Il campione MXGP 2020 Tim Gajser sigilla il titolo con la vittoria dell’MXGP di Pietramurata
Tim Gajser del Team HRC ha reso una giornata perfetta in Trentino, in Italia, vincendo il Campionato Mondiale Motocross MXGP 2020 dopo i suoi due risultati, che sono stati abbastanza buoni da portare anche la vittoria assoluta all’MXGP di Pietramurata.
Entrando nella corsa di oggi, Gajser aveva bisogno di battere il suo rivale più vicino di due punti nella prima gara, o segnare 27 punti in totale per assicurarsi il campionato. Dopo una brutta partenza, sembrava improbabile ma il pilota della Honda CRF450RW ha trovato rapidamente il suo ritmo e ha registrato il giro più veloce della moto mentre sfrecciava attraverso il campo. A metà gara era al secondo posto e anche se ha esercitato forti pressioni sul leader, non è stato del tutto in grado di mantenere il passaggio. Tuttavia, in quella fase sapeva che il secondo posto sarebbe stato abbastanza buono da suggellare il suo quarto titolo mondiale e la sua seconda corona MXGP consecutiva, tagliando il traguardo per innescare scene di celebrazione.
Dopo un anno difficile per l’intero campionato con la pausa di cinque mesi dopo il secondo round, Gajser ha dimostrato ancora una volta di essere il miglior pilota in questa classe MXGP altamente competitiva, vincendo più gare, conducendo più giri e registrando più giri più veloci di chiunque altro . Difendere un titolo è sempre una grande sfida, ma Gajser ha continuamente dimostrato velocità e controllo ed è riuscito a concludere questo campionato 2020 con tre moto ancora rimaste.
Ovviamente, il # 243 (recentemente cambiato in # 1 per gara due) voleva ancora ottenere la vittoria assoluta qui in Trentino, e sapeva che una vittoria in gara avrebbe fatto proprio questo. Come è diventata la norma nelle ultime settimane, il pilota Honda ha strappato un altro holeshot prima di guidare ogni momento in quella che è stata una battaglia serrata per la bandiera a scacchi. Questo è stato il suo quarto assoluto in soli sette round e il modo perfetto per concludere la sua giornata vincente.
Dopo i festeggiamenti, il team si concentrerà ora sul finire la stagione in alto cercando di vincere l’MXGP del Garda-Trentino, il 18 ° e ultimo round di questo campionato del mondo 2020.

È incredibile essere campione del mondo per la quarta volta. Vincere una volta è fantastico, ma quattro volte sono semplicemente senza parole. È stata una stagione strana con il COVID-19 e poi la pausa tra il secondo e il terzo round, ma alla fine, tutto si è riunito e abbiamo vinto un altro titolo!
Correre oggi è stato molto bello, nella prima gara non ho avuto la migliore partenza ma sono comunque riuscito a entrare in campo e finire secondo e questo significava che se avessi vinto gara due, avrei preso la classifica generale. Nella seconda manche ho preso l’holeshot e poi ho avuto una bella battaglia con Romain fino alla bandiera a scacchi. Abbiamo spinto per tutto il tempo, quindi sono felicissimo di vincere questo titolo e la classifica generale nello stesso giorno. Un grande ringraziamento a tutto il Team HRC, ci sono molte persone coinvolte che non hanno potuto essere qui oggi, quindi un grande grazie a tutti loro ea tutti coloro che mi hanno supportato durante tutto l’anno. È un privilegio guidare per questa squadra e apprezzo ogni singola persona che mi ha aiutato. Grazie!

È stata una grande stagione per Tim e merita assolutamente di vincere questo titolo. Lavora molto duramente e non potrei essere più felice per lui e per tutta la squadra. È un grande gruppo di persone qui e dopo aver sperimentato l’atmosfera quest’anno, sono davvero felice di essere di nuovo qui l’anno prossimo. L’infortunio sta progredendo molto bene e sto puntando ad arrivare al 2021 proprio come ho iniziato quest’anno, sapendo che guiderò una moto vincitrice del campionato.

Che risultato straordinario di Tim! Vincere titoli consecutivi è estremamente difficile da fare e merita pienamente tutti i riconoscimenti che riceve. Con tutto quello che è successo quest’anno, è stata dura mantenere un livello così alto di prestazioni, ma tutti nel Team HRC hanno fatto un ottimo lavoro e non potrei essere più orgoglioso degli sforzi che hanno fatto. Per Tim , questo è il suo quarto titolo mondiale e ora è il pilota Honda di maggior successo nella storia, ma non si lascia influenzare da tutta la fama ed è ancora un vero piacere lavorare con lui. Congratulazioni Tim! Inoltre, vorrei dire un grande ringraziamento a tutti i nostri sponsor che hanno lavorato con noi quest’anno per raggiungere questo obiettivo. È stata una delle stagioni più difficili da pianificare eppure tutti sono stati brillanti e non avremmo potuto farlo senza tutto quel supporto. Complimenti a tutti per un anno così fantastico!

2020 MXGP Champion Tim Gajser seals title with MXGP of Pietramurata victory
Team HRC’s Tim Gajser made it a perfect day in Trentino, Italy, winning the 2020 MXGP World Motocross Championship after his two-one results, which were good enough to also take the overall victory at the MXGP of Pietramurata.
Coming into today’s racing, Gajser needed to beat his closest rival by two points in the first race, or score 27 points in total in order to secure the championship. After a bad start, this was looking unlikely but the Honda CRF450RW rider quickly found his rhythm and posted the fastest lap of the moto as he swept through the field. By the midpoint of the race he was in second place and although he pressured the leader heavily, he wasn’t quite able to make the pass stick. However, at that stage he knew second place would be good enough to seal his fourth world title, and his second MXGP crown in succession, crossing the line to spark scenes of celebration.
After a difficult year for the whole championship with the five-month break after round two, Gajser once again proved that he was the best rider in this highly competitive MXGP class, winning more races, leading more laps and posting more fastest laps than anyone else. Defending a title is always a big challenge, but Gajser has continually shown speed and control and he managed to wrap up this 2020 championship with three motos still remaining.
Of course, the #243 (newly changed to #1 for race two) still wanted to take the overall victory here in Trentino, and he knew a race win would do just that. As has become the norm in recent weeks, the Honda rider ripped another holeshot before leading every moment in what was a tight battle to the chequered flag. This was his fourth overall in just seven rounds and the perfect way to finish his championship-winning day.
After the celebrations, the team will now focus on finishing the season on a high by trying to win the MXGP of Garda-Trentino, the 18th and final round of this 2020 world championship.

It feels unbelievable to be world champion for a fourth time. Winning one time is amazing, but four times, I’m just speechless. It was a weird season with the COVID-19 and then the break between the rounds two and three, but in the end, everything came together and we won another title!
Racing today was very nice, in the first race, I didn’t have the best start but I was still able to come through the field and finish second and that meant that if I could win race two, I would take the overall. In the second moto I grabbed the holeshot and then had a really good battle with Romain all the way to the chequered flag. We were pushing the whole time so I’m super happy to win this title and the overall on the same day. A big thanks to the whole of Team HRC, there are a lot of people who are involved who couldn’t be here today so a big thank you to all of them and to everyone who has supported me all year long. It is a privilege to ride for this team and I appreciate every single person who has helped me. Thank you!

It has been a great season for Tim, and he thoroughly deserves to win this title. He works extremely hard and I couldn’t be happier for him and the whole team. It is a great group of people here and having now experienced the atmosphere this year, I am really happy to be here again next year. The injury is progressing really well and I’m aiming to come into 2021 just how I started this year, knowing that I’ll be riding a championship-winning bike.

What an amazing accomplishment by Tim! To win back-to-back titles is extremely difficult to do, and he fully deserves all the accolades he receives. With everything that has happened this year, it has been tough to maintain such a high level of performance, but everyone in Team HRC has done such a great job and I couldn’t be prouder of the efforts that they have put in. For Tim, this is his fourth world title and he is now the most successful Honda rider in history, but he doesn’t let all the fame affect him and he is still an absolute pleasure to work with. Congratulations Tim! Also, I’d like to say a big thanks to all our sponsors who worked with us this year to achieve this goal. It’s been one of the most difficult seasons to plan for and yet everybody has been brilliant and we couldn’t have done it without all that support. Well done everyone for such a great year!
