| MONACO (Principato di Monaco) 18 dicembre 2020 – Si dice che vincere un titolo sia difficile ma difenderlo è ancora più difficile. Nonostante la pressione aggiuntiva, Tim Gajser del Team HRC è riuscito abbastanza bene a difendere con successo la sua vittoria nel campionato 2019 e conquistare la corona in MXGP in questa stagione, rendendolo il suo quarto titolo mondiale.
Tim Gajser ha iniziato il suo viaggio nel motocross abbastanza giovane, poiché ha ottenuto la sua prima moto all’età di tre anni e poi all’età di sette anni (2006) è entrato nel campionato EMX65, dove è arrivato 3 ° . Tornato di nuovo l’anno successivo, un giovane Gajser ha rivendicato il titolo quell’anno e poi ha ripetuto il suo successo due anni dopo nella categoria EMX85. Nel 2010 ha debuttato nel campionato EMX125 e nel 2012, all’età di quindici anni, ha dominato la classe per vincere il titolo del campionato EMX125 e diventare anche il campione del mondo FIM 125cc Junior Motocross anche quella stagione. L’anno successivo, Gajser ha fatto il suo debutto nel Campionato del Mondo MX2 per finire 20° in classifica e la stagione successiva è stato raccolto da Honda Gariboldi (ora noto come Team HRC) e ha avuto un anno molto migliore quando ha concluso la campagna in 5° , con 9 top five e 6 podi. La stagione 2015 ha visto lo sloveno rivendicare il suo primo titolo mondiale diventando il campione del mondo MX2, quella volta. Sebbene abbia faticato all’inizio della stagione, Gajser è stato in grado di cambiare le cose quando la serie è tornata in Europa per ottenere la sua prima vittoria in MX2 e la vittoria del GP all’MXGP del Trentino, in Italia. Ha poi combattuto un infortunio durante un paio di gare, anche se è riuscito a tornare forte e conquistare quel titolo entro la fine della stagione. Nel 2016, Gajser è passato alla classe regina MXGP, dove era a dir poco straordinario. Lo sloveno ha vinto un totale di 15 gare, 7 Gran Premi e ha preso un totale di 15 su 17 podi possibili. Dopo aver mostrato maturità e forza per tutta la stagione, Gajser ha fatto la storia per conquistare titoli consecutivi in MX2 e MXGP diventando il campione del 2016. La stagione 2017 è stata dura per Gajser, che si è schierato al turno di apertura in Qatar come campione in carica, ma un anno pieno di incidenti e infortuni ha reso difficile allo sloveno reagire, il che lo ha costretto ad accontentarsi. Quinta posizione quella volta. Poi il 2018 è stato un altro duro colpo, dato che è entrato in stagione con un grosso infortunio, il che ha significato che ha dovuto saltare il round di apertura, a causa del recupero. Quell’anno Gajser finì senza vittorie, ma riuscì comunque a mantenere il 4° posto in classifica. L’anno successivo, 2019, Gajser ha riacquistato le sue forze ed è stata la costanza che lo ha aiutato a vincere il suo terzo titolo dopo una stagione che lo ha visto vincere 16 gare, 9 GP e fare 15 presenze sul podio. Il momento clou per molti di quella stagione è stata senza dubbio l’epica battaglia tra Gajser e Antonio Cairoli durante l’MXGP del Trentino, che è stata una svolta nel campionato e un enorme impulso di fiducia per lo sloveno. Nel 2020 Gajser si è schierato al round di apertura a Matterley Basin come campione del mondo in carica, ancora una volta, un’etichetta che non è facile da trasportare. La prima gara in Gran Bretagna non ha dato il risultato che il pilota Honda avrebbe voluto, anche se è stato in grado di riscattarsi nella seconda manche per vincere la gara e assicurarsi il secondo sul podio. Lo ha seguito con un altro podio in Olanda e in Lettonia, anche se il secondo e il terzo round durante il triplo colpo di testa lettone si sono rivelati difficili per lo sloveno che ha lottato con problemi tecnici, oltre a costosi incidenti ed errori. Ha saputo scrollarsi di dosso quella sfortuna di tornare sul podio durante l’MXGP di Città di Faenza, così come l’MXGP dell’Emilia Romagna in Italia, dove si è piazzato ancora una volta secondo assoluto. Mentre la serie si dirigeva a Mantova per un altro trio di gare, il round di apertura, l’MXGP della Lombardia avrebbe visto Gajser prendere finalmente la tabella rossa, prima di aggiungere due GP complessivi dopo, vincendo l’MXGP d’Europa. Nei successivi 7 GP Gajser è salito costantemente sul podio, vincendo il Gran Premio di Lommel e gli ultimi due round a Pietramurata. Questa stagione Gajser si è dimostrato il concorrente più forte e un degno vincitore nella classe MXGP, poiché ha rivendicato il titolo al round d’inizio dell’MXGP di Pietramurata. “Sembra semplicemente incredibile. Come ho detto molte volte, vincerne uno è incredibile, ma ora quattro è solo … sono senza parole. Sono veramente felice. È stata una stagione strana, ma comunque alla fine tutto si è risolto e abbiamo vinto un altro titolo ”ha dichiarato Gajser. Il 2021 sarà un altro grande anno per lo sloveno che senza dubbio coglierà l’occasione, ancora una volta, per difendere il suo titolo e inseguire il campionato numero 5!

Tim Gajser: 2020 MXGP World Champion – Read More on the MXGP Mag
MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 18 December 2020 – They say winning a title is hard but defending it is even harder. Despite the added pressure, Team HRC’s Tim Gajser managed it pretty well to successfully defend his 2019 Championship win and take the crown in MXGP this season, making it his fourth world title.
Tim Gajser started his journey in motocross pretty young, as he got his first bike at the age of three and then by the age of seven (2006) he entered the EMX65 Championship, where he finished 3rd. Back for more the following year, a young Gajser claimed the title that year and then repeated his success two years later in the EMX85 category.
In 2010, he made his debut in the EMX125 Championship and by 2012, at the age of fifteen, he dominated the class to win the EMX125 Championship title and become the FIM 125cc Junior Motocross World Champion that season too.
The following year, Gajser made his debut in the MX2 World Championship to finish 20th in the standings and the next season he was picked up by Honda Gariboldi (now known as Team HRC) and had a much better year as he finished the campaign in 5th, with 9 top five overalls and 6 podium finishes.
The 2015 season saw the Slovenian claim his first world title as he became the MX2 World Champion, that time around. Though he struggled in the beginning of the season, Gajser was able to turn things around when the series returned to Europe to get his first MX2 race win and GP victory at the MXGP of Trentino, Italy. He then fought an injury during a couple of the races, though was able to come back strong and clinch that title by the end of the season.
In 2016, Gajser made the move up to the premier MXGP class, where he was nothing short of extraordinary. The Slovenian won a total of 15 races, 7 Grand Prix’s and took a total of 15 out of a possible 17 podiums. Having showed maturity and strength all season long, Gajser made history to take back-to-back titles in MX2 and MXGP as he became the 2016 Champion.
The 2017 season was a tough one for Gajser, as he lined-up at the opening round in Qatar as the defending champion, but a year full of crashes and injuries made it hard for the Slovenian to fight back, which forced him to settle for 5th that time around. Then 2018 was another blow, as he entered the season with a big injury, which meant he had to skip the opening round, due to recovery. That year Gajser finished without any victories, though still managed 4th place in the championship standings.
The following year, 2019, Gajser regained his strength and it was consistency which helped him win his third title following a season that saw him win 16 races, 9 GP’s and make 15 podium appearances. The stand-out moment for many from that season was no doubt the epic battle between Gajser and Antonio Cairoli during the MXGP of Trentino, which was a turning point in the championship and a huge confidence boost for the Slovenian.
In 2020 Gajser lined up at the opening round in Matterley Basin as the defending world champion, once again, a label which is not easy to carry. The first race in Great Britain did not deliver the result the Honda rider would have wanted, though he was able to redeem himself in the second heat to take the race win and secure second on the podium. He followed that with another podium in the Netherlands and in Latvia, though the second and third rounds during the Latvian triple-header proved to be tough for the Slovenian who struggled with technical issues, as well as costly crashes and mistakes.
He was able to shake that bad luck to come back onto the podium during the MXGP of Città di Faenza, as well as the MXGP of Emilia Romagna in Italy, where he placed second overall once again. As the series headed to Mantova for another trio of races, the opening round, the MXGP of Lombardia would see Gajser finally take the red plate, before adding an overall two GP’s later as he won the MXGP of Europe. At the next 7 GP’s Gajser was consistently on the podium, winning Grand Prix’s in Lommel as well as the last two rounds in Pietramurata.
This season Gajser proved himself as the strongest competitor and a worthy winner in the MXGP class, as he claimed the title a round early during the MXGP of Pietramurata.
“It feels just unbelievable. Like I said many times, winning one is incredible but now four is just… I’m speechless. I’m really happy. It was a weird season, but anyway in the end everything came together, and we won another title” shared Gajser.
2021 will be another big year for the Slovenian who will no doubt rise to the occasion, once again, to defend his title and go after championship number 5!
