FAENZA (Italia) 6 settembre 2020 – Con le gare concluse si è concluso anche il sesto round del Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross. L’ MXGP d’Italia è stato il primo dei tre eventi che si sono svolti sul circuito di Monte Coralli a Faenza che hanno visto Jeffrey Herlings della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing vincere il suo 90 ° Gran Premio in MXGP, mentre Maxime Renaux della Yamaha SM Action MC Migliori – J1 Racing ha ottenuto la prima vittoria assoluta in carriera nella MX2.
FAENZA (Italy) 6 September 2020 – With the racing completed this also concluded round six of the FIM Motocross World Championship. The MXGP of Italy was the first of three events taking place at the Monte Coralli circuit in Faenza that saw Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings take his 90th Grand Prix win in MXGP, while Maxime Renaux of Yamaha SM Action M.C Migliori – J1 Racing took a career first overall win in MX2.
Jeffrey Herlings: “Nella prima gara ho quasi ottenuto l’holeshot, sono andato solo un po ‘largo ma [Jorge] Prado è stato davvero bravo all’inizio e il terreno mi faceva male, quindi è stato difficile sorpassarlo perché stava guidando le linee migliori. Mi sentivo come se potessi andare più veloce ma non potevo davvero passare. Entrambe le gare, quando ho potuto sentire che era stanco, è stato il punto in cui ho cercato di superarlo in entrambe le gare e aprire un piccolo divario tra me e Jeremy. Nella seconda gara l’ho superato, il resto del gruppo come Jeremy era abbastanza veloce quindi ho dovuto correre fino al traguardo. La velocità dei primi dieci è incredibilmente veloce, tutti sono così vicini gli uni agli altri, mi sono sentito bene tutto il giorno, ho avuto due buone partenze e due vittorie, quindi è stata una buona giornata alla fine … Le partenze sono fondamentali e terrò lavorando su di loro ”.
Jeremy Seewer: “Nella prima gara ho sbagliato la partenza da solo perché sono andato un po ‘troppo presto, ero intorno al 10 ° posto. Mi sentivo davvero bene e fortunatamente ho potuto riprendermi e raggiungere il gruppo di testa e finire secondo dietro a Jeffrey. Mi sentivo bene, ho usato un bel po ‘di energia mentre spingevo per tutta la gara e non avevo tempo per riposarmi dato che dovevo superare i piloti per tutta la gara, quindi ero felice di avere una buona partenza nella seconda essendo quarto e subito dopo Tony [Cairoli] e ha corso tutta la gara dietro a Jeffrey, ma come ha detto è molto difficile passare, quindi non sono riuscito a trovare un posto, non ha commesso errori e sono dovuto arrivare secondo. Sono super contento della mia prestazione, la mia moto è stata fantastica. Per me mentalmente non è il momento più facile ma sono felice di essere secondo ”.
Antonio Cairoli: “La giornata è iniziata male questa mattina con le prove cronometrate, non mi sentivo affatto bene con il ginocchio… Nella prima gara la mia partenza non è stata così male ma [Ivo] Monticelli è andato davvero largo in curva e noi mi sono quasi toccato insieme quindi ho dovuto frenare e sono uscito intorno all’8 ° posto. Ho provato a riunirmi con Jorge [Prado] e Jeffrey [Herlings]. Il ritmo era veloce, ma sono riuscito ad avvicinarmi, quindi ho cercato di fare una buona rimonta, ma Jeremy [Seewer] era molto veloce in entrambe le gare e mi ha superato. Nella seconda gara ho fatto una buona partenza e nel primo giro ero quarto anche se ho commesso un errore, quindi ho cercato di rimontare il gruppo e di essere sicuro. Ho trovato un buon ritmo e ho provato ad attaccare negli ultimi giri, ma ancora una volta ho avuto poco tempo. Ma sono contento perché questa pista è dura e non è una delle mie preferite e con altre due gare qui spero di poter migliorare.
Romain Febvre: (4 °) “Oggi ci sono molti punti positivi a parte il mio errore nella prima gara quando sono caduto due volte perché il mio freno anteriore era bloccato nella prima caduta. Ho perso dodici secondi in quell’incidente e poi sono tornato dal tredicesimo al sesto; è stata una bella gara ed era impossibile ottenere di più. La seconda gara è andata bene. La mia partenza non è stata altrettanto buona ma ho dato tutto e sono stato l’uomo più veloce in pista; con una partenza migliore e senza il mio errore oggi non è stato possibile fare molto, ma ho sbagliato e ho perso il podio con il quarto posto assoluto “.
Tim Gajser: (6 °) All’inizio mi sentivo bene, la pista sembrava davvero buona nelle prove cronometrate e anche durante le gare hanno tenuto la pista in buona forma. È solo che era davvero difficile passare in pista e la partenza è stata la chiave. La partenza è stata davvero importante e oggi non ho avuto due buone partenze. Ero di nuovo nel gruppo, dovevo lavorare e ho anche fatto due cadute nella prima gara, quindi non sono contento. Sono rimasto davvero deluso. La seconda gara è andata meglio, il ritmo era lì, pochi secondi dal primo al quinto ma non sono riuscito a fare i movimenti che dovevo. È così, però, e abbiamo ancora due round da fare qui a Faenza, quindi cercherò di togliermi dalla testa questa giornata e di concentrarmi per il resto del campionato. So che la squadra mi aiuterà in questo, poiché mi aiutano continuamente con tutti i preparativi, quindi la testa è a mercoledì!
Glenn Coldenhoff: (7 °) “Non proprio il giorno che stavo cercando. Mi sentivo benissimo in prova e in qualifica, ed ero settimo, quindi questo è stato un bene. Siamo tutti abbastanza simili nel ritmo, quindi il settimo posto va bene. La mia partenza non è stata ottima in gara uno, solo il mio tempo di reazione è stato un po ‘lento, il che è stato un peccato. La partenza su questa pista è così importante, quindi è stata una gara dura fino alla fine. La mia partenza in gara due non è stata molto migliore, purtroppo, ma sono tornato ottavo. Andremo via da qui, guarderemo le gare per analizzare cosa sto facendo e poi le prove inizieranno prima di mercoledì “.
Arminas Jasikonis: (10 °) “È stata una giornata difficile per me dopo il successo che abbiamo avuto in Lettonia. È una pista davvero dura e veloce qui a Faenza e tutti guidano ad un ritmo simile. Ho fatto un bel salto nella gara di apertura, ma poi sono stato spinto largo nell’apertura iniziale e ho perso molte posizioni. Sono riuscito a passare al decimo posto, il che era ok. Nella seconda gara ho avuto un inizio leggermente migliore ma sono riuscito a raggiungere solo il nono posto. Di sicuro non dove io o la mia squadra ci aspettiamo che sia, ma mercoledì ci riorganizzeremo e ci schiereremo di nuovo “.

Jeffrey Herlings: “In the first race I almost got the holeshot, I just went a bit wide but [Jorge] Prado was really good in the beginning and the roost hurt so it was hard to overtake him as he was riding the best lines. I felt like I could go faster but I couldn’t really pass. Both races when I could sense that he was tired that’s the point where I tried to overtake him in both races and open a small gap between me and Jeremy. In the second race I overtook him, the rest of the pack like Jeremy were pretty quick so I had to race to the finish line. The speed of the top ten is unbelievably fast, everybody is so close to each other, I felt good all day, I had two good starts, and two race wins so was a good day in the end…Starts are key and I will keep working on them”.
Jeremy Seewer: “In the first race I messed up my start by myself as I went a little bit too early, I was around 10th place. I felt really good and luckily could recover from that and catch up to the front group and finish second behind Jeffrey. I felt good, I used quite a bit of energy as I pushed the whole race and had no time to rest as I had to pass riders throughout the race so I was happy to get a good start in the second one being fourth and straight past Tony [Cairoli] and ride the whole race behind Jeffrey but as he mentioned it’s super hard to pass so I couldn’t really find a spot, he didn’t make any mistakes and I just had to go for second. I’m super happy with my performance, my bike felt great. For me mentally it’s not the easiest time but I’m happy to be second”.
Antonio Cairoli: “The day started bad this morning with time practice, I didn’t feel good at all with my knee… In the first race, my start was not so bad but [Ivo] Monticelli went really wide on the corner and we almost touched together so I had to brake and came out around 8th place. I tried to re-group with Jorge [Prado] and Jeffrey [Herlings]. The pace was fast, but I was able to come closer, so I tried to make a good come back, but Jeremy [Seewer] was riding really fast in both races and passed me. In the second race I had a good start and was riding fourth in the first lap though I made a mistake, so I tried to re-group again and to be safe. I found a good rhythm and tried to attack in the last laps but again I was short on time. But I am happy because this track is tough and not one of my favourites and with two more races here I hope I can improve.
Romain Febvre: (4th) “There’s a lot of positive points today apart from my mistake in the first race when I crashed twice as my front brake was blocked in the first crash. I lost twelve seconds in that incident and then came back from thirteenth to sixth; it was a good race and it was impossible to achieve more. The second race was OK. My start wasn’t as good but I gave everything and was the fastest man on track; with a better start and without my mistake a lot was possible today, but I made mistakes and just missed the podium with fourth overall.”
Tim Gajser: (6th) I was feeling okay at the beginning, the track looked really good in timed practice and even during the races they kept the track in good shape. It’s just that it was really difficult to pass on the track and the start was the key. The start was really important and today I didn’t get two good starts. I was back in the pack, having to work my way through and I even made two crashes in the first race so that didn’t help. I was really disappointed. The second race was better, the pace was there, just a few seconds from first to fifth but I just couldn’t make the moves I needed to. That’s how it is though, and we still have two more rounds to go here in Faenza, so I will try to put this day out of my mind and focus ahead for the rest of the championship. I know the team will help with this, as they continually help me with all the preparations, so bring on Wednesday!
Glenn Coldenhoff: (7th) “Not quite the day that I was looking for. I felt great in practice and qualifying, and I was seventh fastest so this was good. We are all quite similar in in pace so seventh is ok. My start wasn’t great in race one, just my reaction time was just a little slow, which was unfortunate. The start on this track is so important so it was a tough race all the way to the end. My start in race two wasn’t much better unfortunately but I came back to eighth. We’ll go away from here, watch the races to analyze what I’m doing and then practice starts ahead of Wednesday.”
Arminas Jasikonis: (10th) “It was a difficult day for me after the success that we had in Latvia. It’s a really hard and fast track here at Faenza and everyone is riding at a similar pace. I had a great jump in the opening race, but then I was pushed wide in the opening corner and lost a lot of positions. I managed to pull through to 10th which was ok. The second race I has a slightly better start but could only reach ninth place. For sure not where my team or myself expect me to be but we’ll regroup and line up again on Wednesday.”

Maxime Renaux: “È stato incredibile, uno dei migliori giorni della mia vita di sicuro. Ho fatto una buona partenza nella seconda gara e poi sono riuscito a guidare l’intera gara. E ‘stata davvero dura, fa caldo qui quindi fisicamente è stata abbastanza dura ma ci sono riuscito e sono davvero contento di questo e andiamo avanti con quel ritmo ”.
Jago Geerts: “Oggi è stata una buona giornata, nella prima gara che ho vinto, quindi ero davvero contento e la mia guida è stata buona. Nella seconda gara ho ottenuto l’holeshot ma poi alla prima curva ho commesso un piccolo errore e sono andato secondo e poi terzo. Dopo di che ho guidato un buon ritmo e stavo provando a fare dei sorpassi, ma è stato davvero difficile, quindi ho portato a casa il terzo posto e sono contento del secondo assoluto. Non vedo l’ora che arrivino le prossime due gare qui ”.
Tom Vialle: “All’inizio della gara 2 non ero molto bravo e Maxime [Renaux] ha fatto un piccolo distacco ma sono riuscito a trovare il mio ritmo e prenderlo e sì negli ultimi tre giri ho cercato di spingere per il passaggio ma Maxime non ha commesso errori e stava andando davvero bene, quindi ora arrivo terzo assoluto quindi non è poi così male ”.

Maxime Renaux: “That was incredible, one of the best days of my life for sure. I got a good start in the second race and then managed to lead the whole race. It was really tough, it’s hot here so physically it was quite hard but managed to do it and I’m really happy with that and let’s carry on with that pace”.
Jago Geerts: “It was a good day today, in the first race I won so I was really happy with that and my riding was good. The second race I got the holeshot but then in the first corner I made a little mistake and went to second and then third. After that I just rode a good pace and I was trying to make some passes but it was really difficult, so I just took home the third place and I’m happy with second overall. I’m looking forward to the next two races here”.
Tom Vialle: “At the beginning of the race [2] I was not that good and Maxime [Renaux] made a little gap but I was able to find my rhythm and catch him and yes in the last three laps I tried to push for the pass but Maxime didn’t make any mistakes and was riding really good so now I finish third overall so it’s not so bad”.
