MXGP set for return to Sevlievo?
Il Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross del 2018 potrebbe tornare ad un programma di venti round se si devono credere alle ultime voci riguardanti la serie. Il pluripremiato circuito Sevlievo, ospite del Gran Premio della Bulgaria, è presumibilmente tornato sulla lista MXGP per una slot estiva e per rimpiazzare il buco lasciato dal dispositivo svedese che è stato cancellato a metà gennaio.
La Bulgaria non ha organizzato un Grand Prix dal 2014. L’ambientazione di hard-pack e l’anfiteatro è stata creata e utilizzata per la prima volta nel 2003. I vincitori dell’ultimo incontro sono stati Tony Cairoli e Jeffrey Herlings (MX2). Il sito si distingue anche per il debutto nel campionato del mondo FIM di Herlings come pilota della Red Bull KTM nel 2010 all’età di quindici anni; l’olandese è arrivato quarto in classifica generale.
Il Gran Premio bulgaro è stato apparentemente sovvenzionato dal governo e dai finanziamenti regionali e ha goduto di presenze salutari nelle prime edizioni dell’evento, ma i punti interrogativi si sono soffermati sulla stabilità della gara entro il 2013.
Il Grand Prix of Sweden è stato fissato per il 12 agosto; una settimana dopo il turno belga e sette giorni prima del GP di Svizzera. La corsa Frauenfeld-Gachnang è minacciata dai residenti locali (almeno secondo un post di www.speedweek.com) ma gli organizzatori stanno lavorando su questi temi e sperano di organizzare il terzo evento sul circuito vicino a Zurigo.

MXGP set for return to Sevlievo?
The 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship could return to a twenty-round schedule if the latest rumours surrounding the series are to be believed. The award-winning Sevlievo circuit, host of the Grand Prix of Bulgaria, is allegedly coming back onto the MXGP slate for a summer slot and to replace the hole left by the Swedish fixture that was cancelled in mid-January.
Bulgaria has not staged a Grand Prix since 2014. The hard-pack and amphitheatre setting was created and used for the first time in 2003. Winners at the last gathering were Tony Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings (MX2). The site is also notable as being the location of Herlings’ FIM world championship debut as a Red Bull KTM rider in 2010 at the age of fifteen; the Dutchman finished fourth overall.
The Bulgarian Grand Prix was apparently subsidised by government and regional funding and enjoyed healthy attendances in the first editions of the event but question marks hovered over the stability of the race by 2013.
The Grand Prix of Sweden was fixed for August 12th; one week after the Belgian round and seven days before the GP of Switzerland. The Frauenfeld-Gachnang race is under threat from local residents (at least according to a post by www.speedweek.com) but organisers are working on the issues and are hopeful to stage the third event at the circuit near Zurich.
