GP del Trentino – Italy – Rider Comments
GP del Trentino in Italia nel tracciato di Pietramurata, un incredibile weekend di gare mozzafiato che ha tenuto tutti attaccati allo schermo di casa i chi era in pista, le lotte si sono concluse, nella MX2 Jonass beffato da una qualifica pessima amministra il vantaggio in classifica, ma Prado si riconferma vincitore sul circuito tecnico di Pietramurata e nella MXGP continua il duello con un incontenibile Herlings che chiude un weekend a dir poco perfetto con miglior giro del GO, vittoria al Sabato e doppietta la Domenica, prova di tutto Cairoli che a casa vuole la vittoria ma si deve piegare alla forza dell’olandese, ma un GP non fa il campionato e Tony vuole essere già al prossimo GP, Desalle ottimo secondo posto sul podio!

RIDERS MXGP PODIO
Jeffrey Herlings: “È fantastico vincere in questo modo e abbiamo lavorato duramente per le nostre partenze. Ci è stato un grande miglioramento per noi questo fine settimana e spero che potremo mantenerlo in questo modo. Questa non è una delle mie piste preferite anche se mi piace venire qui. Sono stati due giorni fantastici. È davvero incredibile aver vinto così tante gare e con un solo marchio. C’è molto amore con KTM e fare tutto questo insieme è davvero speciale. Non vedo l’ora che arrivi il Portogallo. ”
Clement Desalle: “Sapevo che le partenze sarebbero state ancora più importanti del solito su questa pista perché è così difficile per superare, abbiamo lavorato duro per questo e ho fatto il top five in ogni gara. fine settimana e nella prima manche potevo stare con il leader per molti giri al secondo posto, il che era positivo per la mia fiducia, nella seconda gara è stato un po ‘più difficile superare Coldenhoff, ho preso una pietra nei miei occhiali e mi è finita polvere nell’occhio e quando finalmente sono arrivato in terza posizione i leader erano spariti, sono contento di girare così forte con i terreni duri, abbiamo una buona base per continuare a lavorare e avvicinarci ancora di più ai primi due “.
Tony Cairoli: “Per il campionato è bene finire sempre sul podio, ma oggi volevo un po ‘di più. Jeffrey è stato davvero veloce in quella seconda manche ed è stato difficile batterlo per velocità e costanza. Nella prima manche qualcosa è successo alla prima curva e alcune pietre hanno colpito il mio freno e la parte anteriore si sentiva strana per i primi giri. Era molto deluso. Sono scivolato all’undicesimo e poi la ruota si è sentita di nuovo libera, quindi ho potuto spingere ma poi è stato difficile passare su questa pista. Cercheremo di essere più coerenti al prossimo GP, oggi davanti al mio pubblico volevo vincere. Jeffrey Herlings è stato bravo ed ha meritato la vittoria. Cercherò di rifarmi ad Agueda, prossimo GP “.
RIDERS MX2 PODIO
Jorge Prado: “È bello vincere ancora qui e chiudere alcuni punti nel campionato. Sono abbastanza fiducioso su questo tipo di terreno e questo tipo di pista. È stato un fine settimana molto dignitoso. L’obiettivo era quello di iniziare bene e questo significava il primo posto e l’ho fatto sabato e la prima manche, con una pista libera davanti puoi guidare un po ‘più rilassato. I miei tempi sul giro sono stati buoni ogni volta che sono uscito e sono diventato più fiducioso e più forte “.
Thomas Covington: “Per me è stato un ottimo weekend. Dopo l’infortunio al ginocchio sul finire della stagione scorsa, ho lavorato molto per tornare nella forma migliore: finalmente questo lavoro inizia a pagare. Io e Thomas Kjer Olsen abbiamo iniziato con un 2-3 nella manche di qualificazione, mostrando di avere entrambi una bella velocità. Nelle due manche della domenica sono partito sempre bene. In Gara1 forse ho corso troppo rilassato, chiudendo quinto. In Gara2 sono partito ancora meglio e mi sono trovato dietro a Prado. Ho deciso di mettergli un po’ di pressione, ma era difficile superarlo. Avevamo entrambi un buon passo, e solo all’ultimo giro sono riuscito a infilarlo, cogliendo la mia prima vittoria dell’anno. Questo in Italia è un risultato che mi dà un a bella carica, e continuerò a darci dentro per il resto della stagione.”
ALTRI COMMENTI PILOTI
Pauls Jonass: “Direi che la velocità è arrivata questo fine settimana ma non ho avuto le migliori partenze. La pista è stata davvero difficile per i sorpassi e non ho trovato il mio ritmo. Il quinto in classifica è ancora OK e alcuni punti positivi per il campionato, quindi guarderemo al prossimo GP. ”
Tim Gajser: La mia gara 1 non è stata la migliore e sono rimasto bloccato nel gruppo, ma ho preso la linea di mezzo nella seconda curva e sono arrivato al quarto posto. Sono riuscito a rimanere in contatto con i ragazzi davanti per metà gara, ma dopo alcuni errori Toni ha colmato il divario e mi ha superato. Il quinto posto non è stato male, ma non è mai bello essere superato. Ho avuto lo stesso inizio di gara 2 ma qualcuno si è schiantato davanti a me e ho corso al recupero. Da quel momento in poi ho solo cercato di recuperare più posti che potevo. Sappiamo di poter fare meglio di così, quindi lavoreremo sodo e ci assicureremo di migliorare le nostre prestazioni e i risultati ad Agueda. Vorrei ringraziare il team per lo straordinario lavoro svolto e per i miei fan, che si sono presentati in gran numero per darmi tutto il loro supporto.
Thomas Kjer-Olsen: “Il weekend era iniziato positivamente, ma la caduta di Gara2 lo ha reso storto. Ho avuto un buon feeling con la moto per tutto il weekend. In Gara1 sono partito bene e ho corso per un bel pezzo in seconda posizione, per poi chiudere terzo. In Gara2 sono partito peggio, e un po’ di errori nei primi giri hanno peggiorato le cose. Su questa pista non è facile superare, e mentre ci provavo sono caduto sbattendo forte. Dopo essere ripartito ho fatto del mio meglio, chiudendo sedicesimo al traguardo. Non è ovviamente il risultato che ci aspettavamo qui, ma la stagione è lunga. Farò del mio meglio per riprendermi e tornare sul podio in Portogallo.”
Gautier Paulin: “Questa è una pista difficile, e aver sbagliato la partenza in entrambe le manche ha reso tutto ancora più difficile. Peccato perché fino alle due finali avevo avuto buone sensazioni. Con il team abbiamo fatto un gran lavoro nelle ultime settimane e sono molto contento di come abbiamo sistemato la mia FC 450. Essendo partito male, il 6-5 è il meglio che sono riuscito a fare. Il tracciato era tosto, e c’erano pochi punti dove sorpassare. Sono contento del supporto del team, e continueremo a lavorare sodo. La stagione è lunghissima, e spero che arrivino presto risultati migliori.”

Herlings: “It is amazing to win in this way and we have worked hard on our starts. There was a big improvement for us this weekend and I hope we can keep it this way. This is not one of my favourite tracks even though I enjoy coming here. It was a great two days. It is pretty amazing to have won so many races and with just one brand. There is a lot of love with KTM and to do all of that together is pretty special. I’m looking forward to Portugal.”
Clement Desalle: “I knew the starts would be even more important than usual on this track because it is so difficult to pass; we have worked hard for that and I made a top five start in every race. My riding was also really consistent all weekend and in the first moto I could stay with the leader for many laps to finish second which was good for my confidence. In the second race it was a little more difficult to pass Coldenhoff; I got a stone in my goggles and dust in my eye and when I finally got into third place the leaders were gone. I’m happy to come so strong on hardpack; we have a good base to keep working and get even closer to the first two.”
Cairoli: “For the championship it is good to always finish on the podium but I wanted a bit more today. Jeffrey was really fast in that second moto and it was difficult to beat him for speed and consistency. In the first moto something happened in the first corner and some stones hit my brake and the front [end] felt strange for the first few laps. It was very sketchy. I dropped to eleventh and then the wheel felt free again so I could push but then it was hard to pass on this track. We will try to be more consistent at the next GP.”
MX2
Prado: “It is great to win here again and to close up some points in the championship. I’m pretty confident on this kind of dirt and these kinds of tracks. It was a very decent weekend. The goal was to get a good start and that meant first place and I did that on Saturday and the first moto, with a clear track you can ride a bit more relaxed. My lap-times were good every time I went out and I am getting more confident and stronger.”
Thomas Covington: “It was a really good weekend for us. After my knee injury at the end of last season I’ve worked a lot to get back to full fitness and I’m satisfied it has started to pay off. The weekend started with me and TKO going 2-3 in the qualifying race and that showed we both had good speed going into the final motos. I had good starts in both motos. In the first race I was maybe a bit more relaxed so ended up getting fifth. In moto two I got an even better start and found myself following Prado. I decided to put some pressure on him but he was hard to pass him. We both had a good pace and in the final lap I managed to make the pass for my first moto win of the season. The results here in Italy were definitely morale boosting and now I need to continue the hard work for the rest of the season.”
OTHER COMMENTS
Jonass: “I would say the speed was there this weekend but I didn’t get the best starts. The track was really difficult for passing and I didn’t find my flow. Fifth overall is still OK and some good points for the championship so we’ll look towards the next GP.”
Tim Gajser: My race one start was not the best and I got stuck in the pack, but I took the middle line in the second corner and moved up to fourth place. I managed to stay in touch with the front guys for half the race, but after a few mistakes Toni bridged the gap and got past me. Fifth place was not too bad, but it never feels good to be overtaken. I had kind of the same start to race two but someone crashed in front of me and I ran over his wheel. From then on I just tried to recover as many places as I could. We know we can do better than this so we’ll be working hard and make sure to improve our performance and results in Agueda. I would like to thank the team for the amazing job done and my fans, who showed up in big numbers to give me all their support.
Gautier Paulin: “It was a tough track and not getting good starts in any of the two motos made it all harder for me. I had a good feeling on my bike going into the weekend. We’ve worked a lot with the team these last few weeks and I’m really confident with the set-up we’ve found for my FC 450 machine. Not getting the starts I would have wanted to in the final motos, getting 6-5 results was the best I could do. The track was tough and there were not many spots to make passes. I’m really happy the whole team is behind me and we continue the hard work. The season is long and I’m hoping for some better results soon.”
Romain Febvre: “The weekend was pretty good. My speed is there, and so are my starts. The issue this weekend was the track. It was almost impossible to pass, so it was difficult. I think on a better track, things will be different.”
Coldenhoff: “Close to the podium again and I had a great weekend. I made a slight mistake at the start of the first moto and managed to pass two guys to finish seventh; which was OK but I wasn’t that happy with it. I had a great start in the second moto and I was third for a while. Desalle started pushing and I made a few errors but after a breather I could push again and stay with him. Fifth overall is a decent result and I’d like more weekends like this. The bike is great and I enjoy riding it. I’m happy.”
