FIM Motocross World Championship – MX1 / MX2

Teutschenthal (Germania) 16 maggio 2018 – Il Campionato del Mondo 2018 MXGP continua questo fine settimana sul circuito di Teutschenthal per l’8 ° round della stagione, il GP della Germania. Solo pochi giorni fa, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jeffrey Herlings e Antonio Cairoli si sono scontrati al GP della Lettonia, ma Herlings è uscito vittorioso. Questo fine settimana il vantaggio può essere a favore di Cairoli però, con lui storicamente visto molto più vittorioso sul circuito tedesco.

Il circuito di Teutschenthal duro, ha ospitato il Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross nel 1971, ma da allora ha visto diversi vincitori. L’anno scorso Cairoli ha superato Herlings in Germania prendendo la sua 5° vittoria in carriera sul circuito, mentre l’ormai Wilvo Yamaha ufficiale MXGP pilota, Jeremy Seewer in cima alla classe MX2 davanti a Honda 114 di Motorsport Hunter Lawrence e Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Pauls Jonass.

Di nuovo in azione in Germania questo fine settimana c’è il Campionato Mondiale Motocross femminile FIM insieme con la classe del Campionato Europeo EMX125. 88 piloti sono entrati nella corsa 125cc inclusi i leader della serie e vincitori in Lettonia, KTM Junior Rene Hofer. Per le donne ospiterà una tappa piena di piloti tra cui il campione in carica della Yamaha Kiara Fontanesi e leader attuale nei punti, di Altherm JCR Yamaha Courtney Duncan.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jeffrey Herlings arriva in Germania dopo aver vinto il GP di Lettonia Domenica scorsa in una performance impressionante in cui ha dovuto tornare indietro attraverso il gruppo dopo 2 brutte partenze e passare il suo Red Bull KTM Factory Racing compagno di squadra Antonio Cairoli che ha guidato le gare fin dall’inizio.

Cairoli non solo ha vinto qui l’anno scorso su Herlings ma ha vinto 4 altre volte nella sua carriera, mentre Herlings è stato in cima al podio di Teutschenthal due volte nella categoria MX2. Tuttavia Herlings ha lo slancio in questa stagione con la vittoria in Lettonia è la 5° vittoria delle 7 gare finora.

Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team Clement Desalle ha mantenuto il suo terzo posto nella classifica punti con un 4° assoluto in Lettonia subito dopo la sua vittoria in Russia. Desalle ha vinto il GP di Germania a Teutschenthal nel 2014, è stato 4° lo scorso anno, e ha raggiunto il podio altre 3 volte.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory di MXGP Romain Febvre ha avuto un fine settimana misto in Lettonia quando ha combattuto con Cairoli per il comando in Gara 1 finendo terzo, ma poi è uscito in Gara 2. Febvre, nonostante la sua ferita al braccio destro cercherà di correre questo fine settimana e salvare punti, il francese ha vinto il GP nel 2015 e finito nella top 5 in 3 altre occasioni.

5° nel Campionato a questo punto della stagione è Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Gautier Paulin. Paulin appena segnato il suo secondo podio dell’anno lo scorso fine settimana in Lettonia ed è stato anche sul podio l’anno scorso. Paulin non ha mai vinto il GP di Germania, ma è arrivato secondo due volte, sia nel 2015 e nel 2011.

Di Wilvo Yamaha ufficiale MXGP Jeremy Seewer è un pilota da guardare, il rookie MXGP in testa alla classe MX2 qui nel 2017. Inoltre da non dimenticare è il pilota del Team HRC Tim Gajser, che è caduto qui in modo spettacolare nel 2017, mentre era in lotta per la vittoria, e TM factory Racing Max Nagl in quanto sarà il suo GP di casa.

Nella classe MX2 Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory di Thomas Kjer Olsen viene in Germania con la sua prima vittoria della stagione, mentre Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Pauls Jonass guida la classifica di campionato. Jonass ha raggiunto il podio nel 2017, ma è finito fuori dalla top 5 nelle sue altre 3 gare qui mentre Olsen è finito 5° l’anno scorso.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jorge Prado cercherà di riscattarsi da una performance inconsistente, dopo una brutta partenza in Gara 1 in Lettonia. Prado è stato il principale sfidante per il successo di Jonass ma è finito 11° nel 2017.

Honda 114 Motorsports Hunter Lawrence sarà a provare a riprendersi da un incidente della scorsa settimana, soprattutto da quando è salito sul podio tedesco lo scorso anno. Lawrence appena tornato in azione MX2 lo scorso fine settimana dopo essere stato fuori dal Trentino. L’australiano sembrava impressionante e capace di un podio lettone prima della caduta nella sua gara.

Di Kemea Yamaha ufficiale MX2 Ben Watson è stato il migliore dei piloti Kemea complessivi in questa stagione, ma il suo compagno di squadra, e MX2 rookie, Jago Geerts è stato il più impressionante nelle sabbie di Kegums quando ha preso il 2° assoluto, il podio dal Geerts è stato il primo della sua carriera. Watson è stato forte in Lettonia con un 5° assoluto. Notevole è anche che Anthony Rodriguez si unirà al team Kemea come sostituto dell’infortunato Vsevolod Brylyakov.

Aggiungendo alla lista dei contendenti al podio c’è STC Husqvarna Henry Jacobi. Jacobi ha avuto alcune delle migliori corse della sua carriera in questa stagione e ha avuto forti inizi in Lettonia lo scorso fine settimana, anche la sensazione di girare forte. Per Jacobi questo fine settimana è un GP di casa, nato e cresciuto in Germania il giovane pilota Husqvarna avrà un sacco di sostegno per spingerlo verso la parte anteriore della conpetizione.

Altri piloti da tenere d’occhio questo fine settimana è di F & H Racing Team Jed Beaton e del Team HRC Calvin Vlaanderen, entrambi hanno avuto gare forti in questa stagione e che attualmente sono 5° e 6° nella classifica del campionato.

MXGP Gears Up for German GP

TEUTSCHENTHAL (Germany) 16 May 2018 – The 2018 MXGP World Championship continues this weekend at the hilly Teutschenthal circuit for the 8th round of the season, the MXGP of Germany. Only days ago Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings and Antonio Cairoli went bar to bar at the MXGP of Latvia but Herlings came out victorious. This weekend the advantage may be in favor of Cairoli however with him historically seeing much more success on the German circuit.

The hard packed Teutschenthal circuit first hosted the FIM Motocross World Championship in 1971 but since has seen several winners. Last year Cairoli topped Herlings in Germany to takes his 5th career victory on the circuit while the now Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP rider, Jeremy Seewer topped the MX2 class ahead of Honda 114 Motorsport’s Hunter Lawrence and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Pauls Jonass.

Also back in action in Germany this weekend is the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship along with the European Championship class of EMX125. 88 riders have entered into the 125cc racing including series points leader and winner in Latvia, KTM Junior’s Rene Hofer. The women will also host a full gate of riders including defending champion  Yamaha’s Kiara Fontanesi and current points leader, Altherm JCR Yamaha’s Courtney Duncan.

 

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings comes to Germany after winning the MXGP of Latvia only last Sunday in an impressive performance where he had to come back through the pack after 2 bad starts and pass his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Teammate Antonio Cairoli who led both races from the start.

Cairoli not only won here last year over Herlings but 4 other times in his career while Herlings has been atop the Teutschenthal podium twice in the MX2 category. However Herlings does have the momentum so far this season with the Latvian win being the 5th victory of the 7 races so far.

Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Clement Desalle has maintained his third place in the points standings with a 4th overall in Latvia just after his win in Russia. Desalle won the German GP at Teutschenthal in 2014, was 4th last year, and has reached the podium 3 other times.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Romain Febvre had a mixed weekend in Latvia when he battled with Cairoli for the lead in Race 1 eventually finishing 3rd but then crashed out of Race 2. Febvre, despite his injured right-arm will try to race this weekend and salvage points, the Frenchman did win the GP in 2015 and finished in the top 5 on 3 other occasions.

5th in the Championship at this point of the season is Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Gautier Paulin. Paulin just scored his second podium of the year last weekend in Latvia and was also on the podium here last year. Paulin has never won the German GP but has come in 2nd twice, in both 2015 and 2011.

Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP’s Jeremy Seewer is one rider to watch seeing the MXGP rookie topped the MX2 class here in 2017. Also not to forget is Team HRC’s Tim Gajser, who crashed out here in spectacular fashion in 2017 while battling for the win, and TM Factory Racing’s Max Nagl as it will be his home GP.

In the MX2 class Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Thomas Kjer Olsen comes to Germany with his first win of the season while Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Pauls Jonass leads the championship standings for the class. Jonass reached the podium in 2017 but finished outside the top 5 in his 3 other races here while Olsen was 5th last year.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado will be looking to redeem himself from an inconsistent performance after a bad start during Race 1 in Latvia. Prado has been the main challenger to the success of Jonass but finished 11th in 2017.

Honda 114 Motorsports Hunter Lawrence will also try to bounce back from a crash last week, especially since he was on the German podium last year. Lawrence just returned to MX2 action last weekend after being out with injury since practice in Trentino. The Aussie looked impressive and capable of a Latvian podium before his race one crash.

Kemea Yamaha Official MX2’s Ben Watson has been the best of the Kemea riders overall this season but his teammate, and MX2 rookie, Jago Geerts was the most impressive in the sands of Kegums when he took 2nd overall, the podium from Geerts was the first of his career. Watson was also strong in Latvia with 5th overall. Also notable is that Anthony Rodriguez will join the Kemea team as a fill in for the injured Vsevolod Brylyakov.

Adding to the list of podium contenders is STC Racing Husqvarna’s Henry Jacobi. Jacobi has had some of the best rides of his career this season and had strong starts in Latvia last weekend even while feeling under the weather. For Jacobi this weekend is a home GP, born and raised in Germany the young Husqvarna rider will have plenty of support to push him toward the front of the pack.

Other riders to keep an eye on this weekend is F&H Racing Team’s Jed Beaton and Team HRC’s Calvin Vlaanderen, both have had strong races this season and they currently are 5th and 6th in the championship’s standings.
