MONACO (Principato di Monaco) 9 maggio 2019 – Il Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross 2019 è tornato a correre questo fine settimana mentre MXGP si dirige verso il circuito di Mantova, in Italia. A oltre un mese dall’ultimo round in Trentino, il Monster Energy MXGP della Lombardia in questo fine settimana sarà il secondo round italiano della stagione. Ultima visita al circuito sabbioso di Mantova durante la stagione 2016. I fan italiani e i migliori piloti di motocross del mondo riporteranno la scena in questo fine settimana.
Mentre i combattimenti del campionato iniziano a scaldarsi sia nelle categorie MXGP che MX2, il round della Lombardia ospiterà anche i due campionati FIM Europei di EMX125 e EMX2T. In EMX2T il Green Substance Anderson vedrà se riuscirà a replicare il suo risultato 1-1 durante l’apertura della stagione in Gran Bretagna mentre Mike Kras del Team Ecomaxx Fuels cercherà di vendicare il suo DNF durante Gara 2 al Matterley Basin. EMX125 vedrà il suo terzo round questo fine settimana con l’italiano Mattia Guadagnini di Maddi Racing Husqvarna in testa alla classifica del campionato di 10 punti sul Tom Guyon del Team VR.

L’inseguimento al titolo MXGP si è surriscaldato nel round precedente in Trentino, dove il pilota della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Antonio Cairoli e Tim Gajser del Team HRC sono andati in una battaglia per la vittoria. Le alte velocità, la resistenza e le corse strette, ma pulite, hanno dato un preludio epico alla pausa precedente a questo fine settimana. Con il ritorno delle corse questa settimana e di nuovo in Italia su un circuito in cui la coppia ha combattuto nel 2016, le aspettative sono meritatamente alte per quello che ci aspetta.
Mentre Cairoli cerca di mantenere i suoi punti di vantaggio, Gajser cercherà di mantenere lo slancio in una sede che ha concluso 1-1 in MXGP nel 2016. La coppia di contendenti al titolo avrà a che fare con la velocità di miglioramento di Monster Energy Wilvo Yamaha Gautier Paulin e altri ufficiali MXGP.
Paulin ha terminato il 2° passaggio a Mantova nel 2016 e sembrava aver trovato un modo per separarsi dal resto del campo in Trentino, ma ora dovrà colmare il gap con Cairoli e Gajser.
L’Arminas Jasikonis di Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing potrebbe essere un potenziale podio questo fine settimana dopo aver dimostrato una notevole velocità e coerenza per tutto l’anno fino ad ora. Il lituano non è estraneo alla sabbia e attualmente detiene il 4° posto nella classifica del campionato.
Anche la Honda SR Motoblouzrider Jeremy Van Horebeek ha ottenuto ottimi risultati dalle passate edizioni del MXGP a Mantova segnando 5° nel 2016 e 2° nel 2015. Si può affermare che il belga si sente al meglio facendolo diventare una minaccia per il podio.
Il connazionale di Van Horebeek, Clement Desalle di Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing dovrebbe tornare questo fine settimana dopo che Kawasaki ha annunciato che il sesto pilota in classifica ha avuto un intervento al ginocchio in seguito al trentino.
Mentre molti stavano aspettando di vedere il Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jeffrey Herlings tornare alle corse questa settimana sembra che debbano aspettare un po ‘di più visto che KTM non ha ancora dato indicazioni sul suo ritorno.
La classe MX2 nel frattempo ha tutti gli occhi puntati sul campione in carica della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, Jorge Prado. È Thomas Kjer Olsen di Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing a guidare la classifica del campionato.
Il motivo alla base della popolarità di Prado è chiara, anche se visto che il giovane spagnolo ha dominato ciascuno dei 3 round in cui è entrato, il problema sono i 4 round disputati. Successo per Prado non dovrebbe essere una conclusione sfortunata anche se non solo Olsen sta cercando di raggiungere il podio, molti altri come Henry Jacobi di FH Racing Kawasaki, Monster Energy Kemea di Yamaha Ben Watson e Jago Geerts, o anche il debuttante del Red Bull Red Bull KTM compagno di squadra Tom Vialle .
Jacobi è stato forse il pilota più interessante da vedere ultimamente, visto che il suo stile fiammeggiante ea tratti fuori dagli schemi, sembra spingere oltre i limiti del controllo. Jacobi ha già disputato una stagione migliore nei quattro turni rispetto a qualsiasi anno prima e quello che era iniziato come un obiettivo di essere in cima non è più sufficiente per il tedesco.
Il Kemea Yamaha di Watson e Geerts ha sorpreso molti di loro, visto che Geerts ha superato le aspettative con una guida brillante e con i passaggi last-minute per mantenere il quinto posto nella classifica del campionato. Watson conduce su Geerts, ma mentre ha mostrato velocità le sue prestazioni incoerenti devono ancora guadagnare un podio in questa stagione.
Il compagno di squadra Red Bull KTM Factory Racing di Prado, Tom Vialle, è stato il debuttante più impressionante, ma aiutato da una partenza impeccabile che gli ha permesso di correre davanti fin dall’inizio.
Calvin Vlaanderen del Team HRC ha totalizzato il 4° posto nei primi 3 turni del 2019 prima di fratturarsi la tibia in Trentino poco più di un mese fa. Mentre potremmo non vedere Vlaanderen a tutta velocità, l’olandese è stato confermato per le gare questo weekend da Honda.

Monster Energy MXGP of Lombardia Set for Racing Return
MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 9 May 2019 – The 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship is back to racing this weekend as MXGP heads to the circuit of Mantova, Italy. Over a month since the last round took to Trentino in dramatic fashion the Monster Energy MXGP of Lombardia this weekend will be the second Italian round of the season. Last visiting the sandy Mantova circuit during the 2016 season Italian fans and the world’s best motocross riders will bring the venue back to life this weekend.
As the championship fights start to heat up in both the MXGP and MX2 categories the round of Lombardia will also host the two stoke FIM Europe Championships of EMX125 and EMX2T presented by FMF Racing. In EMX2T presented by FMF Racing Verde Substance KTM’s Brad Anderson will see if he can replicate his 1-1 result during the season opener in Great Britain while Team Ecomaxx Fuels’ Mike Kras will try and avenge his DNF during Race 2 at Matterley Basin. EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing will see its third round this weekend as Italian Mattia Guadagnini from Maddi Racing Husqvarna leads the Championship standings by 10 point over Team VR’s Tom Guyon.
The MXGP title chase heated up at the previous round in Trentino where Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli and Team HRC’s Tim Gajser went all out in a battle for the win. High speeds, endurance, and tight but clean racing made for an epic prelude to the break prior to this weekend. With the return of racing this week and again in Italy on a circuit the pair battled on in 2016 expectations are deservedly high for what lies ahead.
As Cairoli looks to maintain his points advantage Gajser will be striving to maintain the momentum at a venue he took 1-1 finishes for the MXGP overall in 2016. The pair of title contenders will have to do with the improving speed of Monster Energy Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP’s Gautier Paulin and others however.
Paulin finished 2ndoverall in Mantova in 2016 and seemed to have found a way to separate himself from the rest of the field in Trentino but will now need to bridge the gap to Cairoli and Gajser.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Arminas Jasikonis could be a potential podium this weekend after showing impressive speed and consistency throughout the year thus far. The lengthy Lithuanian is no stranger to sand and currently holds down 4thin the championship standings.
Honda SR Motoblouzrider Jeremy Van Horebeek also has strong results from past editions of MXGP in Mantova scoring 5thin 2016 and 2ndin 2015. It is safe to say that the Belgian is feeling as good if not better than ever currently making him a threat to the podium.
Van Horebeek’s fellow countryman Clement Desalle from Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing is expected to return this weekend after Kawasaki announced the 6thplace rider in the championship standings had a knee operation following Trentino.
While many were waiting to see Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings return to racing this week it looks as if they may have to wait a little longer as KTM has given no indication of his return yet.

The MX2 class meanwhile has all eyes focused on the defending champion from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, Jorge Prado. It is Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Thomas Kjer Olsen that leads the championship standings however.
The reason behind Prado’s popularity is clear though seeing that the young Spaniard has dominated each of the 3 rounds he’s entered, the problem being 4 rounds are in the books. Success for Prado should not be a forgone conclusion though as its not just Olsen looking to top the podium several others such as FH Racing Kawasaki’s Henry Jacobi, Monster Energy Kemea Yamaha’s Ben Watson and Jago Geerts, or even Prado’s rookie Red Bull KTM Teammate Tom Vialle.
Jacobi has been perhaps the most interesting rider to watch lately as his flamboyant and at times all out riding style appears to push the boundaries of control. Jacobi has already had a better season four rounds in than any year prior and what started as a goal of being in the top is no longer sufficient for the German.
The Kemea Yamaha’s of Watson and Geerts have surprised many as Geerts has surpassed expectations with brilliant riding and last-minute passes to hold fifth in the championship standings. Points wise Watson leads Geerts but while he has shown speed his inconsistent performances have yet to earn the Brit a podium this season.
The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate of Prado, Tom Vialle, has been the most impressive rookie yet aided by impeccable starts allowing him to run at the front from the beginning.
Team HRC’s Calvin Vlaanderen has scored 4thplace overall in the first 3 rounds of 2019 before fracturing his fibula in Trentino just over a month ago. While we may not see Vlaanderen at full speed the Dutchman has been confirmed for racing this weekend by Honda.
