GP of Netherlands – Assen – Rider Comments
GP of Netherlands nel tracciato creato appositamente per questo evento, a nostro avviso bello ma non necessario e sopratutto, solo qualcuno è riuscito ad andare forte e sapete già a chi ci riferiamo, tecnico, lavorato bene e fortunatamente quest’anno non ci sono stati infortuni o cadute importanti, ma detto sinceramente, stiamo rivalutando questo tipo di tracciati e ve lo spiaghiamo in poche righe, pubblico seduto comodamente e si gusta delle belle battaglie, tracciato che si sistema alla perfezione(salvo diluvi universali, le immagini TV risultano sempre belle per il contorno, certo, siamo amanti dei tracciati naturali, ma qui non sia in America e ci si deve accontentare! Comunque, tornando a quello che è stata la gara ad Assen, Jeffrey Herlings con un altra schiacciante doppietta che lo porta a conquistare il suo 1° Mondiale nella massima categoria, ora è a 4 Mondiali vinti, Tony Cairoli combatte e se non fosse stato per un doppiado che lo ha rallentato, probabilmente avremmo visto una gara diversa, o forse no visto che Herlings aveva dalla sua anche il tifo di casa, ma per un attimo abbiamo pensato che stesse provando delle cose per la prossima stagione e sicuramente le rivedremo anche ad Imola! Terzo, cosa veramente assurda, un formidabile Max Anstie, che lo vede guidare molto bene e finisce sul podio, la cosa assurda è che il prossimo anno non si sa di che destino debba finire……meriterebbe un posto ufficiale….non credete???
MX2 se solo fosse andata ancor peggio a Jonass a livello punti, non ci sarebbe più nulla da vedere, ma Pauls lotta con le cadute e i recuperi, così il mondiale è appeso per soli 4 punti, ad Imola vedremo se Prado vorrà ripetersi con una doppietta o vorrà chiudere il mondiale in una maniera classica! Molto bene Covington e Olsen a chiudere il podio!!!

Max Anstie: “Ho lavorato tanto negli ultimi GP per arrivare dove sono ora, ed è bello poter lottare per il podio. Mi sento sempre meglio: negli ultimi due mesi ho fatto alcune gare buone e altre meno buone, ma ora sembra che le cose vadano per il vero giusto, e sto riuscendo a dimostrare la mia velocità. Questa settimana ho fatto delle belle battaglie, come quella con Glenn [Coldenhoff] per il terzo posto in Gara2, All’inizio non sapevo se dovevo stargli davanti per salire sul podio, per cui stavo dando il massimo per superarlo. Poi i miei meccanici mi hanno segnalato che bastava fare quarto, mi sono rilassato guidando al mio passo. È bello essere sul podio della classe regina.”
RIDERS MX2 PODIO
Jorge Prado: “Prima di tutto congratulazioni a Jeffrey Herlings perché è stato protagonista di una stagione incredibile, eccellente. Il mio weekend è andato bene, ieri ho vinto la gara di qualifica, ed è cresciuta la fiducia per oggi, dove ho vinto entrambe le gare, quindi non potevo chiedere un GP migliore e non vedo l’ora di scendere in pista a Imola”.
Thomas Covington: “Il weekend non era partito granché bene, ma sono riuscito a volgerlo a mio favore. Nella manche di qualificazione sono caduto bucando il radiatore, per cui non sono riuscito ad arrivare al traguardo. Sono dovuto partire due volte dall’esterno del cancelletto; e per come era angolato, sembrava impossibile poter partire bene. Invece ho dato il massimo, e in qualche modo ho trovato in entrambi i casi la velocità per arrivare alla prima curva nei primi tre; dopodiché ho cercato soprattutto di arrivare in fondo. La pista era parecchio insidiosa, ed era fondamentale evitare rischi. Penso di aver guidato con molta cautela in Gara1, ma in Gara2 ho attaccato di più. È stato bello avere tutto il team Rockstar Energy Husqvarna sul podio in questo weekend.”
Thomas Kjer-Olsen: “Ho guidato bene per tutto il weekend. In entrambe le manche ho avuto buone sensazioni, ma in Gara2 ho fatto un piccolo errore che mi ha fatto cadere. Anche nella manche di qualificazione non ero soddisfatto di come ho guidato, ma sapevo che la domenica avevo la velocità per lottare davanti. Sono partito sempre bene, ho guidato bene e sono contento di essere sul podio per il secondo GP di fila. Sono soddisfatto del mio weekend qui in Olanda; ora guardiamo tutti al gran finale in Italia fra due settimane.”

Gautier Paulin: “Avevo un buon passo, ma ho faticato in partenza il che mi ha complicato molto la vita. Partire male e dover risalire dalle retrovie è sempre difficile, ma su questa pista mi è sembrato ancora più duro. In Gara1 ho fatto i primi giri fuori dalla top 20 ma sono riuscito ad arrivare settimo; poi in Gara2 ho fatto ottavo dopo un’altra brutta partenza, ma è veramente stato il massimo che potessi fare. Sinceramente sono un po’ dispiaciuto, visto che mi sono sempre sentito in forma in questo weekend e ci tenevo a far bene. Ma da qua guardiamo avanti, per far bene nel gran finale in Italia.”
Pauls Jonass: “Normalmente mi piace molto la sabbia ma da quando ho avuto l’incidente in Turchia con Jorge ho danneggiato i legamenti del mio ginocchio e nelle ultime due settimane non ho potuto fare molto. Penso di essere andato in bicicletta tre volte e ho provato a guidare una volta, ma non ho potuto fare nulla. Oggi non è stato male perché ho preso alcuni antidolorifici, ma non avevo molta forza nelle gambe. Dopo due settimane sdraiato sul divano sapevo che non avrei potuto fare molto: è difficile entrare in una buona forma ma è così facile perderla! È deludente e sconvolgente perdere punti. Jorge ne ha solo quattro adesso … ma non è ancora finito finché non è finito. ”
Calvin Vlaanderen: Assen è finita e sto davvero uscendo di buon umore, anche se ovviamente sono un po ‘deluso dal fatto di non finire sul podio. Quarto in generale non è qualcosa di cui possiamo lamentarci. Ho faticato un po ‘a trovare il ritmo nella prima gara mentre stavo inseguendo Ben Watson; Ho provato a passarlo, ma non sono riuscito a farlo. Vedere Jeffrey Herlings vincere il titolo mi ha dato molte motivazioni per la seconda gara; Ho avuto una buona velocità e flusso, quindi ero felice di finire secondo. Vorrei ringraziare soprattutto la squadra e il mio equipaggio, e ora possiamo prepararci per l’ultimo GP di Imola!
Tim Gajser: è stato un solido weekend nel complesso. Dovremo sicuramente lavorare ancora un po ‘sulla sabbia per il prossimo anno, anche se siamo migliorati molto da Lommel. Siamo riusciti a colmare un po ‘il distacco su Desalle, anche se con un solo round ci sono ancora molti punti tra noi. Otteniamo questi punti e attendo con impazienza Imola: è una pista hard-pack e da quello che ho visto sembra abbastanza buona, quindi non vedo l’ora di provarla! La squadra è stata protagonista come sempre, quindi un grande grazie a loro!
Clement Desalle: «È stato un weekend strano per me, perché ho alcuni brutti ricordi dell’anno scorso, ma ho anche vinto qui nel 2016! Abbiamo lavorato con il team su piste sabbiose dopo la Turchia e abbiamo apportato alcuni piccoli miglioramenti al setup, quindi è positivo per il futuro. La mia prima partenza non è stata male, ma nelle prime due curve sono quasi caduto e ho colpito un altro pilota con il mio gomito. Ero fuori dai primi quindici ma sono tornato al settimo posto prima di avere un piccolo problema tecnico negli ultimi dieci minuti e non sono riuscito a mantenere lo stesso ritmo, così ho perso due posizioni per finire nono. La mia seconda partenza è stata migliore; Ero settimo e ho mantenuto quella posizione fino alla fine; ad un certo punto ero vicino al sesto posto, ma un doppiato non si è spostato e mi è costato il contatto. Continuerò a lavorare sodo; Sono ancora terzo in campionato, ma non è ancora completamente sicuro e voglio questo podio in classifica finale. »
Shaun Simpson: “Mi sento bene, sono un po ‘deluso dal fatto che non ho finito nella top-five, lo volevo, il team lo voleva e Jeremy lo voleva tutto l’anno, ma sfortunatamente non siamo riusciti a farlo Sono un po ‘deluso per questo, ma per il resto è stato il miglior fine settimana che ho avuto tutto l’anno. Ho mostrato una buona velocità ieri, e anche oggi ma sono caduto in ogni gara questo weekend. la prima gara dove avrei potuto finire al quarto posto, nella seconda gara la mia velocità era buona, ma non era abbastanza, avevo bisogno di più velocità “sprint” piuttosto che del passo maratona che stavo correndo. peccato che sia la fine dell’anno, non vedo l’ora di vedere cosa possiamo fare nell’ultima gara dell’anno “.
Alessandro Lupino: “Il mio ginocchio sta di nuovo molto meglio dopo due settimane di riposo, ma ovviamente mi mancava un po ‘di guida e la sabbia è sempre difficile per un italiano, quindi sono rimasto abbastanza soddisfatto dei risultati. Passerò molto tempo ad esercitarmi con la squadra nella sabbia quest’inverno per migliorare la mia tecnica e hai visto la mia partenza nella prima gara? Ho quasi fatto holeshot e questo è molto positivo per il futuro. Non vedo davvero l’ora di concludere la stagione con una nota alta al GP di casa ad Imola. ”

MXGP
Jeffrey Herlings and Tony Cairoli:
Max Anstie: “I’ve been working hard during the last few GPs to get to the point where I am right now and it feels good to be able to battle for the podium. I’m feeling better and better. I’ve had some good races and some not so good races over the last couple of months but now it seems that everything comes together and I am able to show my speed. This weekend I had some good battles and one of them was with Glenn [Coldenhoff] for third in the last moto. At first I didn’t know if I had to beat him to get on the podium or not, so I was doing my best to make this pass. Once my pit crew told me that fourth was enough to get that podium result, I was able to relax and ride my own pace. It feels nice to be up on the box in this tough category.”
MX2
Jorge Prado: “First of all congrats to Jeffrey, he did a great job this season. My weekend went pretty well and the Qualification Heat win gave me some good confidence. Two moto wins: it was a good day. I’ve always done quite well here and have always been on the podium. I think the track just suits my style of riding and I had good starts, which meant I could enjoy myself. I think I only need to finish 15-16th for the title now but I don’t want to finish 15th-16th! I will try to do my best as always. I have been working hard all season and will keep on doing the same in the last round.”
Thomas Covington: “The weekend didn’t start that well but I managed to turn things around. I had a crash in the Qualifying Race and put a hole on my radiator, so I was not able to finish the race. I had to start both final motos from the complete outside and with the way the starting gates are angled it seemed kind of impossible to get a good start. Nevertheless, I did my best out of the gates in both motos and got some good speed to be inside the top three in the first corner. After that, I did my best to keep it on two wheels. The track has been really sketchy over the weekend and it was crucial to stay out of trouble. I felt like I rode a little bit on the safe side in moto one, but then in the second moto I had to dig deep. It’s good to have the whole Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team up on the podium this weekend.”
Thomas Kjer-Olsen: “My riding was good over the weekend. I had a good feeling in both motos, but I made a small mistake in the final race and had a fall. I wasn’t satisfied with my performance during the Qualifying Race, but I knew that once the racing got started I could be up front and battle. I got two good starts and felt that I was riding great. I am happy to be back on the podium for the second GP in a row. I’m happy about my weekend here in The Netherlands and our eyes are now set to the big final in Italy in two weeks time.”
OTHER RIDERS
Pauls Jonass: “Normally I like sand a lot but since I had the crash in Turkey with Jorge I damaged the ligaments in my knee and in the last two weeks I couldn’t do much. I think I went cycling three times and tried to ride once but couldn’t do anything. Today it was not too bad because I took some painkillers but I didn’t have much strength in my legs. After two weeks lying on the couch I knew I wouldn’t be able to do much: it is difficult to get into good shape but it is so easy to lose it! It is disappointing and upsetting to lose points. Jorge just needs four now…but it is still not over until it’s over.”
Calvin Vlaanderen: Assen is over and I’m actually leaving in a happy mood, even though I’m obviously a little disappointed at not finishing on the podium. Fourth overall is not something we can complain about. I struggled a little to find the rhythm in the first race as I was chasing Ben Watson; I tried to pass him, but I simply couldn’t make it stick. Seeing Jeffrey Herlings winning the title gave me a lot of motivation heading into race two; I had good speed and flow so I was happy to finish second. I would like to thank the team and my crew especially, and now we can get ready for the final GP at Imola!
Tim Gajser: It was a solid weekend overall. We definitely have to do some more work on the sand for next year – even though we improved a lot from Lommel. We managed to close the gap a little to Desalle, even though with only one round left there are still quite a lot of points between us. We get these points and look forward to Imola: it’s a hard-pack track and from what I’ve seen it looks quite good, so I can’t wait to try it out! The team has been spot on as usual so a big thank you to them!
Gautier Paulin: “My pace was good but I struggled with my starts and that made my life a lot harder. Not getting good starts and having to come from the back of the pack is always hard, but in this track it seemed to be even harder. In the opening moto I was outside the top-20 in the first laps and managed to get back to seventh. Then in moto two, I got eighth following another bad start and this was really the best I could do. I am a little bit disappointed to be honest, as I felt good on my bike throughout the weekend and I really wanted to do well. It’s onwards and upwards from here and we are now heading to the big final in Italy.”
Clement Desalle: « It was a strange weekend for me, as I have some bad memories from last year but I also won here in 2016! We worked with the team on sandy tracks after Turkey, and we made some little improvements to the setup so that’s good for the future. My first start wasn’t too bad, but in the first two corners I nearly crashed and hit another rider with my elbow. I was outside the top fifteen but I came back to seventh before I had a small technical issue in the last ten minutes and couldn’t keep the same rhythm so I lost two positions to finish ninth. My second start was better; I was seventh and kept that position until the end; at one stage I was close to the sixth place, but a lapper didn’t move over and cost me contact. I will continue to work hard; I’m still third in the championship but it’s not yet completely secure and I want this podium in the final standings. »
Shaun Simpson: “I feel good. I am slightly disappointed that I didn’t finish inside the top-five. I wanted it, the team wanted it and Jeremy has been wanting it all year, but unfortunately we couldn’t get it done. I am a little bit disappointed on that front, but otherwise it’s been the best weekend I have had all year. I showed some good speed yesterday, and even today but I crashed in every race this weekend. I think the mistakes definitely cost me the first race where I could have finish fourth. In the second race, my speed was good but it just wasn’t enough. I needed more ‘sprint’ speed, rather than the marathon pace I was running. Stuff to work on, just a shame it’s the end of the year. I look forward to seeing what we can do in the last race of the year.”
Alessandro Lupino: “My knee is much better again after two weeks rest, but of course I missed riding a little and sand is always difficult for an Italian so I was pretty satisfied with the results. I will be spending a lot of time practising with the team in the sand this winter to improve my technique. And did you see my start in the first race? I nearly holeshot and that is very positive for the future. I am really looking forward to ending the season on a high note at my home GP in Imola.”
