KTM inizia a lavorare con l’ultimo rookie MX2
Red Bull KTM avrà due campioni del mondo FIM in difesa e il secondo posto nel 2018 MXGP nella loro line-up per il 2019; Compagnia esaltante per il nuovo arrivato di Tom Vialle. Il diciottenne francese ha gareggiato quest’anno all’EMX250 e ottiene la sella più richiesta nella classe MX2 Grand Prix, diventando il primo debuttante della squadra in tre anni e da quando Jorge Prado ha fatto le wildcard alla fine del 2016.
Per l’equipaggio della factory Vialle presenta una sfida diversa rispetto alle aspettative di successo che circondano Jeffrey Herlings, Tony Cairol e Prado.
“Inizialmente non sapevamo molto di lui perché non stava attraversando la struttura come Pauls [Jonass] e Jorge, ma l’abbiamo visto guidare, penso che abbia un potenziale e un buon stile sulla moto”, afferma MX2 Team Manager e Tea, Coordinatore tecnico Dirk Gruebel, che, insieme a Joel Smets, guideranno il mandato del GP di Vialle. “Penso che con il tempo, la nostra moto e il feedback, possa fare qualcosa di buono. Nel 2014 Pauls è sembrato piuttosto terrificante con la 250, ma poi ha girato tutto per il 2015. Tom è tranquillo e timido, ma tutta la famiglia si è trasferita in Belgio e stanno facendo il passo giusto. Daremo loro gli strumenti per fare il lavoro. “
Vialle ha brillato su Husqvarna e materiale KTM in EMX250 con tre podi ma Gruebel è il primo ad ammettere che i fan della gara non dovrebbero immediatamente aspettarsi un’altra sorprendente apparizione come quella di Prado e dopo la recente ondata di atleti che è passata attraverso la struttura della squadra. Vialle ha molto lavoro in corso e un giovane che potrebbe trarre beneficio dal tutuledge di Smets nel modo in cui Prado ha prosperato sotto l’ala di Claudio De Carli.
“È un ragazzo promettente, ma non è un Prado”, ha detto il tedesco. “Abbiamo visto Jorge da quando era sella 85 e anche allora sapevamo che era un fenomeno con il modo in cui si è fermato e ha spostato la moto. Non ci sono molti rider come lui e siamo stati fortunati ad avere alcuni di quelli come Marvin, Kenny, Jeffrey: molte belle storie. Però a noi piace quello che vediamo con Tom. “

KTM start work with latest MX2 rookie
Red Bull KTM will have two defending FIM world champions and the 2018 MXGP runner-up in their line-up for 2019; exulted company for newcomer Tom Vialle. The eighteen year old Frenchman was competing in EMX250 this year and gets the most sought after saddle in the MX2 Grand Prix class, becoming the team’s first rookie in three years and since Jorge Prado made wildcard appearances at the end of 2016.
For the factory crew Vialle presents a different challenge compared to the expectations of success surrounding Jeffrey Herlings, Tony Cairol and Prado.
“Initially we didn’t know that much about him because he wasn’t coming through the structure like Pauls [Jonass] and Jorge but we’ve seen him riding I think he has potential and a good style on the bike,” says MX2 Team Manager and Tea, Technical Co-ordinator Dirk Gruebel, who, along with Joel Smets, will steer Vialle’s debut GP term. “I think with time and our bike and feedback he can do something good. In 2014 Pauls looked quite terrible on the 250 but then turned it around so well for 2015. Tom is quiet and shy but the whole family has moved to Belgium and they are all making the right step. We’ll give them the tools to do the job.”
Vialle shone on Husqvarna and KTM material in EMX250 with three podium finishes but Gruebel is the first to admit that race fans should not immediately expect another startling emergence like Prado’s and following the recent flush of athletes that came through the squad’s structure. Vialle is very much work in progress and a youngster that could benefit from Smets’ tutuledge in the way Prado thrived under Claudio De Carli’s wing.
“He’s a promising kid but he’s not a Prado,” the German said. “We watched Jorge since he was on 85s and even then we knew he was a phenomenon with the way he stood and moved the bike. There are not many riders like him and we’ve been blessed to have some of those like Marvin, Kenny, Jeffrey: many nice stories. We like what we see with Tom though.”
