Kegums (Lettonia) 12 giu 2019 – MXGP tornerà al bellissimo circuito di Kegums il prossimo fine settimana per la MXGP di Lettonia e il 9° round del FIM Motocross World Championship 2019 è davvero iniziando a scaldarsi. Il circuito lettone sta piacevolmente in una zona boschiva, a 50 chilometri dalla città di Riga ed è uno dei favoriti del paddock MXGP. Sandy, con buone sezioni tecniche, Kegums è il luogo ideale per la MXGP e MX2 per continuare il cammino 2019. Lo scorso fine settimana in Russia abbiamo visto la prestazione dominante del team HRC Tim Gajser che è riuscito ad afferrare la tabella rossa MXGP con 13 punti di vantaggio su Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Antonio Cairoli  mentre Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jorge Prado ha continuato la sua caccia al titolo.

Il giro Lettone ospiterà anche i campionati europei di motocross FIM di EMX250 e EMX2T. Lo scorso fine settimana in Russia è stato l’olandese F & H pilota Kawasaki Roan Van De Moosdijk che ha preso la vittoria, mentre Stefano Rubini del team Honda Assomotor ha preso la tabella rossa e la guida nei punti della serie. Nel EMX2T Presentato da FMF racing Todd Kellett ha conquistato la vittoria per la prima volta e Brad Anderson ha preso la tabella rossa dalla Russia.

Prima dell’ MXGP della Russia la classe MXGP era dominata da Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Antonio Cairoli. Tuttavia, del Team HRC Tim Gajser, che arriva con 1-1 per il terzo GP di fila, si dirige ora in Lettonia con la tabella rossa e una manciata di punti a portata di mano di vantaggio su Cairoli, ma a Kegums, una pista dove ha vinto 4 volte e ha finito secondo in 4 occasioni, è determinato a mantenere la sua quantità di vittorie. Cairoli ha finito 2° lo scorso anno in Lettonia, mentre Gajser ha chiuso 5°.

Il podio in Russia ha visto due piloti Yamaha in seconda e terza posizione, Monster Energy Wilvo Yamaha ufficiale di MXGP Arnaud Tonus e Jeremy Seewer dal team Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP. La coppia di svizzeri ha fatto la storia, per la prima volta due piloti svizzeri erano in piedi sul podio nella classe MXGP. Seewer è ora 4° nel Campionato MXGP mentre Tonus, dopo aver terminato sul podio gli ultimi tre GP, è ora 7° a soli 2 punti dietro Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team Clement Desalle, che è obbligato a perdere l’MXGP della Lettonia a causa di un infortunio. Aggiornamenti sulle condizioni di Desalle saranno dati a breve.

Molto interesse è stato il ritorno di Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jeffrey Herlings, che ha concluso al quarto posto assoluto in Russia e va in Lettonia come un vero e proprio concorrente per la vittoria di un GP, o almeno un podio. Jeffrey Herlings ha vinto il suo primo MXGP complessivo a Kegums nel 2017 e in cima alla MXGP della Lettonia nel 2018.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Pauls Jonass, che ha ottenuto due solide seconde posizione in Lettonia due anni precedenti in MX2, è disposto a mostrare una certa buona velocità in questo fine settimana, lui correrà davanti al suo pubblico di casa per la prima volta nella MXGP .

L’anno scorso fece podio, Monster Energy Wilvo Yamaha ufficiale MXGP Gautier Paulin è un altro pilota da guardare, come non ha mai mancato la Top 10 nelle precedenti 8 edizioni del GP della Lettonia. Il pilota francese è ora 3° nella classifica del campionato.

Nella classe MX2 è il pilota Red Bull KTM Factory Jorge Prado che ha dimostrato straordinaria velocità con 1-1 in quasi tutte le gare ed estendendo i suoi punti in campionato MX2. Prado ha corso in Lettonia nel 2017 e nel 2018, ma non ha mai raggiunto il podio MX2. Lo spagnolo schiererà per una prima vittoria a Kegums.

Pilota Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Thomas Kjer Olsen è arrivato secondo lo scorso fine settimana nel complesso e sembra essere imbattibile nella pista di Kegums, dopo aver vinto nel 2017 e 2018. D’altra parte, team Monster Energy Yamaha ufficiale Kemea MX2 Jago Geerts, che aveva il suo primo podio MX2 in Lettonia lo scorso anno, ancora una volta si è trovato sul podio in Russia e si sente più forte e più forte come la stagione continua. Sia Olsen e Geerts possono battere Prado in Lettonia come lo scorso anno e si stanno dirigendo verso la pista sabbiosa di Kegums pieni di fiducia.

Altri piloti che stanno cercando di correre a Kegums questo fine settimana sono di F & H Kawasaki Henry Jacobi, Honda 114 Motorsports Mitchell Evans e Red Bull KTM Factory Tom Vialle, che daranno il loro meglio per impressionare tutti e finire sul podio. Tuttavia, ognuno dovrà guardare da vicino gli specialisti della sabbia Davy Pootjes dalla squadra DIGA PROcross Husqvarna o Monster Energy Yamaha Kemea Ben Watson come non lasceranno le cose facili per il resto dei contendenti MX2.

Gajser & Prado take red plates to Latvia

KEGUMS (Latvia) 12 June 2019 – MXGP will return to the beautiful circuit of Kegums this coming weekend for the MXGP of Latvia and the 9th round of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship is really starting to heat up. The Latvian circuit sits nicely in a forest area, 50 kilometres from the city of Riga and it is one of the favourites of the MXGP paddock. Sandy based, with good technical sections, Kegums is the perfect place for the MXGP and MX2 championships to continue the 2019 journey. Last weekend in Russia we saw the dominant performance of Team HRC’s Tim Gajser who managed to grab the MXGP Red Plate 13 points ahead of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli while Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado continued his title chase in fashion.

The Latvian round will also host the FIM Europe Motocross Championships of EMX250 and the EMX2T presented by FMF Racing. Last weekend in Russia it was Dutchman F&H Kawasaki rider Roan Van De Moosdijk who took victory, while Stephen Rubini of the Honda Redmoto Assomotor team took the red plate and the lead in the series points. In the EMX2T Presented by FMF Racing Todd Kellett took the round win for the first time and Verde Substance KTM’s Brad Anderson took the red plate out of Russia.

 

Prior the PATRON MXGP of Russia the MXGP class was dominated by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli. However, Team HRC’s Tim Gajser, who went1-1 for third GP in a row, heads now to Latvia with the red plate and a handy points lead over Cairoli, but the Sicilian heads to Kegums, a track where he has won 4 times and has finished second in 4 occasions, determined to keep his momentum. Cairoli finished 2nd last year in Latvia while Gajser ended 5th. 

The podium in Russia saw two Yamaha riders in second and third position, Monster Energy Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP’s Arnaud Tonus and Jeremy Seewer from Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team. The pair of Swiss made history as for the first time two Swiss riders were standing on the podium in the MXGP class. Seewer is now 4th in the MXGP Championship while Tonus, after finishing on the podium at the last three GPs, is now running 7th just 2 points behind Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Clement Desalle, who is obliged to miss the MXGP of Latvia due to injury. Updates on Desalle’s conditions will be given shortly. 

A lot of interest was around the comeback of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings, who finished fourth overall in Russia and goes into Latvia as a real contender for a GP victory, or at least a podium finish. Jeffrey Herlings won his first ever MXGP overall in Kegums in 2017 and topped the MXGP of Latvia in 2018, too. 

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Pauls Jonass, who obtained two solid second positions in Latvia the previous two years in MX2, is willing to show some good speed this weekend as he will be racing in front of his home crowd for the first time in the MXGP.

Last year’s podium finisher Monster Energy Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP’s Gautier Paulin is another rider to watch, as he has never missed the Top 10 in the previous 8 editions of the Latvian GP.  The French rider is sitting now 3rd in the championship standings.

In the MX2 class it is Red Bull KTM Factory rider Jorge Prado who has shown amazing speed going 1-1 in almost all the races and extending his MX2 championship points lead event after event. Prado raced in Latvia in 2017 and 2018 but he has never reached the MX2 podium. The Spanish will line up for a career first GP win in Kegums. 

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory rider Thomas Kjer Olsen finished second overall last weekend and looks to be unbeatable on the Kegums track after having won in 2017 and 2018. On the other hand, Monster Energy Kemea Yamaha Official MX2 team’s Jago Geerts, who had his first MX2 podium in Latvia last year, once again found himself on the podium in Russia and he is getting stronger and stronger as the season rolls on. Both Olsen and Geerts beat Prado in Latvia last year and are heading towards the sandy track of Kegums full of confidence.

Other riders who are looking forward to racing in Kegums this weekend are F&H Kawasaki’s Henry Jacobi, Honda 114 Motorsports team’s Mitchell Evans and Red Bull KTM Factory team’s Tom Vialle who will give their best to impress everybody and finish on the podium. However, everybody will have to watch closely sand specialists Davy Pootjes from DIGA Procross Husqvarna team or Monster Energy Kemea Yamaha rider Ben Watson as they will not leave things easy for the rest of the MX2 contenders.
