GASGAS Factory Racing ha ottenuto tre risultati da top 10 nella seconda fase del Campionato mondiale FIM Motocross, la MXGP dei Paesi Bassi sull’iconico circuito di Valkenswaard. Correndo nella classe MXGP per Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing, Glenn Coldenhoff ha superato gli incidenti del primo giro in entrambe le gare per terminare il GP con 7-9 risultati, guadagnando il settimo posto assoluto.
Glenn Coldenhoff ha fatto un’ottima partenza nella gara di apertura della MXGP, arrivando fino al sesto posto, prima di intrappolarsi con un altro pilota nel giro di apertura. L’olandese ha rimontato e combattuto nel campo MXGP per sfondare nella top-10 all’11° giro della gara dei 17 giri. Al penultimo giro, Glenn è passato in nona posizione dove è rimasto fino al traguardo.
Un incidente alla prima curva in gara due ha visto Coldenhoff intrappolato nella moto di Clement Desalle, provocando un escoriazione alla gamba. Ciononostante, e una successiva caduta aggiuntiva, Coldenhoff ha rimontato e ha chiuso il giro d’apertura al 32° posto prima di iniziare una carica lunga in gara. Effettuando sorpassi è passato al settimo posto per guadagnare anche il settimo posto assoluto nella classe MXGP. Glenn ora sale al sesto posto nella classifica della serie MXGP in vista del terzo round in Argentina tra due settimane.
Ivo Monticelli ha registrato un forte primo piazzamento nella MXGP in Valkenswaard. Eseguendo il tredicesimo posto all’inizio della gara, è tornato dal sedicesimo al quinto giro, prima di mettersi a seguito del compagno di squadra Coldenhoff, che era proprio in carica attraverso il campo. Correndo al 14° posto nella fase intermedia della gara, l’italiano ha concluso la moto al 15° posto. Un ottimo inizio nella seconda gara ha visto il pilota montato sull’MC 450F correre al sesto posto all’inizio della moto prima che un grosso incidente mandò in terra l’italiano cadendo sulla sua spalla, che ha portato a una conclusione anticipata della sua gara.
Sia Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing che DIGA Procross GASGAS Factory Juniors entreranno in azione al terzo round del Campionato mondiale FIM Motocross il 22 marzo, al MXGP della Patagonia Argentina.
Glenn Coldenhoff: “Sicuramente non i risultati che volevo perché ero fiducioso di avere la velocità e la forma fisica per salire sul podio, ma le cose non sono andate proprio come avevo bisogno. Tutti sanno che amo la sabbia, e soprattutto quando è profonda ed esigente come questo fine settimana. Per salire sul podio devi essere in testa durante i primi giri è frustrante che sia successo a me. Le cose sono iniziate bene nella prima manche e ho iniziato bene. Ma intorno al primo giro mi sono ritrovato con un altro pilota e questo mi ha fatto finire ultimo, quindi avevo molto lavoro da fare. Sono tornato al nono posto, ma ovviamente volevo un risultato migliore di quello. La seconda gara è andata male alla prima curva. Mi sono schiantato con Clement Desalle e ho messo entrambe le gambe tra la ruota posteriore e lo scarico e mi sono bruciato la gamba. Ho riiniziato, ma sono caduto di nuovo al primo giro e, sì, non quello che speravamo. È sempre difficile quando non ottieni il risultato che sai di poter ottenere, soprattutto quando ti godi la pista e le condizioni. Ma continueremo a lavorare e non vediamo l’ora che arrivi l’Argentina “.
Ivo Monticelli: “Questo è stato un fine settimana migliore del primo GP perché ho preso alcuni punti nella prima gara, ma è stato anche un GP difficile con un grosso incidente nella seconda gara. Non ero in grado di guidare troppo prima di Valkenswaard perché avevo bisogno di un sacco di massaggi e di fisioterapia sulla spalla che avevo ferito a Matterley, quindi mi aspettavo che le cose fossero difficili. Sono riuscito a trovare un buon ritmo nella prima manche, ed ero felice, anche non troppo lontano dalla top 10. Quindi, segnare alcuni punti era buono. Nella seconda gara ho avuto una buona partenza, ma poi sono caduto molto pesantemente, ho superato il manubrio e sono atterrato di nuovo sulla mia spalla. Spero che nulla sia danneggiato gravemente, ma lo controlleremo e lavoreremo per tornare alla piena forma fisica “.

GASGAS Factory Racing have enjoyed three top-10 overall results at round two of the FIM Motocross World Championship, the MXGP of The Netherlands at the iconic Valkenswaard circuit. Racing in the MXGP class for Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing, Glenn Coldenhoff overcame first lap crashes in both races to end the GP with 7-9 results, earning seventh overall. The DIGA Procross GASGAS Factory Juniors pairing of Simon Langenfelder and Jeremy Sydow stole the show in the second MX2 moto. Racing together as they battled at the front of the field, Langenfelder placed fifth in just the second GP of his career to earn 10th overall while Sydow recorded 14-8 results for eighth overall.
Glenn Coldenhoff made a great start in the opening MXGP race, running as high as sixth place, before coming together with another rider on the opening lap. The Dutchman remounted and fought through the talent-stacked MXGP field to break into the top-10 on lap 11 of the 17-lap race. On the penultimate lap, Glenn moved into ninth position where he remained until the finish.
A first turn crash in race two saw Coldenhoff trapped in Clement Desalle’s bike, resulting in a burn to his leg. Despite this, and a subsequent additional fall, Coldenhoff remounted and ended the opening lap in 32nd before beginning a race-long charge to the front. Making more late race passes, he moved into seventh place to also earn seventh overall in the MXGP class. Glenn now moves up to sixth in the MXGP series standings ahead of round three in Argentina in two weeks’ time.
Ivo Monticelli recorded a strong first MXGP moto finish in Valkenswaard. Running as high as 13th early in the race, he dropped back to 16th on lap five before latching onto the back of teammate Coldenhoff who was on his own charge through the field. Running in 14th place at the midway stage of the race, the Italian went on to finish the moto in 15th. A great start in the second race saw the MC 450F mounted rider running in sixth place early in the moto before a big crash saw the Italian land on his shoulder, which led to an early end to his race.
Placing eighth overall in the MX2 class was DIGA Procross GASGAS Factory Juniors’ Jeremy Sydow. Continuing to collect valuable points in his first full season of MX2 World Championship competition, the youngster ended race one in a strong 14th position. Finishing a superb eighth in the second moto, Sydow placed eighth overall and moves up three places to 10th in the championship standings.
Simon Langenfelder narrowly missed out on a points scoring ride in race one, ending the moto in 21st position despite a heavy fall. Making a huge step forward in moto two, a top-10 start saw the 15-year-old, in just his second GP, run in a strong third position for no fewer than six laps. Relinquishing pressure from two much more experienced rivals in the closing stages of the moto, the young German remained composed and finished the moto in fifth place, earning his first ever MX2 World Championship points.
Both Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing and the DIGA Procross GASGAS Factory Juniors will next be in action at round three of the FIM Motocross World Championship on March 22, at the MXGP of Patagonia Argentina.
Glenn Coldenhoff: “For sure not the results that I wanted as I was confident that I had the speed and fitness to be on the podium, but things just didn’t go the way I needed them to. Everyone knows I love the sand, and especially when it’s deep and demanding like it was this weekend. To get on the podium you have to be up front during the opening laps and frustratingly that didn’t happen for me. Things started well in the first moto and I got a solid start. But around the first lap I came together with another rider and that put me dead last, so I had a lot of work to do. I got back up to ninth, but of course I wanted a better result than that. The second race went wrong at the first corner. I crashed with Clement Desalle and got both my legs between his rear wheel and exhaust and burned my leg. I got going, fell again on the first lap, and, yeah, not what we’d hoped for. It’s always tough when you don’t get the result you know you can achieve, especially when you’re enjoying the track and conditions. But we’ll keep working and look forward to Argentina.”
Ivo Monticelli: “This has been a better weekend that the first GP because I took some points in the first race, but it’s also been a difficult GP with a heavy crash in the second race. I wasn’t able to ride too much before Valkenswaard because I needed a lot of massage and physio on the shoulder that I hurt at Matterley, so I was expecting things to be difficult. I managed to find a good rhythm in the first moto, and I was happy, also not too far from the top 10. So, to score some points was good. In the second race I had a good start, but then I crashed really heavily, went over the handlebars and landed on my shoulder again. I’m hoping nothing is damaged badly but we will get it checked and work on getting back to full fitness.”
SIMON LÄNGENFELDER: “After the qualification race with 12th place, I was very happy. Unfortunately, I fell twice in the first race and missed the points, which really annoyed me. So I was all the more motivated for the second race and I’m very happy with 5th place. At the current time of the season, I never expected to be in the front. I hope to show this more often in the course of the season. ”
JEREMY SYDOW: “After the qualifying race (31st place) I was a bit sober, but got off to a good start on both motos and was already satisfied with 14th place in the first race. In the second race it was even better and I had a strong duel with Simon. The feeling of being in the front motivates me even more and I am very happy with the 8th place. The hard work with the entire team over the winter is already paying off and we hope we can build on these results. ”
