GP della Germania – Teutschenthal – Rider Comments
GP di Germania nel tracciato di Teutschenthal, un altro weekend di gare, le lotte si sono concluse e in molti credevano ad un GP totalmente diverso viste le prestazioni passate del nostro Tony Cairoli, ma qui in Germania Herlings è stato ancora una volta superbo, guidando in maniera sicura e veloce eliminando ogni tipo di attacco da parte degli avversari, nella MX2 Prado beffa Jonass che vince gara 1 ma non gara 2, sul podio anche Vlaanderen!

RIDERS MXGP PODIO
Jeffrey Herlings: “Il buon inizio è di nuovo servito e la mia guida è stata molto buona in entrambe le manche. Non posso chiedere di più che guidare ogni singolo giro questo weekend. Sono davvero contento ed è un weekend da sogno. Questa pista non è una delle mie preferite – anche se non è interessante gran parte del circuito – ma l’hanno preparata meglio di ieri e c’erano altre linee ed era un po ‘più rovinata. Alla prossima! ”
Tim Gajser: Siamo contenti di ciò che abbiamo realizzato questo fine settimana. Essere sul podio è sempre una grande emozione; abbiamo ancora dodici round quindi l’obiettivo è continuare a costruire slancio e cercare di mantenerlo il più alto possibile. Mi è piaciuto guidare la mia Honda per tutto il weekend e sono riuscito a mantenere un ritmo costante fino alla bandiera a scacchi, il che è un ottimo segnale. Ero molto più rilassato, fiducioso e a mio agio in pista più che in Lettonia: è per questo che eravamo quinti lì, e secondi qui! Ora andiamo a casa, ci alleniamo duramente e ci prepariamo per Matterley Basin, che è una pista che amo davvero.
Gautier Paulin: “È stato un ottimo weekend. Due holeshot e due terzi posti su una pista così rovinata mi danno una bella iniezione di fiducia per le prossime gare. Abbiamo lavorato moltissimo con la squadra, e i due holeshot mostrano i progressi fatti. In entrambe le manche ho avuto una buona velocità e sono riuscito a rintuzzare gli attacchi dalle spalle. Sabato in qualifica una pietra mi ha colpito la schiena e oggi ero dolorante, ma la FC 450 ha funzionato alla grande anche in condizioni difficili, e devo ringraziare il mio team per questo. I risultati qui in Germania mostrano che ci stiamo muovendo nella direzione giusta.”
RIDERS MX2 PODIO
Prado: “La prima manche ho ottenuto l’holeshot ma ho deciso di andare nei canali interni alla seconda curva ed erano profondi e fangosi. Pauls è uscito fuori e mi ha passato e da quel momento ero dietro di lui per tutta la manche e ho cercato di fare il passaggio. Non riuscivo a trovare un posto e stavo pensando ad ogni giro “dove posso fare questo?” E cercare nuove linee ma è diventato troppo tardi. E ‘stato difficile, e sapevo che l’inizio sarebbe stato così importante. Ho toccato qualcosa con la mia ruota anteriore nella seconda manche e mi sono imbattuto in Pauls un po ‘fuori dal cancello. Abbiamo combattuto fino alla prima curva e ho preso l’interno. Potevo guidare ogni giro. Quindi sono felice. Il divario punti non è così grande e stiamo ancora migliorando “.
Jonass: “Mi sento bene; non ha perso nulla, non ha guadagnato nulla. Volevo il gradino più alto del podio, ma ho sempre la tendenza a lottare un po ‘su questa pista. Quella prima manche è stata dura perché Jorge ha sempre spinto e poi nella seconda manche ha tirato un po ‘di margine e non riuscivo a chiuderlo. Stava guidando davvero bene questo fine settimana. Torneremo a casa e lavoreremo su alcune cose e so cosa dobbiamo fare “.
Calvin Vlaanderen: è stata una grande giornata. Sono molto felice di essere sul podio per la prima volta in questa stagione. Abbiamo fatto due buone manche con buone partenze, buona guida e buona velocità; la moto funzionava perfettamente, quindi grazie al team per l’ottimo lavoro. È bello mettere la squadra per la prima volta sul podio, e spero che d’ora in poi sarò in grado di rifarlo ancora molte volte.
ALTRI COMMENTI PILOTI
Antonio Cairoli: “”Oggi è stata una gara molto strana; normalmente si sviluppa un po ‘durante la manche…. Jeffrey ha avuto due buone partenze ed è stato libero di fare una buona gara e ritmo. Quando sei nel branco è come una guerra: su questa pista tutti tagliavano linee e cercavano di passare e c’erano incidenti.. Non so cosa sia realmente successo con le partenze. Dobbiamo controllare. Non è stato un weekend dei migliori. Avevo un buon feeling con la pista ieri ma oggi, dopo due partenze complicate, è stato molto difficile tentare di recuperare; poteva andare senz’altro meglio ma le prime cinque posizioni di gara sono rimaste praticamente congelate dal primo all’ultimo giro. Purtroppo le mie partenze oggi non sono state all’altezza del mio standard e qui, quando sei nelle retrovie, è quasi una guerra ed è molto difficile passare chiunque. In entrambe le manche ero dietro Desalle, che è uno dei piloti più difficili da passare in assoluto e su questa pista, con questo tipo di canali è stato praticamente impossibile. Ho provato a sferrare l’attacco in più di un occasione ma mi sono arrivati addosso quintali di sassi, sia sul corpo che sulla moto, così mi sono dovuto accontentare di limitare i danni il più possibile. Ora torniamo a casa ad allenarci duramente, come sempre, aspettando di andare a Matterley Basin tra due settimane.”
Romain Febvre: Sono arrivato in questo fine settimana con un obiettivo di segnare un massimo di punti perché il mio braccio era ancora piuttosto blu e rigido, e il risultato è più che positivo. Ho fatto due belle gare dove ho fatto dei buoni passaggi e ho avuto una buona velocità in quarta. Avrei potuto salire sul podio. Volevo davvero essere lassù ma quando ho fatto un ultimo attacco su Paulin sono caduto nei solchi di un salto. La moto era piuttosto piegata e mi sono fatto male al piede, ma sono riuscito a risparmiare molti punti gareggiando questo weekend, soprattutto con il braccio “.
Clement Desalle: “Ieri ho avuto una brutta prova di qualifica dopo che sono caduto nella seconda curva, e poi di nuovo in gara per finire solo al ventunesimo. Sappiamo che la posizione al gate è davvero importante qui, e devo ammettere che non ho dormito così bene la scorsa notte mentre cercavo di trovare una soluzione. Alla fine, ho fatto due buone partenze per finire le gare quinto e quarto. Era uno scenario simile in entrambe le gare; Ero tra il sesto e il settimo nelle prime curve e sono andato subito avanti per avanzare al quinto e quarto posto nelle gare, difendendo la mia posizione in ogni gara contro Cairoli. Era molto importante stare su due ruote qui. ”
Coldenhoff: “Sono stato nella media penso oggi. Sapevo di venire a questo GP e che le partenze erano così importanti e ieri abbiamo visto che tutti erano così vicini l’uno all’altro in termini di velocità. Ho incasinato la mia partenza completamente nella prima manche perché qualcuno si muoveva vicino a me e ci è voluto molto tempo prima che il cancello si fermasse. Ho fatto un buon primo giro e sono tornato a casa in nona posizione. I primi giri della seconda manche erano pazzeschi; Penso di essere stato passato tre volte ma poi ho anche superato altri ragazzi. E ‘stato molto intenso. Mi sono sentito bene in gara ma ho anche avuto un po ‘di “momenti difficili”, quindi quando ho visto che avevo un gap oltre il settimo, l’ho portato a casa sano e salvo. ”
Michele Cervellin: “E’ stato un weekend positivo, si sapeva già prima della partenza che questa sarebbe stata una pista amica e adatta alle mie caratteristiche e così è stato. Mi sono trovato bene durante tutti i turni di prova ed un sesto posto assoluto è un ottimo risultato, frutto del lavoro fatto con la squadra. Lavoriamo tutti nella stessa direzione, cercando di migliorarci gara dopo gara. Ora ci prepariamo bene per le prossime, a cominciare dalla gara di Italiano di domenica prossima, per arrivare in Inghilterra in forma per fare un altro passo in avanti, cosa che è alla nostra portata. Ringrazio il team per tutti gli sforzi che stanno facendo per me e per il lavoro che stiamo facendo insieme.”
Max Anstie:“Sto continuando a lavorare e a dare il massimo per tornare al 100%. In Germania non sono riuscito a posizionarmi al meglio dopo le partenze, ed è stato difficile recuperare. Ma ho fatto del mio meglio, e spero che i risultati inizino ad arrivare. Dopo aver saltato qualche GP dopo la commozione cerebrale, sento di non essermi ancora ripreso del tutto. Ma sono contento di aver corso due buone manche qui in Germania, e continuerò a lavorare per migliorarmi.”
Jeremy Seewer: “Mi sento sempre bene qui a Teutschenthal, ho molti bei ricordi qui e molti grandi fan, sono grato a loro, oggi è stato davvero frustrante per me, le mie partenze non erano buone e sono caduto in entrambe le gare ma sono comunque riuscito a finire nella Top-10, quindi è positivo e la mia velocità è OK. È stato un weekend molto frustrante, non ho potuto mettere insieme il puzzle ma sono OK, è una motivazione in più per l’Inghilterra e la Francia. ”
Thomas Kjer-Olsen:“Ho faticato a trovare un buon passo in pista, e la caduta in Gara1 ha reso tutto più difficile. Ero sesto e dopo un salto mi sono toccato con un altro pilota, e siamo caduti entrambi. Mi sono rialzato subito ma non ho più ritrovato il ritmo. In Gara2 sono partito molto meglio e mi sentivo più a posto: ho fatto alcune belle battaglie e ho tagliato il traguardo quinto. Forse non è stato il nostro miglior weekend in termini di risultati, ma prendiamo quello che viene e guardiamo avanti.”
Thomas Covington:“Nonostante un po’ di sfortuna, qui in Germania la mia velocità è stata buona. In Gara1 sono rimasto coinvolto in una caduta al primo giro e ho perso un po’ di tempo. Poi ho rimontato fino a tredicesimo, il meglio che sia riuscito a fare. Nell’altra manche non sono partito bene, e ho finito per cadere alla prima curva. Di fatto sono partito con mezzo giro di ritardo dal gruppo di testa, e ho lentamente recuperato fino al diciassettesimo posto. La moto è stata fantastica per tutto il weekend, e con un po’ di fortuna in più i risultati avrebbero potuto essere molto migliori. Ma ora si torna al lavoro, e spero di far meglio la prossima volta.”

MXGP
Herlings: “Good starts again and my riding was really good both motos. I cannot ask for more than leading every single lap this weekend. I’m really pleased and it’s a bit of a dream weekend. This track is not one of my favourites – even if I don’t really mind most of the circuits – but they prepped it better than yesterday and there were some more lines and it was a bit rougher. Onto the next one!”
Tim Gajser: We are happy with what we achieved this weekend. Being on the podium is always a great feeling; we have twelve more rounds so now the goal is to continue building momentum and try to keep it as high as possible. I enjoyed riding my Honda throughout the whole weekend and I managed to maintain a consistently-fast pace up to the chequered flag, which is a very good sign. I was much more relaxed, confident and comfortable on track than in Latvia: this is why we were fifth there, and second here! Now we go home, train hard and get ready for Matterley Basin, which is a track I really love.
MX2
Prado: “The first moto I got the holeshot but decided to go to the inside ruts on the second corner and they were deep and muddy. Pauls went outside and passed me and from that moment I was behind him the whole moto and trying to make the pass. I just couldn’t find one spot and was thinking every lap ‘where can I do this?’ and look for new lines but it became too late. It was tough, and I knew the next start would be so important. I touched something with my front wheel in the second moto and came across into Pauls a little bit out of the gate. We kinda fought down to the first corner and I had the inside. I could lead every lap. So I’m happy. The points gap is not so big and we are still improving.”
Jonass: “I’m feeling good; didn’t lose anything, didn’t gain anything. I wanted the top step of the podium but I always tend to struggle a little bit on this track. That first moto was tough because Jorge was always pushing and then in the second moto he pulled a little gap and I just couldn’t close it. He was riding really well this weekend. We’ll go back home and work on a few things and I know what we need to do.”
Calvin Vlaanderen: It was a great day. I’m very happy to be on the podium for the first time this season. We had two solid motos with good starts, good riding and good speed; the bike was really working perfectly, so thanks to the team for the great job. It’s good to put the team for the first time in the box, and I hope from now on I’ll be able to do it again many more times.
OTHER RIDERS
Clement Desalle: “Yesterday I had a bad qualifying race as I crashed in the second corner, and then again later in the race to finish only twenty-first. We know that the position at the gate is really important here, and I must admit that I didn’t slept so well last night as I tried to find a solution. Finally, I got two good starts to finish the races fifth and fourth. It was a similar scenario in both races; I was between sixth and seventh in the first few corners and pushed straight away to advance to fifth and fourth in the races, defending my position in each race against Cairoli. It was very important to stay on two wheels here.”
Cairoli: “Today was a very strange race; normally it develops a bit during the moto but it seemed like if you crossed the finish line at the end of the first lap in the top five then you stayed there. Jeffrey had two good starts and he was free to make a good speed and rhythm. When you are in the pack it is like a war: on this track everyone was cutting lines and ruts and trying to pass and there were crashes. When it settled I was both times behind Desalle and he is one of the toughest to pass and the roost was very painful. I came close a few times but in the end just limited the damage. I don’t know what really happened with the starts. We need to check.”
Romain Febvre: I came into this weekend with a goal to score a maximum of points because my arm was still quite blue and stiff, and the result is more than positive. I had two good races where I made some good passes and had good speed in fourth. I could have got on the podium. I really wanted to be up there but when I made a final attach on Paulin I fell in the ruts on the landing of a jump. The bike was pretty bent and I hurt my foot, but I managed to save a lot of points by racing this weekend, especially with my arm.”
Michele Cervellin: “It was a positive weekend, we knew already before the start that was a friendly track and suited to my characteristics and so it was … I felt good during all the criteria We all work in the same direction, trying to get better race after race, now we are getting ready for the prospects, in England in shape to take another step forward, which is within our reach.I thank the team for all the efforts they are doing all for me
Coldenhoff: “It was an average one I think today. I knew coming to this GP that the starts were so important and yesterday we saw everyone was so close to each other in terms of speed. I messed up my start completely in the first moto because someone was moving next to me and it took a long time for the gate to drop. I did a good first lap and came home in ninth. The first laps of the second moto were crazy; I think I got passed three times but then also overtook some other guys. It was very intense. I felt good in the moto but also had a few ‘moments’, so when I saw I had a gap over seventh I just brought it home safe.”
Max Anstie: “I keep working and keep doing my best to get back to 100%. In Germany I did not manage to place myself in the best position after the starts and it was difficult to make up time. I did the best I could during this weekend and I hope the results will start coming. Missing a few GPs following my concussion I feel that I’ve been catching up until recently. I am happy that I had two good motos here in Germany and I will keep working to improve my results.”
Thomas Kjer-Olsen: “I struggled to get a good pace at the track and a crash in the opening moto made it all harder. I was racing in sixth position and right after a jump I got together with another rider, both ending up on the ground. I got up pretty quick but couldn’t find my pace after that. In the second moto my start was a lot better and I felt better during the race. We had some good battles and I ended up crossing the line in fifth position. It might not have been the best weekend for us in terms of results but we take it as it is and move on.”
Thomas Covington: “Despite some bad luck my speed was quite good here in Germany. In the opening moto I got caught up in some first lap crashes and lot quite some time. I worked my way up to 13th and that was the best I could do. In the following moto my start wasn’t that good and I ended up going down in the first turn. I started the race half a lap behind the leading group and slowly worked my way to 17th. My bike was working great throughout the weekend and the results could have been a lot better with some extra luck. Now it’s back to work and I’m hoping for some better results next time out.”
Jeremy Seewer: “I always feel great here in Teutschenthal. I have a lot of great memories here and many great fans. I am thankful to them. Today was really frustrating for me. My starts were not good and I crashed in both races but I still managed to finish inside the top-10 so that is a positive and my speed is OK. It was a very frustrating weekend, I am frustrated I couldn’t put the puzzle together but it will be OK, it’s extra motivation for England and France.”
