Benoit Paturel da quando si è trasferito in MXGP, non ha chiuso una stagione a causa di infortuni e ora è stato confermato che è fuori per il resto della stagione attuale.

Il pilota francese ha combattuto con il virus Epstein Barr che è stato trovato nel suo sangue. Paturel ha iniziato le cure per guarire il prima possibile, ma non lo vedremo correre di nuovo in questa stagione.

The Gebben van Venrooy Kawasaki Team suffered a major setback at the Latvian round of the MXGP world championship series. After having lost Alessandro Lupino to injury at the Russian GP the week before, their remaining rider Benoit Paturel joined the injury list in Latvia. 
Paturel posted competitive times during the timed sessions, but misfortune struck during the qualifying race when he was in eighth position. His foot slammed down hard on the track and he injured his knee, which forced him out of the qualifying race. The team held out hopes that he might participate in Sunday’s races, but after a few laps of the warm-up session it was clear that he was in no position to race.| Paturel traveled home for immediate treatment, and the extent of the injury and the date of his return to racing will become clearer after a few examinations. The German round of the series takes place at Teutschenthal next weekend.
