Tony Cairoli ha rinnovato il suo contratto giovedì a Roma alla presenza del Team Manager Claudio De Carli e del direttore sportivo KTM Pit Beirer. L’accordo vede una lunga collaborazione e segnerà un totale di undici anni con lo stesso marchio.
Il Capionato 2018 inizia il prossimo fine settimana con il primo turno dei diciannove in programma a Neuquen per il Gran Premio della Patagonia Argentina. L’appuntamento sudamericano segnerà l’inizio del quindicesima stagione di Cairoli come pilota GP a tempo pieno e il suo nono con colori Red Bull KTM. In una carriera straordinaria che vanta nove titoli, sette nella classe regina dal 2009, sei con SX-F, 213 presenze in GP, 83 vittorie in carriera e 145 podi con 163 vittorie di manche. Cairoli è ancora il riferimento per lo sport, in lotta per aggiudicarsi un decimo campionato eguagliando il record e la sua prima “difesa” dello status No.1 con la KTM 450 SX-F.
“Sono davvero felice di annunciarlo perché abbiamo già fatto la storia nel 2010 con la KTM 350 SX-F contro i 450 e ci siamo riusciti. Mi sento parte di KTM per questo successo e da allora l’azienda è cresciuta molto “, ha commentato Cairoli. “Ho fatto un sacco di sforzi per portare titoli e sono molto orgoglioso di far parte della compagnia. Investono molto e fanno molto lavoro in sviluppo e vedete i risultati, perché è il primo produttore di fuoristrada al mondo. Sono felice di continuare e di fare altri due anni e di provare a vincere più titoli. Sono pienamente motivato per le prossime stagioni. ”
“Circa due anni fa la gente stava già dicendo che Tony stava diventando troppo vecchio per rimanere in cima e ho preso quel momento per dichiarare che avevamo piena fiducia nelle sue capacità. Ha avuto due stagioni difficili, ma è stato incredibile come è ritornato nel 2017 e ha dimostrato che avevamo assolutamente ragione “, ha detto Pit Beirer. “Mi ha reso felice e molto orgoglioso che volesse continuare e vuole continuare a spingere. Credo che Tony abbia trovato il giusto equilibrio nella sua vita – personalmente e professionalmente – per continuare a correre e volere raggiungere altro. Ne è molto appassionato ed è per questo che continua ad essere così forte. Sono molto felice di rendere questo forte impegno a Tony e sono molto lieto che la nostra storia MXGP andrà avanti. Voglio anche ringraziare Claudio De Carli e il suo ruolo. Ha avuto una grande voce nel successo di Cairoli-KTM nel corso degli anni e potrebbe durare a lungo “.
La Red Bull KTM Factory Racing è diretta in Argentina nei prossimi giorni come campione del mondo in entrambe le categorie del Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross per la sesta volta in questo decennio.

The 2018 contest begins next weekend with the first round of nineteen taking place at Neuquen for the Grand Prix of Patagonia Argentina. The South American fixture will mark the beginning of Cairoli’s fifteenth term as a full-time GP rider and his ninth in Red Bull KTM colors. In a remarkable career that boasts nine titles (seven in the premier class since 2009, six with SX-F technology), 213 GP appearances, 83 career wins and 145 podiums (with 163 moto victories) Cairoli is still the reference for the sport as he bids for a record-equaling tenth championship and his first viable ‘defense’ of the No.1 status with the KTM 450 SX-F.
“I’m really happy to announce this because we already made history in 2010 with the KTM 350 SX-F against the 450s and succeeded with that challenge. I feel a part of KTM because of that success and since then the company has grown a lot,” commented Cairoli. “I put in a lot of effort to bring titles and I feel very proud to be part of the company. They invest a lot and do a lot of work in development and you see the result because it is the top off-road manufacturer in the world. I’m happy to continue and to do another two years and to try for more titles. I’m fully motivated for the upcoming seasons.”
“Around two years ago people were already saying that Tony was getting too old to stay at the top and I took that moment to declare that we had full trust in his skills and capabilities. He had two tough seasons but it was amazing how he bounced back in 2017 and showed that we were absolutely right,” said Pit Beirer. “It made me happy and very proud that he wanted to continue and he wants to keep pushing. I believe Tony has found the right balance in his life – personally and professionally – to keep racing and wanting to achieve. He is very passionate about it and this is why he continues to be so strong. I’m only too happy to make this strong commitment to Tony and very pleased that our MXGP story will go on. I also want to thank and pay credit to Claudio De Carli and his role. He has had a big say in the Cairoli-KTM success over the years and long may it last.”
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing head to Argentina in the coming days as world champions in both categories of the FIM Motocross World Championship for the sixth time this decade.
