Coldenhoff sarà svelato come secondo pilota ufficiale Yamaha?
Il vincitore del Gran Premio MXGP 2020 Glenn Coldenhoff ha apparentemente accettato di essere un pilota Monster Energy Yamaha al fianco di Jeremy Seewer per il 2021 poiché gli ultimi movimenti nel paddock sono stati confermati in occasione degli eventi a tripla intestazione a Mantova questa settimana.
Si dice che Coldenhoff, che ha vinto il primo GP a Kegums in Lettonia dopo la pausa di cinque mesi in MXGP causata dalla pandemia Covid-19, ma che ha subito un infortunio alla schiena e alle costole nella gara successiva pochi giorni dopo, sia stato nel radar del marchio giapponese per diversi mesi. La fuga del 29enne dall’equipaggio della GasGas Standing Construct Factory sarà la seconda volta nella sua carriera che lascerà l’equipaggio di Tim Mathys per un contratto di lavoro con un altro produttore. Il #259 ha vinto il suo primo Gran Premio in MX2 nel 2013, poi il team correva con le KTM per unirsi alla Suzuki con cui rimase per due mandati.
Coldenhoff originariamente ha dato a GasGas la sua prima vittoria in una gara del Campionato del Mondo FIM MXGP ed è stato presumibilmente diviso se lasciare il progetto e unirsi allo sforzo ufficiale della Yamaha che ha sede nei Paesi Bassi e controllato dal quartier generale di Amsterdam di Yamaha Motor Europe. Il suo terzo cambio di squadra in quattro anni apre le porte a Pauls Jonass per salire potenzialmente sulla MC 450 F.
Il lettone ha visto la sua sella alla Rockstar Energy IceOne Husqvarna presa dall’arrivo Thomas Kjer Olsen con il 23enne danese invecchiato fuori dalla MX2 per il 2021. Il posto potrebbe essere occupato anche da Gautier Paulin, che, insieme ad Arnaud Tonus, ha potuto vedere la fine del loro mandato in Yamaha se le squadre Monster Energy si ridimensionano da tre a due corridori; La Yamaha deve ancora decidere se tre YZ450FM ufficiali correranno la prossima stagione.

Coldenhoff to be unveiled as second factory Yamaha rider?
2020 MXGP Grand Prix winner Glenn Coldenhoff has apparently agreed to be a Monster Energy Yamaha rider alongside Jeremy Seewer for 2021 as the last movements in the paddock have been confirmed around the triple header events in Mantova this week.
Coldenhoff, who claimed the first GP at Kegums in Latvia after the five-month hiatus in MXGP caused by the Covid-19 pandemic but then suffered a back and rib injury in the following race a few days later, was rumoured to have been on the radar of the Japanese brand for several months. The 29-year old’s breakaway from the GasGas Standing Construct Factory racing crew will be the second time in his career that he has departed Tim Mathys’ crew for another manufacturer’s works deal. #259 won his first Grand Prix in MX2 in 2013 then the team were running KTMs to join Suzuki with whom he stayed for for two terms.
Coldenhoff originally gave GasGas their very first MXGP FIM World Championship race victory and was allegedly torn over whether to leave the project and join Yamaha’s official effort that is based in the Netherlands and controlled from Yamaha Motor Europe’s Amsterdam HQ. His third team change in four years opens the door for Pauls Jonass to potentially step onto the MC 450 F.
The Latvian saw his saddle at Rockstar Energy IceOne Husqvarna taken by the incoming Thomas Kjer Olsen with the 23-year old Dane aging out of MX2 for 2021. The spot could also be occupied by Gautier Paulin, who, along with Arnaud Tonus, could see an end to their Yamaha tenure if the Monster Energy squads downsizes from three to two racers; Yamaha have yet to decide if three official YZ450FMs will run next season.
