Kyle Webster to fill in for Benoit Paturel at JM Honda Racing

Kyle Webster sostituirà Benoit Paturel al JM Honda Racing
 

L’australiano Kyle Webster (24) sostituirà Benoit Paturel di JM Honda Racing a partire dal MXGP della Lombardia il 27 settembre. Paturel ha subito una frattura al coccige e un infortunio alla schiena durante l’ultimo round MXGP a Kegums il mese scorso.

Webster, il secondo classificato MX2 MX Nationals 2019, si è fatto un nome come uno dei piloti più entusiasmanti sulla scena del motocross australiano. L’australiano occidentale è nato in Sud Africa ma ha vissuto anche nel Regno Unito da bambino.

Kyle ha rappresentato il suo paese al MX of Nations dello scorso anno in Olanda e ha sorpreso molti con la sua velocità in condizioni difficili. L’australiano montato sulla CRF ha registrato un ottimo terzo nella gara di qualificazione MX2 dopo essere rimasto secondo per la maggior parte della manche. Nonostante Webster sia stato sfortunato domenica, è andato a finire 6° assoluto nella classe MX2, a pari punti con Jago Geerts.

Kyle Webster: “Sono super entusiasta di correre nel Campionato del Mondo MXGP con JM Honda Racing. Tutto è successo abbastanza rapidamente, ma non vedo l’ora di questa opportunità. (sorride) Speriamo che la terza volta sia la buona dopo aver corso nel fango in Indonesia nel 2017 e l’anno scorso ad Assen! Vorrei ringraziare il mio team Penrite Honda Racing per avermi concesso la possibilità di andare in Europa e farlo “.

Jacky Martens, manager del team JM Honda Racing: “Benoit è stato molto sfortunato a cadere a Kegums; d’altra parte siamo grati che le sue ferite non siano state troppo gravi. Sfortunatamente dovrà restare lontano dalla moto dalle sei alle sette settimane. Sono felice di poter offrire a Kyle questa opportunità di correre sul palcoscenico mondiale. Ha già dimostrato in casa e nel MX delle Nazioni quello di cui è capace. Gli ultimi mesi sono stati davvero difficili per noi con il ritiro di Julien Lieber seguito dall’infortunio di Paturel, ma siamo molto grati per il supporto di Penrite Honda Racing e Honda in questa faccenda “.

Kyle Webster to fill in for Benoit Paturel at JM Honda Racing
 

Australian Kyle Webster (24) will stand in for JM Honda Racing’s Benoit Paturel starting with the MXGP of Lombardia on September 27. Paturel sustained a broken tailbone and back injury during the final MXGP round in Kegums last month.

Webster, the 2019 MX Nationals MX2 runner up, has made a name for himself as one of the most exciting riders on the Australian motocross scene. The Western Australian was born in South Africa but also lived in the UK as a kid.

Kyle represented his country at last year’s MX of Nations in Holland and surprised many with his speed in difficult conditions. The CRF mounted Australian recorded a strong third in the MX2 qualifying race after circulating in second for most of the moto. Although Webster was unlucky on Sunday he went on to finish 6th overall in the MX2 class, equal on points with Jago Geerts.

Kyle Webster: “I’m super stoked to go racing in the MXGP World Championship with JM Honda Racing. Everything happened pretty quickly but I’m really looking forward to this opportunity. (smiles) Let’s hope that third time is the charm after racing in the mud in Indonesia in 2017 and last year in Assen! I’d like to thank my team Penrite Honda Racing for granting me the chance to go over to Europe and do this.”

Jacky Martens, JM Honda Racing team manager: “On the hand Benoit was very unlucky to crash in Kegums; on the other hand we’re grateful that his injuries were not too bad. Unfortunately he’ll have to stay from the bike for six to seven weeks. I’m happy we can offer Kyle this opportunity to race on the world stage. He’s already proven at home and in the MX of Nations what he’s capable of. The last few months have been really difficult for us with Julien Lieber’s retirement followed by the injury of Paturel but we’re very grateful for the support of Penrite Honda Racing and Honda in this matter.”
