MX Sports Pro Racing annuncia l’annullamento del Washougal National, il secondo round sarà al Ranch di Loretta Lynn
La data del round 2 pianificata rimane invariata per il 22 agosto
Con poche ore prima dell’inizio del Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanzionato da AMA Pro Racing, gli organizzatori della serie MX Sports Pro Racing hanno annunciato la cancellazione del MotoSport.com Washougal National, presentato da Peterson CAT, originariamente previsto per servire come secondo round della stagione 2020 modificata. A seguito di un incontro tra il Race Leadership Team (RLT) ei partner OEM della serie, è stata presa la decisione collettiva di spostare la sede del Round 2, sabato 22 agosto, al Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, il sito dell’evento di apertura della stagione di questo fine settimana .
Il Washougal National era stato precedentemente approvato per il 2020 sia a livello locale che statale a Washington, sulla base del Piano per la salute e la sicurezza COVID-19 che era stato presentato dagli organizzatori diversi mesi fa alle agenzie di regolamentazione necessarie. La continua approvazione dell’evento era stata ribadita dalla contea di Clark, all’interno della quale si trova il Washougal MX Park, non più di questa mattina, il 14 agosto. Tuttavia, sulla base delle restrizioni recentemente imposte nello stato di Washington in relazione alle infezioni da COVID-19, l’RLT, in consultazione con i partner OEM dello sport, ha deciso collettivamente che, nel migliore interesse dei partecipanti alla serie, l’evento verrà annullato.
“La decisione del Race Leadership Team e dei nostri partner OEM di annullare il Washougal National è sia inaspettata che deludente”, ha dichiarato Roy Janson, Direttore della competizione di MX Sports Pro Racing in una dichiarazione. “Il piano globale per la salute e la sicurezza, preparato specificamente per affrontare le questioni del COVID-19 e i relativi sforzi di prevenzione e mitigazione, presentato e approvato sia a livello locale che statale, ha fornito ampie direttive progettate per affrontare ogni preoccupazione sollevata da questi funzionari. Il piano per la salute e la sicurezza, che si basa sulle politiche statali attualmente in vigore su ordine del governatore, è pienamente conforme a tutte le linee guida del dipartimento sanitario del CDC, dello stato e della contea e prevede lo screening pre-ammissione di tutti gli atleti professionisti e del loro equipaggio membri, compreso il test della temperatura senza contatto prima di poter accedere alla sede.
“Ryan Huffman, l’organizzatore dell’evento del Washougal National, ha fatto tutto quanto in suo potere per organizzare un evento sicuro sia per i concorrenti professionisti che per i dilettanti”, ha aggiunto Janson. “Lo lodiamo per i grandi sforzi e sacrifici compiuti per rendere realtà il Washougal National 2020. Sfortunatamente, come siamo diventati sempre più consapevoli, le circostanze che circondano la diffusione di COVID-19 possono cambiare drasticamente nel giro di poche ore. Non abbiamo preso questa decisione alla leggera e le circostanze sono completamente fuori dal controllo di Ryan. Non vediamo l’ora di riportare il campionato di motocross Lucas Oil Pro a Washougal per la stagione 2021. Nel frattempo, per comodità dei nostri team e dei nostri concorrenti, la decisione logica è stata quella di tornare al Ranch di Loretta Lynn entro una settimana. ”
I biglietti per il secondo round al Loretta Lynn’s Ranch saranno in vendita domani e rimarranno limitati a 5.000 spettatori. Sarà un evento di un giorno solo con gare professionistiche, senza competizione di supporto amatoriale.

MX Sports Pro Racing Announces Cancelation of Washougal National, Will Host Second Round at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch
Scheduled Round 2 Date Remains Unchanged for August 22
With hours before the start of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, series organizers MX Sports Pro Racing have announced the cancelation of the MotoSport.com Washougal National, presented by Peterson CAT, originally scheduled to serve as the second round of the amended 2020 season. Following a meeting between the Race Leadership Team (RLT) and the series’ OEM partners a collective decision was made to move the location of Round 2, on Saturday, August 22, to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, the site of this weekend’s season-opening event.
The Washougal National had been previously approved for 2020 at both the local and state level in Washington, based on the COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan that had been submitted by the organizers several months ago to the necessary regulatory agencies. Continuing approval of the event had been reiterated from Clark County, within which Washougal MX Park is located, as recently as this morning, August 14. However, based on newly imposed restrictions within the state of Washington as it relates to COVID-19 infections, the RLT, in consultation with the sport’s OEM partners, have collectively decided that in the best interest of series participants, the event will be canceled.
“The decision by the Race Leadership Team and our OEM partners to cancel the Washougal National is both unexpected and disappointing,” said Roy Janson, Director of Competition at MX Sports Pro Racing in a statement. “The comprehensive Health and Safety Plan, prepared specifically to address COVID-19 issues and related prevention and mitigation efforts, submitted and approved both at the local and state level, provided extensive directives designed to address every concern raised by these officials. The Health and Safety Plan, which is based on state policies currently in place under orders by the governor, is fully compliant with all CDC, state, and county health department guidelines, and provided for pre-admission screening of all pro athletes and their crew members, including non-contact temperature testing prior to being allowed to access the venue.
“Ryan Huffman, the event organizer of the Washougal National, did everything within his power to organize a safe event for both professional and amateur competitors,” added Janson. “We commend him for the extensive efforts and sacrifices made to make the 2020 Washougal National a reality. Unfortunately, as we have become increasingly aware, circumstances surrounding the spread of COVID-19 can change dramatically in a matter of hours. We did not reach this decision lightly and the circumstances are entirely out of Ryan’s control. We look forward to bringing the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship back to Washougal for the 2021 season. In the meantime, out of convenience to our teams and competitors, the logical decision was to return to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in one week’s time.”
Tickets for Round 2 at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch will go on sale tomorrow and will remain limited to 5,000 spectators. It will be a single-day event featuring professional racing only, with no amateur support competition.
