Il secondo assoluto porta Gajser a breve distanza dal quarto titolo
Tim Gajser del Team HRC è arrivato secondo assoluto all’MXGP del Trentino dopo 1-4 punteggi di manche, portandosi a 27 punti dal suo quarto titolo mondiale di motocross.
La pista dura di Pietramurata in Italia è la sede di questo triplo finale, e la pista stretta e tecnica ha fornito corse ravvicinate per tutto il tempo in cui i piloti hanno avuto difficoltà a fare mosse. Ciò non ha influito su Gajser in gara uno, poiché il pilota della Honda CRF450RW è precipitato in un altro holeshot. Ha rapidamente tirato fuori un paio di secondi al primo giro e non si è guardato indietro da lì, controllando bene la gara e alla fine portando un vantaggio di quasi 10 secondi al secondo posto e di oltre 30 secondi al terzo. Venendo da un’esibizione dominante nella sabbia profonda di Lommel, è stata un’ulteriore prova di quanto bene stia guidando su qualsiasi superficie e c’era una vera speranza per un’altra vittoria complessiva da aggiungere alle sue tre già quest’anno.
Sfortunatamente, un brutto salto fuori dal cancello in gara due ha messo da parte ogni pensiero di una vittoria di gara. Lo sloveno, invece, ha dovuto lottare per il campo al primo giro, arrivando alla settima posizione al primo passaggio sul traguardo. Con ogni passaggio sempre più difficile, Gajser è riuscito a salire fino al quarto posto, solo un posto dietro a dove doveva essere per prendere quello che sarebbe stato il suo quarto posto assoluto della stagione. Tuttavia, si è dovuto accontentare del secondo posto assoluto, a un solo punto dal comando, ma sapendo di aver fatto un altro grande passo verso il suo terzo campionato MXGP e il suo quarto titolo mondiale. Con quattro gare rimanenti, il # 243 si trova a 73 punti di vantaggio sul secondo posto, il che significa che ha bisogno di soli 27 punti dalle restanti quattro manche, o se può battere il suo rivale più vicino di due punti nella prima manche del penultimo round di mercoledì Il 4 novembre sarà anche incoronato campione in un’altra straordinaria stagione di prestazioni.

Nel complesso sono abbastanza soddisfatto di come sono andate le cose. La prima gara è stata quasi perfetta, ottenendo l’holeshot e poi facendo un distacco all’inizio. Tony stava spingendo per iniziare, ma sono riuscito ad aumentare il distacco ad ogni giro e ho controllato la gara per vincere. Nella seconda gara ho sbagliato il salto fuori dal cancello e ho avuto un paio di momenti difficili nel primo giro mentre lottavo per il campo. All’inizio ho cercato di prendermela comoda, di non affrettare le cose e di non commettere errori. Alla fine sono tornato al quarto posto che era abbastanza buono per il secondo assoluto. Ho provato di tutto per passare al terzo posto, che sarebbe stato abbastanza buono per il primo ma non sono riuscito a realizzarlo. È stato comunque un buon risultato e mancano ancora quattro manche, quindi rimarrò concentrato e cercherò di fare del mio meglio.

Penso che nella prima manche Tim abbia dimostrato ancora una volta di essere il miglior ragazzo in questo campo. Il distacco era di oltre 30 secondi dal terzo posto e sembrava così tranquillo e confortevole. Purtroppo questo tracciato è molto difficile da superare e dopo una brutta partenza Tim è riuscito solo a risalire al quarto posto in gara due, perdendo solo un’altra vittoria assoluta. Tuttavia, è stata un’altra buona giornata per il campionato con Tim che ha ancora 73 punti davanti al secondo posto, il che significa che ha bisogno di soli 27 punti nelle quattro gare rimanenti per dargli il suo quarto titolo mondiale. Siamo molto contenti della giornata e non vediamo l’ora di correre di nuovo mercoledì.

Second overall brings Gajser to within touching distance of fourth title
Team HRC’s Tim Gajser went second overall at the MXGP of Trentino after one-four moto scores, to bring himself to within 27 points of his fourth world motocross championship title.
The hard-pack Pietramurata track in Italy is the host venue for this final triple-header, and the tight, technical track provided close racing throughout as riders found it difficult to make moves. This didn’t affect Gajser in race one though, as the Honda CRF450RW rider stormed out to another holeshot. He quickly pulled out a couple of seconds on the first lap and didn’t look back from there, controlling the race well and eventually pulling out a lead of almost 10 seconds to second place and over 30 seconds to third. Coming from a dominating display at the deep sand of Lommel, it was further evidence of just how well he is riding on any surface and there was real hope for another overall victory to add to his three already this year.
Unfortunately, a bad jump out of the gate in race two meant any thought of a race win was put to one side. Instead, the Slovenian had to battle through the field on the first lap, eventually getting up to seventh as they crossed the line for the first time. With each pass getting harder and harder, Gajser did manage to get up to fourth place, just one spot behind where he needed to be to take what would have been his fourth overall of the season. However, he had to settle for second overall, just one point from the lead, but knowing that he had taken another big step towards his third MXGP championship and his fourth world title. With four races remaining, the #243 sits 73 points ahead of second place, meaning that he needs just 27 points from the remaining four motos, or if he can beat his nearest rival by two points in the first moto of the penultimate round on Wednesday 4th November, he will also be crowned the champion in another remarkable season of performances.

Overall I am quite happy with how things went. The first race was almost perfect, getting the holeshot and then making a gap at the beginning. Tony was pushing to start with but I managed to increase the gap every lap and controlled the race to take the win. In the second race I messed up the jump out of the gate and had a couple of difficult moments in the first lap as I battled through the field. I tried to take it easy at the beginning, not rush things and not make a mistake. In the end I came back to fourth place which was good enough for second overall. I did try everything to make the pass for third, which would have been good enough for first but I couldn’t quite make it happen. It was still a good result though and there are four motos left to go, so I will keep focused and try do my best.

I think in the first moto, Tim showed once again he is the best guy in this field. The gap was over 30 seconds to third place and he just looked so smooth and comfortable. Unfortunately, this track is very difficult to pass on and after a bad start Tim could only come back to fourth in race two, just missing out on another overall victory. Still, it was another good day for the championship with Tim still 73 points ahead of second place, meaning he needs just 27 points from the four remaining races to give him his fourth world title. We are very happy with the day and can’t wait to race again on Wednesday.
