Musquin racconta ricchezze e ricompense dopo la vittoria di Monster Energy Cup

Marvin Musquin di Red Bull KTM ha giustamente parlato del mondo del motocross lo scorso fine settimana dopo la sua eccezionale performance 1-1-1 che gli ha consegnato il ‘Monster Million’ e un massiccio giorno di paga per il lavoro di una sera a Las Vegas. La velocità del francese arriva dopo una pausa di mese dalla guida e una pausa dal AMA Indoor e Outdoor 2017 dove il #25 è rimasto seduto fuori al Motocross delle Nazioni per recuperare da solo l’infortunio e fare i lavori sulla 450 SX-F.
Incoraggiamento per Musquin dopo il suo successo, con tre partenze lampo e un ritmo incalzante davanti a Rockstar Energy Husqvarna (e il compagno di allenamento alla Baker’s Factory) Jason Anderson e il nuovo compagno di squadra KTM Broc Tickle, è stato anche entusiasmante. Il 2018 sarà un termine in cui Musquin si aspetta di riempire il posto liberato da Ryan Dungey ed è la principale speranza della squadra mettere nuovamente la corona 450SX sugli scaffali di Murrieta.
La settima della Monster Energy Cup all Sam Boyd Stadium si è presentata con una serie di circostanze diverse per il 27 enne. Musquin inizialmente doveva giocare con Eli Tomac di Kawasaki Monster Energy e sfruttare al meglio la rapida Joker Lane fino a quando il suo rivale si è schiantato ad alta velocità ed è stato out dal resto del programma serale. Con una forte corsa davanti ad Anderson nel secondo Main Event, Musquin sapeva che un milione di dollari era in contatto con la distanza e richiedeva solo dieci minuti di messa a fuoco. Ha ammesso che l’attesa prima dell’ultimo sprint è stato difficile, ma il suo successivo holeshot è stato superiore a tutti ed è scampato per segnare un piccolo punto di riferimento in una carriera che già vanta il motocross FIM Champion e un titolo AMA 250SX.
“Prima del fine settimana non stavo pensando a vincere tutte e tre le manche, è piuttosto irreale farlo”, ha detto in seguito. “Sapevo che mi avrebbero intervistato proprio in cima al cancello e prima di quell’ultima manche! Abbiamo avuto una lunga pausa tra il secondo e il terzo main event solo per renderlo un po ‘più stressante. Comunque, abbiamo avuto un ottimo inizio e questa è stata la chiave stasera “.
“Molta gente stava guardando se una persona era in grado di vincere un milione in una notte, in una gara di motocross, è così unico”, ha aggiunto. “Penso che abbiamo molte opinioni e che la gente ne parlerà sicuramente, quindi è buono per lo sport. Quando ho attraversato la linea d’ arrivo e ho incontrato la squadra, tutti stavamo ridendo come pazzi; era come “sei serio?!” Era come essere al casinò e vincere il jackpot! E’ stato super-cool. Il denaro è una cosa e non compra tutto, ma per poter vincerlo in una notte è super-speciale “.
Grazie alla crescente influenza del software e della tecnologia di LitPro, la folla al Sam Boyd (e anche attraverso la TV) è stata in grado di monitorare il cuore e le funzioni ‘vitali’ dei diversi piloti, tra cui Musquin. Questo tipo di informazioni e dati rilevanti è interessante, in più con la copertura del motocross apre un nuovo potenziale eccitante per lo spettacolo.
“Il mio sforzo è stato lo stesso per la terza manche come la prima e la secondo, ecco perché il cuore è stato lo stesso”, ha spiegato Musquin. “La manche era la stessa di quello in cui Jason era dietro e stavamo spingendo molto duramente. Volevo solo mantenere quel piccolo divario e mantenerlo costante. Era facile confondere quella sezione ritmica. Jason era davvero veloce. Non siamo stati in sella tanto perché dopo la stagione estiva tutti abbiamo preso una pausa. Il cuore e la respirazione erano abbastanza alti anche se abbiamo fatto solo dieci giri. Stavamo spingendo forte. ”
Musquin farà dieci anni come pilota KTM nel 2018. Ha portato gli austriaci ad un notevole successo, oltre a ottenere credenza per la sua cordialità, simpatia e approccio al lavoro. Il successo della Monster Cup ha aumentato il suo conto bancario, ma è stato anche un notevole risultato sulla sua mappa di carriera. “Essere in grado di vincere tre manche è piuttosto irreale. È una corsa unica con la Joker Lane, senza whoops ed essere così veloce. Non è come qualcosa che avremo ad Anaheim. Bisogna assicurarsi che la tua moto sia ben organizzata, “ha continuato. “Ma ti dà fiducia. Ho ottenuto il terzo posto l’anno scorso e ho vinto lo Straight Rhythm [Red Bull] è una gara diversa ma è ancora fuori stagione e se fai bene allora ti dà la fiducia per la nuova stagione. È solo una gara così e so che quei ragazzi stanno lavorando super-duro [per Anaheim] “.
“Vincere è piuttosto incredibile, ma penso che la mia prima vittoria supercross a Dallas era più emotiva. Sapevo che il denaro era il premio e solo un ragazzo lo aveva fatto, questo non succede ogni giorno o ogni anno: non riuscivamo ancora a crederci “.

Musquin talks riches and rewards after important Monster Energy Cup victory
Reactions from the newly minted Red Bull KTM star after an important and significant supercross success last weekend in Las Vegas
Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin was rightfully the talk of the motocross world last weekend after his stunning 1-1-1 performance delivered the ‘Monster Million’ and a massive payday for just one evening’s work in Las Vegas. The Frenchman’s speed came off the back of a month’s riding and a break from the 2017 AMA Indoor and Outdoor season where #25 sat out the Motocross of Nations to recover from just his second campaign with the works 450 SX-F.
Encouragingly for Musquin the manner of his success – three lightning starts and unwavering pace at the front ahead of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna (and Baker’s Factory training-mate) Jason Anderson and new KTM teammate Broc Tickle – was also exciting. 2018 will be a term where Musquin is expected to fill the boots vacated by Ryan Dungey and is the prolific factory squad’s main hope to again place the 450SX crown on the shelves at Murrieta.
The seventh Monster Energy Cup at the open Sam Boyd Stadium presented a varying set of circumstances for the 27 year old. Musquin initially had to dice with Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac and make the most of the rapid Joker Lane until his rival crashed at high speed and was counted out of the rest of the evening programme. With a strong run ahead of Anderson in the second ten lap Main Event Musquin knew a million dollars was in touching distance and required just ten more minutes of focus. He admitted the wait before the tense last sprint was difficult but his subsequent holeshot was ridiculously superior and he escaped to mark a small landmark in a career that already boasts motocross FIM World Championships and a AMA 250SX title.
“Before the weekend I was not thinking about winning all three motos, it is pretty unreal to do that,” he said afterwards. “I knew they would interview me right on top of the gate and before that last moto! We had such a long break between the second and third motos just to make it a bit more stressful. Anyway, we had a great start and that was the key tonight.”
“A lot of people were watching and to see one person winning a million in one night at a motocross race is so unique,” he added. “I think we got a lot of views and people will be talking about it for sure, so that’s good for the sport. When I crossed the finish line and met the team we were all just laughing like crazy; it was like ‘are you serious?!’ It was like being at the casino and winning the jackpot! It was super-cool. Money is one thing and doesn’t buy everything but to be able to win tonight is super-special.”
Thanks to the growing influence of LitPro’s software and technology the crowd at the Sam Boyd (and also through TV) were able to track the heartrate and ‘vitals’ of various riders, including Musquin. This type of information and data is creeping more into coverage of motocross and opens some exciting new potential for the show.
“[my] effort was the same for the third moto as the first and the second, that’s why the heartrate was the same,” Musquin explained. “The moto was the same as the second one where Jason was behind and pushing really hard. I just wanted to keep that little gap and keep consistent. It was easy to mess up that rhythm section. Jason was really fast. We haven’t been riding that much because after the outdoor season we all took a break. The heartrate and breathing was pretty high even though it was only a ten lapper. We were pushing hard.”
Musquin will toast ten years as a factory KTM rider in 2018. He has brought the Austrians considerable success as well as gaining credence for his friendliness, likeability and approachability. The Monster Cup achievement swelled his bank account but was also a noticeable marker on his career road map. “Being able to win three motos is pretty unreal. It is such a unique race with the Joker Lane, no whoops and being so fast. It is not like something we’ll have in Anaheim. You have to make sure your bike it set-up well for it,” he offered. “But it gives you confidence. I got third here last year and I won the [Red Bull] Straight rhythm – it is a different race but it is still the off-season and if you do good then it gives you confidence for the new season. It is only one race and I know those guys are going to work super-hard [for Anaheim].”
“To win is pretty amazing but I think my first supercross victory in Dallas was more emotional. I knew the money was on the line and only one guy had made it and it doesn’t happen every day or every year: we just couldn’t believe it.”
