L’OLANDA ANNUNCIA IL TEAM MOTOCROSS of NATIONS 2018!
Nessuna sorpresa a capo del Team Olandese, poiché l’attuale leader del campionato MXGP, Jeffrey Herlings (MXGP), rappresenterà gli olandesi a RedBud tra il 6 e il 7 ottobre. Il compagno di team e veterano MXoN Glenn Coldenhoff (Open) è stato nominato per il team.
La scelta che ha generato stupore arriva dalla MX2 ed è il nativo sudafricano Calvin Vlaanderen. Ovviamente sono nate polemiche tra Vlaanderen, che possiede un passaporto olandese e una licenza olandese e il Motosport in Sud Africa. Secondo un’intervista fatta a Vlaanderen e che correva fino a pochi GP fa con sigla Sudafricana, non abbia mai ricevuto aiuti, sotto un pezzo dell’intervista.
“Non mi ha mai aiutato nella mia carriera, mai una volta. Ora sono davvero orgoglioso di rappresentare il Sudafrica e di metterli sul gradino più alto del podio e anche sui podi precedenti. Quando ho sentito che si sono lamentati, perché non ho chiesto il permesso di guidare con la bandiera, è semplicemente ridicolo. Sono davvero incazzato a riguardo. Sono ovviamente ancora sudafricano e sono orgoglioso di essere sudafricano, ma sono anche mezzo olandese e ora sono anche orgoglioso di essere mezzo olandese “.
Con Vlaanderen nella squadra, gli olandesi presentano tre forti piloti diretti a RedBud. L’Olanda, è arrivata seconda classificata in Francia sia nel 2016 che nel 2017. Hanno concluso con un punto dietro ai francesi nel 2016.

No surprises at the top, as current MXGP points leader Jeffrey Herlings will represent the Dutch at RedBud on October 6-7. Herlings’ Red Bull KTM teammate, and veteran MXoN participate, Glenn Coldenhoff was also named to the team.
The surprise selection comes in MX2. South African native Calvin Vlaanderen has been named in the MX2 spot. Controversy arose earlier this year between Vlaanderen, who holds a Dutch passport and a Dutch license, and Motosport South Africa. According to an interview Vlaanderen conducted, the MSA complained to Youthstream about Vlaanderen having a South African flag. He told that MSA has never helped him.
“MSA have never helped me in my career, never once. Now I am really proud to represent South Africa and to put them on the top step of the podium and also on the podiums before that. When I hear that they complained, because I did not ask them for permission to ride with the flag, that is just ridiculous. I am really pissed off about it. I am obviously still a South African and I am proud to be South African, but I am also half Dutch and now I am also proud to be half Dutch.”
With Vlaanderen on the team, the Dutch feature three strong riders heading into RedBud. Behind Herlings’ brilliant performances, The Netherlands finished runner-up to France in both 2016 and 2017. They finished a single point behind the French in 2016.
