Febvre diffida dell’ultima esperienza MXGP per la preparazione al 2018
Il campione del mondo MXGP del 2015 Romain Febvre ha passato la maggior parte dei test per la serie 2018 ed è conscio della direzione sbagliata che ha preso con il team Monster Energy Yamaha nella scorsa stagione mentre cerca di dare forma alla nuova YZ450FM in un pacchetto competitivo.
Il venticinquenne non ha vinto un Gran Premio quest’anno(Stagione 2017) per la prima volta in quella che è stata la sua terza stagione nella classe regina. Febvre era sesto in classifica e ha gestito due podi nella seconda metà del campionato, mentre cercava di invertire un errore con lo sviluppo e il carattere del motore che lasciava la Yamaha in difficoltà dal cancello MXGP e difficile per il francese spingere per entrambi 30 minuti e 2 giri di manche.
“L’anno scorso abbiamo commesso un errore con l’impostazione e siamo andati nella direzione sbagliata e non voglio che accada di nuovo”, ha commentato la scorsa settimana. “Abbiamo imparato molto e attualmente abbiamo fatto tutti i nostri test per il 2018 in termini di motore e abbiamo ancora qualche piccolo lavoro da fare con le sospensioni e il telaio, ma niente di troppo. Dopo un brutto anno non voglio davvero ripetere. ”
Febvre era appena tornato dalle vacanze in Grecia; il suo secondo viaggio in campagna in un mese, quando inizialmente partecipò a un’emozionante nuova produzione video per Monster Energy, dove l’ex campione del mondo guidava sulla spiaggia di Navagio e saltava attraverso il famoso naufragio che si trova appollaiato sulla sabbia. Il video dovrebbe apparire su Internet nei prossimi giorni. I suoi compiti di collaudo con il compagno di squadra Jeremy Van Horebeek e la squadra prolifica e laboriosa di Mino Raspanti hanno contribuito a far sì che l’ YZ450FM 2018 fosse pronto per affrontare KTM, Husqvarna, Honda e Kawasaki l’anno prossimo.
Mentre si prepara a intraprendere il suo programma fisico per il 2018, Romain ha ammesso i piani pre-campionato per le corse e l’ultimo lavoro di selezione deve ancora essere finalizzato, ma potrebbe di nuovo dirigersi verso la Sardegna per guidare e disputare il campionato italiano. “Non abbiamo ancora discusso del piano, ma è probabile che testeremo e faremo le gare italiane prima di andare in Argentina.”

Febvre wary of last MXGP experience for 2018 prep
2015 MXGP World Champion Romain Febvre has gone through the bulk of testing for the 2018 series and is mindful of the misdirection he took with the factory Monster Energy Yamaha team last winter as he looks to shape the new YZ450FM into a competitive package.
The 25 year old did not win a Grand Prix this year for the first time in what was his third season in the premier class. Febvre was sixth in the standings and managed two podium finishes in the latter half of the campaign as he looked to reverse an error with development and engine character that left the Yamaha struggling out of the MXGP gate and also difficult for the Frenchman to push for both 30 minute and 2 lap motos.
“Last year we made a mistake with the setting and we went the wrong way and I don’t want it to happen again,” he commented last week. “We learned a lot and have actually done all our testing now for 2018 in terms of the engine and we still have some small jobs to do with suspension and chassis but nothing too crazy. After a bad year I really do not want a repeat.”
Febvre had just returned from holiday in Greece; his second trip to the country in a month as he initially took part in a thrilling new video production for Monster Energy where the former world champ rode on the Navagio Beach and jumped through the famous shipwreck that lies stationed on the sand. The video is due to appear on the internet in the coming days. His testing duties with teammate Jeremy Van Horebeek and Mino Raspanti’s prolific and hard-working crew involved making sure the 2018 YZ450FM is ready to face the likes of KTM, Husqvarna, Honda and Kawasaki next year.
As he prepares to embark on his physical programme for 2018 Romain admitted the pre-season plans for racing and last dialling-in work have still to be finalised but he could again head to Sardinia to ride and contest the three round Italian Championship. “We still haven’t discussed the plan but it is probable that we’ll test and do the Italian races before heading to Argentina.”
