Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Romain Febvre della MXGP ha sofferto di una frattura alla caviglia nel round di apertura del Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross in Argentina e successivamente ha saltato quattro round del campionato. Il team è lieto di annunciare che ora è stato ritenuto opportuno per tornare a correre al Gran Premio del Portogallo questo fine settimana, il 19 maggio.
Febvre ha vinto la prima gara di qualifica della stagione ed è stato al top della forma, pronto a gareggiare per l’ambito titolo MXGP. Sfortunatamente, l’ex campione del mondo è caduto nella seconda gara del Gran Premio di apertura e ha subito due fratture al suo Talus (caviglia). L’infortunio è stato sistemato chirurgicamente in Belgio il 13 marzo.
Sono passati due mesi e il ventiseienne francese ha ora completato un programma di riabilitazione intensiva ed è stato clinicamente autorizzato a correre. È tornato in moto già da due settimane e si allineerà a bordo della sua YZ450FM ad Agueda, in Portogallo, al sesto round del Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross.
Come uno dei soli tre vincitori delle gare di qualificazione in questa stagione, il suo ritorno all’azione è molto atteso.
Romain Febvre: “Sono entusiasta di ricominciare a correre. Il mio piede non è ancora al 100% poiché ci vorranno alcune settimane per migliorare la mobilità. A volte ho ancora dolore, ma non è male. Penso che siano passate 9 settimane dall’operazione e mi rendo conto che ho bisogno di un punto di partenza per tornare alle corse, anche se non è al 100% perché non c’è un lasso di tempo garantito in cui sarà al 100%. Non posso aspettare, perché perderò troppo tempo. Non vedo l’ora di tornare in Portogallo. Mi piace la pista lì, quindi non vedo l’ora di riscoprire la mia velocità e di iniziare a ricostruire la mia condizione di gara “.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Romain Febvre suffered a broken ankle at the opening round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Argentina and subsequently missed four rounds of the championship. The team are pleased to announce that he has now been deemed fit to return to racing at the Portuguese Grand Prix this weekend, May 19th.
Febvre won the first Qualifying Race of the season and was in top form, ready to vie for the coveted MXGP title. Unfortunately, the former World Champion fell in the second race at the opening Grand Prix and suffered two fractures to his Talus (ankle). The injury was surgically repaired in Belgium on March 13th.
Two months have passed, and the 26-year-old Frenchman has now completed an intensive rehabilitation program and been medically cleared to race. He has been back on the bike for two-weeks already and will line up onboard his YZ450FM in Agueda, Portugal, at the sixth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
As one of only three Qualifying Race winners this season, his return to action is greatly anticipated.

“I’m excited to start racing again. My foot is not yet 100% as it is expected to take a few more weeks for the mobility to improve. I still have pain sometimes, but it is not too bad. I think it has been 9-weeks since the operation and I realise that I need a starting point to return to racing, even if it is not 100% because there is no guaranteed time frame in which it will be 100%. I can’t wait for it, because I will lose too much time. I look forward to returning in Portugal. I like the track there, so I look forward to rediscovering my speed and to start rebuilding my race condition.”
