GP of Bulgaria – Sevlievo – Rider Comments
GP of Bulgaria nel tracciato storico con sali scendi naturali per questo evento, a nostro avviso bello e tecnico, lavorato bene e segnato per farlo diventare infernale e creare un weekend di gare dove le lotte si sono concluse, davanti Jeffrey Herlings con un altra schiacciante doppietta che lo porta a 73 punti di vantaggio e 81 GP vinti in carriera, Tony Cairoli combatte con gli infortuni, anche se lui dice che qui non era un grosso problema il ginocchio, secondo in gara 2 con ottimi tempi ma rimane fuori da podio a causa di gara 1, molto bene Gajser e Desalle ancora sul podio e Febvre per un pelo!! MX2 si vede brillare ancora Prado che chiude gara 1 secondo dientro Jonass, ma in gara 2 parte al comando e tiene la leadership vista anche la caduta di Pauls che comunque lo porta a perdere un solo punto in campionato, terzo rivediamo sul podio Lawrence con belle prestazioni!!

RIDERS MXGP PODIO
Jeffrey Herlings: “Penso che questo sia uno dei circuiti più belli … ma non proprio uno dei miei preferiti con il terreno duro e scivoloso. Penso che Youthstream e i ragazzi abbiano fatto un ottimo lavoro con la preparazione, ma è stato difficile con le alte temperature. Abbiamo avuto un fantastico fine settimana: vincere le qualifiche ed entrambe le manche. È tutto ciò che posso chiedere. È troppo presto per parlare del titolo, ma si sta decisamente avvicinando. Tutto può ancora accadere. Aspetteremo e vedremo, ma oggi abbiamo fatto una buona cosa per il campionato e ora siamo in vantaggio di 73 punti “.
Tim Gajser: Sono davvero felice di essere tornato sul podio dopo un paio di GP. Oggi mi sentivo bene: abbiamo apportato alcune modifiche al set up della moto durante il fine settimana e oggi è stato ripagato. Abbiamo fatto due buone partenze e la mia guida è stata buona, quindi sono felice. Certo, dovremo lavorare di più perché ci sono ancora tre Gran Premi e vogliamo finire la stagione su una nota alta. Vorrei ringraziare la squadra come al solito perché hanno lavorato davvero alla grande.
Clément Desalle: “E ‘bello essere coerenti con un altro podio, sono un po’ deluso da alcuni errori che ho fatto, ma ho ancora ottenuto il podio, ora è importante rimanere coerenti negli ultimi tre GP per mantenere il mio terzo posto nella classifica del campionato. ”
RIDERS MX2 PODIO
Jorge Prado: “Questa pista mi piace molto, anche se su questo tipo di terreno, molto compatto, credo di dover ancora migliorare. Qui c’erano molte salite e discese e la pista, bagnata artificialmente, nei primi giri era insidiosa. E ’stato divertente. Pauls (Jonass) ha guidato molto bene per tutto il weekend ed era molto veloce; in gara uno nel finale ho cercato di riprenderlo ma è stato bravo. In gara due è scivolato alla fine del primo giro quando era alle mie spalle e io ho tenuto comunque alta la concentrazione per tutta la manche. Nel finale Lawrence si è avvicinato e ho dovuto spingere di nuovo negli ultimi due giri. E ’stata una buona gara ed è arrivata la quinta vittoria di fila!”
Pauls Jonass: “Mi sentivo bene tutto il weekend e mi piace molto questa pista. Nella prima manche sono riuscito a superare Jorge a metà gara e ho potuto controllare il distacco. Ero vicino a lui all’inizio della seconda manche e ho preso il mio tempo, ma al secondo o terzo giro mi è partita la ruota anteriore scivolando e ho piegato un po ‘la moto, la leva della frizione era abbassata ed era strano guidare. Mi ci è voluto un po ‘per riprendere il ritmo e ho potuto spingere di nuovo negli ultimi dieci minuti, ma è stato sufficiente per il terzo posto e non per l’asoluta. Siamo stati vicini molte volte ed è passato molto tempo da quando sono salito sul gradino più alto del podio. Sono davvero motivato ad arrivarci. Abbiamo ancora tre gare e credo che Jorge abbia un vantaggio di trenta punti. Niente è finito, può succedere di tutto e combatteremo fino alla fine. ”

Tony Cairoli: “Il ginocchio non è ancora a posto, ma su questa pista non è stato un grosso problema. Però in gara uno soprattutto nei primi giri della gara, con pista bagnata, ho avuto più attenzione ad evitare errori e dopo un’ottima partenza ho perso qualche posizione, ma ero nel gruppo dei primi. Poi purtroppo Anstie è caduto proprio davanti a me e sono rimasto bloccato un po’ dalla sua moto e poi ho dovuto rimontare. In gara due ho segnato l’holeshot nel secondo e poi quando Jeffrey mi ha passato l’ho seguito ed abbiamo avuto un buon ritmo, lasciando distanti gli altri, anche se negli ultimi dieci minuti ho rallentato un po’. Spero che il ginocchio non mi dia problemi, ma sono capitati questi tre GP di fila e non è facile; di certo non posso allenarmi ancora”.
Julien Lieber: “Ho visto già ieri che sto tornando alla velocità che avevo prima delle mie ferite e ho fatto alcuni buoni passaggi nella prima gara fino al settimo posto. Avevo anche la stessa velocità dei ragazzi davanti a me, ma non è stato facile passare qui, Gajser mi ha colpito nel primo turno di gara due e poi ho avuto un grosso incidente in fondo alla pista, ho preso il piede dalla pedana, non ho potuto frenare e sono andato oltre la sponda. Sono un po ‘frustrato per non aver ottenuto il risultato che meritavo, ma prenderò i punti positivi della mia corsa in Turchia la prossima settimana. ”
Tommy Searle: “Era solo una gara strana: hanno dovuto innaffiare la pista e alcuni posti erano davvero scivolosi, mi sono schiantato in una carreggia in fondo a una discesa, la manopola dell’acceleratore ei miei guanti erano coperti di fango Era circa il terzo giro prima e la mia mano scivolava sull’impugnatura, oggi sono arrivato dall’ultima posizione alla tredicesima nella prima manche prima che una roccia colpisse i miei occhiali e la lente saltasse fuori così non potevo rischiare di avvicinarmi troppo a nessuno. Sono davvero felice con l’ottavo nella seconda gara, questa volta sono partito meglio e sono dietro a Paulin, ho commesso l’errore troppe volte quest’anno di scivolare nel suo ritmo e altri mi hanno passato ma Ho fatto un passaggio veloce su di lui questa volta. ”
Alessandro Lupino: “Ho avuto grandi aspettative per questo weekend e l’ottavo posto nelle prove cronometrate ha confermato che avevo una buona velocità. Tutto è andato storto nel primo giro della gara di qualifica quando ho superato Seewer per il sesto posto e mi sono piegato il ginocchio scivolando. Ho subito sentito dolore al ginocchio destro, pensavo di poterlo gestire in un primo momento, ma dopo un altro giro ero in agonia e dovevo rientrare ai box. Era dolorante ma ho stretto i denti e sono stato premiato con il dodicesimo posto in ogni gara. ”
Romain Febvre: “Il mio fine settimana è iniziato bene, ieri ho avuto una buona velocità, ma ho perso le partenze e questa pista è stata molto dura per superare. La velocità di tutti era molto ravvicinata ed era difficile fare la differenza sugli altri ragazzi. Molto secco con una scelta di linee limitata, ho avuto un piccolo incidente nella seconda gara e ho cercato di dare il 100% per ritornare, sono un po ‘deluso dal risultato, soprattutto per il campionato, ma non vedo l’ora del prossimo fine settimana. ”
Jeremy Van Horebeek: “Mi sono sentito meglio questo fine settimana: la prima manche ho fatto dei buoni passaggi per arrivare in sesta posizione, e poi sono riuscito a finire lì, che dopo le ultime settimane è un miglioramento, ma poi nell’ultima gara è stata solo una sfortuna che un altro pilota mi colpisse e io non potevo farci niente, sono andato giù e sono riuscito a tornare al tredicesimo, ma questa pista è stata abbastanza difficile per passare.
Jeremy Seewer: “Una pista come questa, per me, è la più dura in cui gareggiare nella classe MXGP. Mi sentivo come se stessi guidando bene e buona velocità, ma è stato davvero difficile, specialmente con le mie partenze. il posto non è quello che voglio, ma mi sentivo bene e mi sono divertito. Oggi tutti avevano la stessa velocità, quindi era una di quelle tracce in cui avevi bisogno di una buona partenza, ma continuerò a lavorare, so di cosa ho bisogno per migliorare e non vedo l’ora di vedere cosa porterà il prossimo weekend. ”
Thomas Kjer-Olsen:“È stato un GP molto duro, e ho fatto del mio meglio per finirlo bene. In Gara1 sono partito bene e sono entrato subito nei primi cinque. Il passo nei primi due giri era altissimo. Mi sono portato in quarta posizione dietro a Thomas [Covington] riuscendo poi a salire terzo. È stata una bella gara e un ottimo risultato. In Gara2 Thomas mi è caduto davanti proprio dopo la partenza, e non c’è stato modo di evitarlo. Dopo essere ripartito, sapevo di dover lavorare duro e questo è quel che ho fatto. Ho fatto molti sorpassi e sono riuscito ad arrivare quinto al traguardo. Nel complesso sono piuttosto soddisfatto di questi risultati: la mia velocità era buona, e dopo la caduta in Gara2 ho dato davvero tutto.”
Thomas Covington:“Il weekend era iniziato benissimo con la vittoria nella manche di qualificazione sabato. Domenica volevo mantenere lo slancio, ma in Gara1 mi è mancata un po’ di intensità, e mi sono ritrovato quarto al traguardo. Poi in Gara2 ho sbattuto contro una grossa zolla di terra alla prima curva, perdendo l’anteriore. Sono caduto e ho perso un sacco di tempo. Nel complesso è stato un GP difficile, ma guardiamo avanti. Abbiamo nel mirino il GP di Turchia ora, dove conto di fare un risultato migliore.”
Gautier Paulin:“Stiamo continuando a lavorare con l’obiettivo di chiudere la stagione in modo positivo. In Bulgaria ho fatto un paio di belle lotte per le posizioni di vertice: in Gara1 sono partito discretamente per poi risalire da ottavo a quinto al traguardo. Ero soddisfatto e mi aspettavo molto da Gara2. Qui però non sono partito bene e ho dovuto spingere al massimo per conquistare un posto nella top 10. La moto funziona alla perfezione, e ho passato tutta la manche cercando le linee migliori: tant’è che ho fatto segnare i tempi più bassi verso la fine. Adesso è già ora di partire per la Turchia.”
Max Anstie:“Nonostante le condizioni non facili della pista, mi sentivo bene. In Gara1 ero posizionato bene nel primo giro, ma purtroppo sono caduto piegando il manubrio. Ho fatto di tutto per proseguire, ma è stato impossibile. In Gara2 sono partito bene risalendo fino al sesto posto finale. Nonostante la polvere e il fondo scivoloso, ho sentito che la mia velocità c’era, specialmente in Gara2. Ora andiamo in Turchia, e sarà per me un’altra occasione di dimostrare il mio valore.”

MXGP
Jeffrey Herlings: “I think this is one of the most beautiful tracks…but not really one of my favourites with the hard and slick ground. I think Youthstream and the guys did a great job with preparation but it was tough with the high temperatures. We had an awesome weekend: winning Qualifying and both motos. It is all I can ask for. It is too early to talk about the title but it is definitely getting closer. Anything can happen still. We’ll wait and see but today we did a good thing for the championship and we’re leading by 73 points now.”
Tim Gajser: I’m really happy to be back on the podium after a couple of GPs. I was feeling good today: we made some changes to the bike set-up during the weekend and it paid off today. We had two good starts and my riding was good, so I’m happy. Of course, we will have to work harder because there are still three Grands Prix left and we want to finish the season on a high note. I would like to thank the team as usual because they have worked really great.
Clément Desalle: “It’s good to be consistent with another podium. I’m a little disappointed with a few mistakes which I made, but I still got the podium. Now it’s important to stay consistent through the last three GPs to maintain my third place in the championship standings.”
MX2
Prado: “This track could be one of my favourites. I really like the design, even if I am not the fastest on this type of surface. I enjoyed it a lot and it was something totally different to what we had last week when there was no elevation. Here there were a lot of uphills and downhills. It was fun and really challenging. Pauls was riding really good all weekend long. He was pushing all the way to the end of the first moto and I could catch him a little bit but I knew I could win the GP in the second moto. The watering meant you really had to be careful where you rode and the lines you took: you don’t want to fall on the first laps and lose a lot of positions. Pauls was behind me so I kinda had to push while being careful at the same time! He had the bad luck to crash and that could have happened to me because there was a lot of water. With Pauls gone I could really concentrate on my riding and did not want to make a mistake. Hunter came close and I had to push again in the last two laps. It was a good race: sometimes the fastest guy doesn’t always win! Three races, six motos and a lot of racing to go.”
Jonass: “I was feeling good all weekend and I really like this track. In the first moto I managed to pass Jorge midway through the race and could control the gap. I was close to him at the start of the second moto and took my time but on the second or third lap I just washed the front [wheel] and bent the bike a bit, the clutch lever was down and it was strange to ride. It took me a while to get back in the rhythm and I could push again in the last ten minutes but it was only good enough for third place and not the overall. We have been close many times and it is a long time since I’ve been on the top of the podium. I’m really motivated to get there. We still have three races left and I think Jorge has a thirty point lead. Nothing is over, everything can happen and we’ll fight until the end.”
Hunter Lawrence: ….waiting…
OTHER RIDERS
Cairoli: “The knee was not a big problem but it still affects me, especially in the first laps of the race when they have watered the track and I was scared to slip away and had to put my foot down quite a lot. I was a little bit too careful in the first moto and then Anstie crashed in front of me and I was stuck a little bit. On this track it is very difficult to come through the pack. I was not really pumped with the first moto. I made a holeshot in the second one. Jeffrey passed me and I tried to follow him but he is very strong at the moment for the entire race and I am missing some training from Indonesia because of my hand and then the knee so the last ten minutes it was very difficult to stay close. Anyway, it was a very nice second moto so I am quite happy. Hopefully the knee will not bother me for the next race and I can start the next rounds with a free mind and no injury problems.”
Julien Lieber: “I saw already yesterday that I am getting back to the speed I had before my injuries and I made some good passes in the first race to finish seventh. I also had the same speed as the guys ahead of me, but it wasn’t easy to pass here. Gajser hit me in the first turn of race two and then I had a big crash at the back of the track. I caught my foot in the frame; I couldn’t brake and went over the bank into the fence. I’m a little frustrated not to have got the result I deserved, but I will take the positive points of my riding to Turkey next week.”
Tommy Searle: “It was just one of those things yesterday. They had to water the track and some places were really slippery; I crashed in a rut at the bottom of a hill. The throttle grip and my gloves were covered in mud and it was about the third lap before my hand was not slipping on the grip anymore. Today I came from last to thirteenth in the first GP moto before a rock hit my goggles and the lens popped out so I couldn’t risk getting too close to anyone after that. I’m really happy with eighth in the second race; I got a better start this time and was behind Paulin. I’ve made the mistake too many times this year of slipping into his rhythm and other guys have passed me but I made a quick pass on him this time.”
Alessandro Lupino: “I had great expectations for this weekend and eighth place in the timed practice confirmed that I had good speed. It all went wrong on the first lap of the qualifying race when I passed Seewer for sixth and I twisted my knee on a slippery patch. I immediately felt pain in my right knee; I thought I could handle it at first, but after one more lap I was in agony and had to pull into the pits. Today was all about riding sensibly to protect my knee. I was in pain but I gritted my teeth and was rewarded with twelfth in each race.”
Romain Febvre: “My weekend started good. I had good speed yesterday, but I missed the starts and this track was very tough to pass on. Everyone’s speed was really close and it was difficult to make a difference on the other guys. It was very dry with limited line choice. I had a small crash in the second race, and I just tried to give 100% to come back. I am a little bit disappointed with the result, especially for the championship, but I will just look forward to next weekend.”
Jeremy Van Horebeek: “I felt better this weekend. The first moto I made some good passes to get up into sixth, and then I managed to finish there, which after the last few weeks, is an improvement, but then in the last race it was just my luck that I had another rider hit me and I couldn’t do anything about it. I went down and managed to come back to thirteenth, but this track was quite difficult to pass on. On to the next one.”
Jeremy Seewer: “A track like this, for me, is the toughest to race the MXGP class on. I feel like I am riding well and I have good speed but it was really hard especially with my starts letting me down today. Two tenth place finishes is not what I want, but I felt good and I had fun. Everyone had the same speed today, so it was one of those tracks where you needed a good start, but I will keep working, I know what I need to improve and I look forward to seeing what next weekend will bring.”
Thomas Covington: “The weekend started off really well with me getting the Qualifying Race win on Saturday. Then during the final motos on Sunday I was looking forward to keeping that same momentum going. In the first moto I was lacking a bit of intensity so found myself in fourth position at the chequered flag. Then in moto two I hit a big piece of dirt in the first corner and immediately lost my front wheel. I ended up crashing and losing a lot of time. Overall, it was a tough weekend but we are moving forward. Our eyes are set on next week’s Turkish GP now and I’m hoping for a better overall result there.”
Gautier Paulin: “We keep on working with the goal to wrap up the season on a positive note. In Bulgaria I had some good battles for the top spots. In the opening moto I got a decent start and fought my way from eighth to fifth at the line. I was happy with my riding and was looking forward to moto two. In the second race my start was not that good and had to push hard to secure a spot inside the top-10. I was searching for the best lines throughout the moto and I ended up posting my best lap times close to its end. The bike is working great at the moment and we are now off to Turkey next weekend.”
Max Anstie: “I felt good despite the treacherous track conditions. In the opening moto I had a good position in the opening lap, but unfortunately, I crashed and bent my handlebars. I did my best to keep going but it was impossible to finish the moto. In moto two I got a good start and battled my way to sixth at the line. Despite the slippery conditions and the dust, I felt that my speed was where it needed to be especially in the second moto. We’re now heading to Turkey and it’s going to be another opportunity for me to show what I’m capable of.”
