Wilson continua l’esercizio di “recupero” con l’aspetto del 2017 Monster Cup
Il pilota del Rockstar Energy Husqvarna, Dean Wilson, continuerà a correre e prepararsi fino all’inizio della stagione Supercross 2018 e completare un anno notevole dove l’ex campione AMA 250MX ha girato la sua carriera. Wilson, che ha iniziato il 2017 come privato ad l’Anaheim 1 Supercross e ha concluso la stagione motocross come un atleta Husky aiutando anche il Team Gran Bretagna ad un primo podio in due decenni, ha parlato esclusivamente della sua rinascita dopo due anni ‘persi’ per lesioni al ginocchio con chirurgia ricostruttiva e domande sul suo potenziale per competere nuovamente al livello più alto dello sport.
“Solo per essere scelto per la squadra britannica è stato incredibile … ho iniziato l’anno sul retro di uno Sprinter”, ha detto a Matterley Basin e prima di tornare alla sua base statunitense per avviare i test Supercross in vista della Monster Energy Cup a Las Vegas questo fine settimana. “Ho sempre creduto di avere il talento, ma sono stato out e dovevo rimettere insieme le cose, rimanendo lontano per lesioni e avere un po ‘di slancio dalla mia parte. Ho lavorato duramente per tornare dal basso ed è bello che sia stato pagato “.
Wilson ha giocato la sua parte con Max Anstie e Tommy Searle nella creazione di una pietra miliare britannica alla 71° edizione del Nazioni in Inghilterra quasi due settimane fa. “Avremo sicuramente potuto fare di più con una mia prestazione migliore al Des Nations”, ha rivelato. “Non ero incredibile là fuori [a Matterley] ma ero costante e ho segnato alcuni punti solidi. Max era l’uomo; non puoi battere un 1-1. Avrei potuto fare meglio … ma stavo lottando un po ‘nelle retrovie e nella mia visione con il fango negli occhi”.
“Quando guardi i punti e vedi che siamo rimasti lontani dal secondo posto penso ‘se solo avessi potuto passare questo o quel pilota …’ ma ho fatto del mio meglio”, ha aggiunto sul finale vicino con Team Netherlands.
Wilson sarà accanto a Jason Anderson (e Zach Osborne sul FC450 per la stagione all’aperto, Motocross, per la 250SX East Coast Champion rimane sul 250 nel Supercross) ancora nel 2018. E’ inizialmente atterrato sula sella di Husqvarna dopo che Christophe Pourcel ha avuto problemi di infortunio e alla fine si trasferì alla serie canadese. Avendo perso tanto tempo di gara nelle ultime stagioni, è ansioso di rimanere attivo. “Adesso ho alcune corse fuori stagione”, ha detto. “Continuerò a prepararmi, perché mi sento come se abbia perso molto tempo prima. Voglio continuare a lavorare in anticipo e continuerò a lavorare finché non arriverò al massimo”.

Wilson continues busy ‘recovery’ year with 2017 Monster Cup appearance
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Dean Wilson will carry on racing and preparation through to the beginning of the 2018 Supercross season and complete a remarkable year where the former AMA 250MX champion has turned around his career. Wilson, who started 2017 as a privateer at the Anaheim 1 supercross and ended the motocross term as a works Husky athlete and by helping Team Great Britain to a first podium in two decades spoke exclusively about the renaissance after two ‘lost’ years to knee injury and reconstructive surgery and questions over his potential to again compete at the top level of the sport.
“Just to be picked for the British team was amazing…I begun the year out of the back of a Sprinter,” he said at Matterley Basin and before returning to his US base to start Supercross testing ahead of the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas this weekend. “I always believed I have the talent but it was about putting things together, staying away from injury and having some momentum on my side. I’ve worked hard to be back on my feet again and it’s nice that it paid off.”
Wilson played his part along with Max Anstie and Tommy Searle in creating a British milestone at the 71st Nations in England nearly two weeks ago. “We’ll definitely be framing my Des Nations top,” he beamed. “I was not amazing out there [at Matterley] but I was steady and I got some solid points. Max was the man; you cannot beat a 1-1. I could have done better…but I was struggling a bit in the ruts and with my vision.”
“When you look at the points and you see we were one away from second you do think ‘if only I could have passed him…’ but I did my best,” he added on the close finale with Team Netherlands.
Wilson will line-up next to Jason Anderson (and Zach Osborne on the FC450 for the outdoor season as the 250SX East Coast Champion stays on the 250 for supercross) again in 2018. He initially landed the Husqvarna saddle after Christophe Pourcel had injury problems and eventually transferred to the Canadian series. Having missed so much race time in recent seasons he is keen to remain active. “I have some off-season races now,” he said. ‘I’m just going to keep on because I feel like I have missed a lot. I want to be running upfront again and I will keep working until I get there.”
