Rene Hofer injury update: The recovery path after left shoulder surgery
Aggiornamento sugli infortuni di Rene Hofer: il percorso di recupero dopo l’intervento alla spalla sinistra
Rene Hofer della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing ha iniziato le prime fasi di recupero da una frattura alla spalla sinistra subita in un secondo incidente in gara nel recente Gran Premio di Riga in Lettonia. Il diciottenne pilota della MX2 è stato operato in Austria e ora intraprenderà un recupero di due-tre mesi.
Hofer, che ha già brillato con la velocità dei primi cinque Gran Premi nella sua prima stagione completa con la KTM 250 SX-F ufficiale nella classe MX2, mercoledì scorso è caduto a metà della seconda gara sul circuito di Kegums per quello che era il quarto round del campionato del mondo FIM 2020. È stato portato al centro medico dove è stata diagnosticata una frattura all’articolazione della spalla sinistra tramite radiografia e scansioni. Hofer è quindi volato direttamente a casa per un’operazione riparativa per inserire una placca e otto viti presso l’ospedale di Wels e con una procedura eseguita con successo dal dott. Lang.
Il giovane austriaco farà monitorare l’infortunio mentre si propone di rimarginarsi e tornare presto in sella.
Rene Hofer: “Ho preso un calcio nel salto e sono volato, quindi ho dovuto liberarmi della moto in aria e ho sentito un grande impatto quando sono atterrato. Una volta che abbiamo saputo che la spalla era rotta, siamo stati trasferiti in Austria. C’era molto dolore e poco sonno, quindi sono davvero contento che ora sia stato risolto. Un grande ringraziamento al dottor Lang per il suo lavoro e anche per aver organizzato l’operazione così velocemente. Questo fa veramente male in due modi: l’infortunio ovviamente ma anche perché la stagione era appena ricominciata e questo è un grosso contrattempo. Sono davvero dispiaciuto per la squadra e farò del mio meglio per tornare il prima possibile “.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Rene Hofer has begun the first phases of recovery from a broken left shoulder sustained in a second race crash at the recent Grand Prix of Riga in Latvia. The eighteen-year old MX2 racer underwent surgery in Austria and will now embark on a two-three month recovery.
Hofer, who has already shone with top-five Grand Prix speed in his first full season with the factory KTM 250 SX-F in the MX2 class, crashed midway through the second race at the Kegums circuit last Wednesday for what was the fourth round of the 2020 FIM world championship. He was taken to the Medical Centre where a fractured left shoulder joint was diagnosed through x-ray and scans. Hofer then flew home directly for a reparatory operation to insert a plate and eight screws at the hospital in Wels and with a procedure successfully carried out by Dr Lang.
The young Austrian will have the injury monitored as he bids to heal and soon return to the saddle.
Rene Hofer: “I got a kick into the jump and went flying, so I had to get rid of the bike in the air and felt a big impact when I landed. Once we knew the shoulder was broken we got transferred back to Austria. There was a lot of pain and not much sleep so I’m really glad it is fixed now. A big thanks to Dr Lang for his work and also for arranging the operation so fast. This really hurts in two ways: the injury of course but also because the season was just starting again and this is a big setback. I’m really sorry for the team and I’ll do my best to be back as soon as possible.”
