Coldenhoff nel collegamento Monster Energy Yamaha per il 2021
Glenn Coldenhoff potrebbe aver vissuto fortune contrastanti attraverso il triplo colpo di testa lettone della MXGP, ma l’olandese rimane al centro delle voci considerando la sua squadra e il contratto per il 2021.
Nel paddock del circuito di Kegums si è ripetuto che il 29enne fosse in fila per collaborare con Jeremy Seewer al setup di Monster Energy Yamaha e occupare una delle YZ450FM lasciate da Gautier Paulin o Arnaud Tonus. Se il doppio vincitore della gara di Motocross delle Nazioni dovesse lasciare il nuovo equipaggio di GasGas Standing Construct (dopo aver consegnato il primo successo in assoluto del marchio con la vittoria nel primo GP lettone), allora si spezzerebbe un’unione di cinque anni con il reparto corse austriaco di KTM , così come il suo accordo personale con la Red Bull.
Sembra una mossa inverosimile, considerando l’unione produttiva di Coldenhoff con il team di Standing Construct di Tim Mathys e l’atmosfera positiva del lavoro. “Anch’io ho sentito le voci! Non ne sono proprio sicuro … ma ovviamente il mio contratto scade quest’anno “, fu tutto ciò che riuscì a dire in merito.
Se Coldenhoff dovesse cambiare, la sua posizione nel team GasGasfactory potrebbe essere occupata dall’ex campione del mondo MX2 Pauls Jonass. Il lettone rischia di saltare il resto della sua seconda stagione nella classe regina con un infortunio alla schiena e alle costole, ma aveva impressionato con tre podi nel 2019 e il suo mandato da rookie. Il posto di Jonass nel team Rockstar Energy IceOne Husqvarna sembra che verrà preso dall’attuale pilota della MX2 Thomas Kjer Olsen, che quest’anno ha escluso la categoria.

Glenn Coldenhoff may have experienced contrasting fortunes through the Latvian MXGP triple-header but the Dutchman remains at the centre of rumours considering his team and contract for 2021.
In the paddock at the Kegums circuit there was repeated talk of the 29-year old being lined up to partner Jeremy Seewer at the Monster Energy Yamaha works set-up and occupy one of the YZ450FMs left by either Gautier Paulin or Arnaud Tonus. If the double Motocross of Nations race winner were to leave the new-found GasGas Standing Construct crew (after delivering the brand’s first ever Grand Prix success with victory in the Latvian opener) then it would break a five-year union with KTM’s Austrian race department, as well as his personal deal with Red Bull.
It seems a far-fetched move, considering Coldenhoff’sproductive union with Tim Mathys’ Standing Construct team and the positive working vibe. “I heard the rumours too! I’m not really sure about that…but of course my contract is up this year,” was all he could say on the matter.
If Coldenhoff does change, then his position at the GasGasfactory team could be filled by former MX2 world champion Pauls Jonass. The Latvian is likely to miss the rest of his second season in the premier class with a back and rib injury but had impressed with three podiums during 2019 and his rookie term. Jonass’ spot in the Rockstar Energy IceOne Husqvarna team looks as though it will be taken by current MX2 racer Thomas Kjer Olsen, who ages-out of the category this year.
