against misfortune. The Argentinean’s engine has given out after 282 km and he is not able to repair it.

2. 10:41 Top 3 within 30 seconds!

   After 225 km, Toby Price still possesses a lead of ten seconds over Nacho Cornejo. Joan Barreda is ready to pounce, just 24’’ behind. Kevin Benavides, Matthias Walkner and Sam Sunderland have not yet managed to bridge the gap and join in the battle, whilst Ricky Brabec, yesterday’s winner, has lost more than three minutes and is only on second ahead of Xavier De Soultrait.

1. 10:21 Now it’s De Soultrait’s turn to tinker

   After Toby Price and his rear wheel problems, now Xavier De Soultrait has had to make stop-gap repairs with clamp rings, but this time on his front wheel. After 190 km, the Husqvarna rider has lost more than three minutes to Toby Price.

   At the midway point, Toby Price still leads, with an advantage of a little more than ten seconds over Nacho Cornejo, who has moved ahead of his team-mate Joan Barreda. The leading trio are within the same 30’’ seconds! Kevin Benavides remains in fourth position a little less than 1’30’’ behind, virtually the same amount of time ahead of fifth-placed Sam Sunderland.

   After 122 km, Joan Barreda still leads, 21’’ in front of Toby Price and 37’’ ahead of Nacho Cornejo. The Spaniard is regaining valuable time over some riders ahead of him in the general standings: almost 1’30 on Ricky Brabec, 2’ on Xavier De Soultrait or more than 3’ on Sam Sunderland.

   Ricky Brabec, opening the way today, has lost 1’40’’ to Joan Barreda at the second intermediate point. Despite DIY repairs on a damaged rear tyre, Toby Price is second, just 21’’ behind his Spanish rival. Nacho Cornejo is not father behind either, trailing the stage leader by just 32’’.

3. 09:05 Barreda pulls out all the stops

   Joan Barreda, who suffered tyre damage yesterday, has climbed into second position at the first time check point, just 12’’ behind Toby Price. The Spaniard has moved in front of his two Honda team-mates and with Avec Xavier De Soultrait plus Kevin Benavides, six riders are all within the same 30 second bracket.

   At the first time check point, Toby Price occupies first place provisionally. The Australian leads Ricky Brabec, who has had to open the way for his rivals, general standings leader Nacho Cornejo and Xavier De Soultrait. 5. 08:10 Gerini and Gelažninkas open up a gap

   In the Original by Motul category, Maurizio Gerini possesses a lead of thirty seconds over Arūnas Gelažninkas on completion of the first part of the marathon stage. However, more significantly the Italian and the Lithuanian are more than 20’ ahead of Emanuel Gyenes; the title holder now lags behind by more than one hour in the general standings. The battle for outright victory is very likely to be a two-horse race between Gerini and Gelažninkas!

6. 07:55 Price does it like MacGyver

   Toby Price damaged his rear tyre yesterday during the first part of the marathon stage. Nonetheless, the Australian, who is only one second behind Nacho Cornejo in the general standings, has found a solution by fixing his tyre using clamp rings!

7. 07:40 Brabec gets the day underway!

   Ricky Brabec is the first rider to start the second part of the marathon stage. The American, who was not expecting to win yesterday, is opening the way for his team-mate Nacho Cornejo and Skyler Howes. As a reminder, Brabec is in eighth place in the general standings, just less than a quarter of an hour behind the category leader.

8. 07:35 Four men within 2′30″ at the top!

   Chilean Nacho Cornejo leads the general standings by a razor-thin margin of one second over Toby Price. Sam Sunderland and Xavier De Soultrait are just over two minutes back. But keep an eye out for the Honda duo of Joan Barreda, who opened the way yesterday, and Kevin Benavides, who lost over ten minutes due to a blunder in the final kilometres. Finally, the winner of the stage on Sunday, Ricky Brabec, is banking on finishing in the top 7 every day until Jeddah and hoping this will do the job. The motorbike race is still up for grabs!

9. 07:10 Off to Neom!

   After the first part of the marathon stage proved to be a gruelling experience for some, the second part will give those who eased up yesterday an opportunity to gain a significant edge. A 375 km special awaits the competitors on the road to Neom, featuring a course littered with stones and packed with sand. Once again, competitors will have to be on high alert to avoid navigation errors, mechanicals and flat tyres!
