La MXGP di Città di Faenza si è rivelata una giornata mista per GASGAS Factory Racing con Glenn Coldenhoff che ha nuovamente ottenuto i migliori risultati, offrendo ottime prestazioni 6-5 che hanno portato il pilota di Standing Construct al sesto posto assoluto. Il compagno di squadra Ivo Monticelli è stato costretto al ritiro a causa di un problema di stomaco in corso la scorsa settimana.
Glenn Coldenhoff ha messo insieme una solida moto di apertura all’MXGP di Città di Faenza, settimo round del campionato FIM Motocross. Con il caos che seguiva nella prima curva e nel successivo giro di apertura, l’olandese è stato inizialmente trascinato all’indietro al di fuori dei primi 10. Mentre la gara si svolgeva, si è fatto strada in avanti ed è arrivato poco prima di un posto tra i primi cinque, tagliando il traguardo in sesto a prepararsi per una seconda manche forte. Gara due ha visto Coldenhoff schierarsi più vicino all’interno sul cancelletto di partenza, pronto a evitare ogni possibile carneficina a inizio gara. Il piano del corridore di Standing Construct ha funzionato poiché è emerso bene all’interno della top 10 prima di sbarazzarsi rapidamente di Clement Desalle e Romain Febvre nella stessa curva. Arrivato quinto e con gli occhi puntati sul quarto, con una linea veloce che si formava intorno alla pista, Glenn non è stato in grado di migliorare ulteriormente e ha portato la sua MC 450F a casa in un ottimo quinto posto.
Nonostante abbia fatto tutto ciò che è in suo potere per superare un mal di stomaco, Ivo Monticelli è stato costretto a ritirarsi dal settimo round.
Glenn Coldenhoff: “Sono contento della mia guida nonostante il risultato finale non lo mostri necessariamente. Oggi domenica è stato un miglioramento, quindi sono contento di questo. Lo scorso fine settimana non ero abbastanza sul passo ma oggi lo ero, in qualifica e in gara. Gara uno è stata pazza durante i primi giri, quindi per la seconda gara mi sono spostato all’interno per evitarlo. C’era ancora molto da battere e sono riuscito a staccarmi al quinto posto. Il distacco dal quarto posto non era così grande, ma abbiamo tutti un ritmo simile davanti, quindi è stato difficile recuperare e sorpassare. Non vedo l’ora che arrivi domenica, dove sono sicuro di poter sfidare per ottenere risultati migliori “.
Qui il commento di Ivo per il GP Italia del 6/9/2020 dove accusava già problemi allo stomaco.
Ivo Monticelli: “Oggi (6/9/2020) è stato un vero peccato e non il GP di casa che mi aspettavo! Mi sono allenato molto prima di questa gara e pochi giorni fa ho sviluppato un problema di stomaco, che mi ha davvero svuotato di energie. Sono stato in grado di fare un holeshot e condurre il giro di apertura della prima gara – quello è stato il momento clou della giornata per me. Da lì dovevo solo guidare un ritmo costante per garantire un arrivo. Lo stesso vale per la seconda gara. Sono andato 19-17, che mi ha fatto guadagnare alcuni punti. Sono deluso per il team Standing Construct GASGAS e per me stesso e spero di sentirmi meglio per mercoledì “.
Il team Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing sarà il prossimo 16 settembre nel Campionato del Mondo FIM Motocross per il terzo round di un trio che si terrà presso la sede di Faenza.

TOUGH MXGP OF CITTA DI FAENZA FOR GASGAS FACTORY RACING
The MXGP of Citta di Faenza proved to be a mixed day for GASGAS Factory Racing with Glenn Coldenhoff once again claiming the best results, delivering strong 6-5 performances that put the Standing Construct rider sixth overall. Teammate Ivo Monticelli was forced to withdraw due to an ongoing stomach issue picked up last week, while DIGA Procross Factory Juniors Simon Langenfelder charged to his best ever qualifying performance in ninth before being landed on and suffering from an injured lower leg in the opening MX2 moto.

Glenn Coldenhoff put together a solid opening moto at the MXGP of Citta di Faenza, round seven of the FIM Motocross Championship. As chaos ensued in the first turn and subsequent opening lap, the Dutchman was initially shuffled backwards outside of the top 10. As the race unfolded, he charged his way forwards and came up just short of a top-five placing, crossing the line in sixth to set himself up for a strong second moto.
Race two saw Coldenhoff line up closer to the inside on the start gate, in readiness to avoid any possible early-race carnage. The Standing Construct rider’s plan worked as he emerged well inside the top 10 before quickly disposing of Clement Desalle and Romain Febvre in the same turn. Into fifth and with his sights set on fourth, with one fast line forming around the track, Glenn was unable to improve further and brought his MC 450F home in a strong fifth place.
Despite doing everything in his power to overcome a stomach illness, Ivo Monticelli was forced to withdraw from round seven.
Simon Langenfelder continues to experience the highs and lows of the MX2 World Championship. The young German earned a career-best qualifying time in ninth, placing ahead of many experienced racers and GP winners. With his MC 250F powering Langenfelder to another top-five start in race one, his day quickly came to a premature end when he was landed on by a rival just two corners into the moto, injuring his lower leg.
In the EMX125 class, Guillem Farres climbed onto the podium for the second round in a row, claiming the third step following a pair of strong rides. David Braceras continued his own consistent run of form with fifth overall while Gerard Congost ended the day 13th.
Glenn Coldenhoff: “I’m happy with my riding despite the end result not necessarily showing it. Today was an improvement on Sunday so I’m happy with this. Last weekend I wasn’t quite on the pace but today I was, in qualifying and in the races. Race one was crazy during the opening laps so for the second race I moved closed to the inside to avoid this. There was still a lot of bar banging and I managed to break away in fifth place. The gap to fourth wasn’t so big but we are all running a similar pace at the front, so it was hard to catch and make a pass. I’m looking forward to Sunday where I’m sure I can challenge for better results.”
The Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing team will next be in FIM Motocross World Championship action on September 16 for the third round of a trio to be held at the Faenza venue.
