HRC keeping options open for 2019

MXGP is entering the first phases of ‘silly season’ for 2019 and beyond with saddles in Husqvarna (2) and Yamaha (1) factory teams to be confirmed and potentially a CRF450RW with Team HRC.

2016 MXGP World Champion Tim Gajser has been competing alone in the MXGP set-up this year after Brian Bogers’ foot injury and the reoccurring problem has sidelined the Dutchman for the better part of nine months. The Japanese/Italian crew are hoping that Bogers can make his debut both for the brand and in the MXGP category before the end of the 2018 campaign that is now at the halfway stage.

Bogers’ complex ailment has led to debate that Honda would consider a three-rider roster for 2019 and athletes like Max Anstie and Glenn Coldenhoff have already been connected. An HRC spokesperson commented that the current line-up of Gajser, Bogers and Calvin Vlaanderen in MX2 are already contracted but admitted that meetings are on-going – particularly during the month of June – and the manufacturer’s strategy could change for the future.
