San Diego il round 4 del campionato Supercross, che ha dato spettacolo per il tracciato molto difficile a causa della pioggia caduta, quindi pista estremamente difficile a causa del fango! Un vincitore diverso per la stagione 2019 e sembra andare avanti in maniera esagerata con i primi 5 che sono tutti li, col cambio di leader che diventa Eli Tomac e la situazione si fa interessante, siamo ad inizio campionato con 1/4 delle gare disputate, molti piloti e Team devono ancora arrivare alla piena forma. Adam Cianciarulo e Highlights 2019 Supercross From San Diego
Eli Tomac: “Gara pazza, un sacco di fango e fortunatamente sono partito bene prendendo un buon margine. Pensavo di avere un vantaggio piuttosto consistente ad un certo punto, ma alla fine ho incagliato una pedana su un “Tuff Block” e ho fatto spegnere la moto. Speravo che quella cosa non venisse risucchiata nel pignone perché se così fosse sarebbe finita! Ho controllato tutto prima di riaccendere la moto e ripartire! Poi andando alla prima curva dove c’è il triplo mi sono preso una botta di fango in faccia da qualcuno, non sono sicuro da chi sia arrivato, non potevo vedere e ho dovuto fermarmi e tirare via gli occhiali per andare avanti. Fortunatamente ho avuto quel piccolo margine. Ora sono al comando e mancano 12 gare ancora”
Marvin Musquin: “”E ‘stata una giornata pazza e una lunga giornata. Abbiamo aspettato tutto il giorno per uscire e fare solo una prova, ma sono stato in grado di qualificarmi bene in terza e conquistare il terzo posto nella mia heat race. Non ho fatto una buona partenza nel Main Event e la sporcizia era così pesante che è stata appiccicata ai miei occhiali e il mio casco era davvero pesante. Ho raschiato gli occhiali al primo giro un paio di volte per salvare il mio roll-off e ha funzionato fino alla fine, il che è stato grandioso. Sono tornato dopo, ma non avevo idea di dove dovevo provare a fare passaggi. È pazzesco perché non vuoi andare in terra, ma vuoi provare a superare i ragazzi di fronte a te e recuperare il tempo. Ma tu cerchi anche di essere al sicuro e cercare di stare su due ruote, ed è quello che ho fatto. Sapevo che Kenny [Roczen] era davanti a me alla fine ma non sapevo se fosse per il terzo o il secondo – e poi ho tagliato il traguardo e ho guardato il tabellone ed è stato un secondo, che è grandioso. Sono contento di salire sul podio questa sera e ora andare sulla costa est con uno stadio a cupola e una pista asciutta! ”
Ken Roczen: “”Avrebbe potuto essere migliore, avrei potuto essere al secondo posto. Tutti questi punti sono davvero importanti. Ma tutto sommato, ho cambiato alcune cose in questa settimana e ho apportato alcuni miglioramenti alle partenze. Ho cambiato un paio di cose e sembrava dare i suoi frutti. Le partenze erano davvero importanti oggi e ho ottenuto un holeshot. Ma abbastanza sicuro, l’ho buttato via nel secondo turno. Non ci potevo credere. In queste condizioni le partenze sono metà della battaglia e sapevo che sarebbe stata una gara lunga. Alla fine ho pensato di essere al terzo posto e sono tornato al quarto posto quando Marvin mi ha passato e non ero troppo contento per questo. Ma per il campionato, siamo solo a quattro punti di distanza ed è super serrato. La stagione non inizia pienamente fino alla prima decade. Questo è quando devi davvero pensare di essere vicino alla vetta, quindi ora sto solo scegliendo le mie battaglie “.
Chad Reed (5°): “Questo era duro. Hai un ritmo ed è stato abbastanza facile, ma è stato così facile perdere quel ritmo. Sono così felice e così felice di questa opportunità con il team JGR. Un’altra top five a San Diego. ”
Aaron Plessinger (6°): “”Era un po ‘fangoso! Ho fatto una bella gara di qualifica, sono stato superato alla fine per il primo e sono arrivato secondo, ma ero contento dei miei progressi. Sicuramente penso che il mio background off-road aiuti un po ‘nel fango, ma mi sto ancora abituando alla 450. È potente. È pesante. È una transizione difficile da 250s. Sai, sto ancora imparando. Eli Tomac: ““I thought I had a pretty sizable lead at one point, but I ended up catching a footpeg on a Tuff Block and had to pull it off. I was hoping that thing didn’t get sucked into the sprocket because if it did it would have been over! Then going into the turn before the triple I took a blast to the face from someone, I’m not sure who. I couldn’t see and had to stop and pull my roll off just to keep going. Luckily I had that little gap there.”
Marvin Musquin: ““It was a crazy day, and a long day. We waited all day to get out and do only one practice but I was able to qualify good in third and take third in my heat race. I didn’t get a great start in the Main Event and the dirt was so heavy it was packed up in my goggles and my helmet was really heavy. I scraped my goggles on the first lap a couple times to save my roll-off and it worked until the end, which was great. I came back after that but I had no idea where I was to try to make passes. It’s crazy because you don’t want to crash, but you want to try to pass guys in front of you and make up time. But you also try to be safe and try to stay on two wheels, and that’s what I did. I knew Kenny [Roczen] was in front of me at the end but I didn’t know if that was for third or second – and then I crossed the finish line and looked at the board and it was a second, which is great. I’m glad I’m on the podium tonight and now go to the east coast with a dome stadium and a dry track!”
Ken Roczen: ““It could have been better, it could have been second place. All those points are really important. But all in all, I changed some things around this week and made some improvements with starts. I changed a couple things and it seemed to pay off. Starts were really important today and I got a holeshot. But sure enough, I threw it away in the second turn. I couldn’t believe it. In these conditions starts are half the battle and I knew it was going be a long race. At the end I thought I was in third and went back to fourth when Marvin passed me and I wasn’t too happy about that. But for the championship, we’re only four points behind and it’s super tight. The season doesn’t really fully start until around round ten. That’s when you have to really think about being close to the front, so right now I’m just picking my battles.”
Chad Reed (5°): “This one was tough. You get a rhythm and it was quite easy, but it was so easy to lose that rhythm. I’m so happy and so happy with this opportunity with the JGR race team. Another top five in San Diego. ”
Aaron Plessinger (7°): “It was a mudder! I had a really good heat race, I got passed at the end for first and ended up second, but was happy with my progress. I definitely think my off-road background helps in the mud a bit, but I’m still getting used to the 450. It’s power. It’s weight. It’s a tough transition from 250s. You know, I’m learning still. I just have to get the starts, get the bike to where I can really man handle it. I felt pretty good throughout the race. My stomach was still not feeling great, I had food poisoning on Thursday and I really didn’t know what to expect coming into the race weekend. So it was a decent result, but I’m still not satisfied. I want to get inside the top five. I’m going to work hard this week and prepare for Minneapolis.”
