Strijbos per continuare in MXGP
Il pilota del campionato del mondo Kevin Strijbos ha firmato per competere nella serie MXGP 2018 in un nuovo accordo che sarà presto annunciato. Il belga lascerà Suzuki – una squadra con cui ha trascorso gran parte della sua carriera – e ha fornito materiale racing per la prossima stagione per quella che sarà la sua quinta squadra in sedici anni di corse di Grand Prix.
“Sarò qui un altro anno in modo che sia buono e credo che la notizia verrà fuori la prossima settimana”, ha detto il 32 anni all’USGP.
Strijbos ha perso cinque grands prix in questa stagione con un problema di gomito e alla schiena, ma sta aumentando la sua competitività sul nuovo RM-Z450 fino al punto che ha segnato un quinto posto alla seconda manche del USGP al WW Motocross Ranch. Ha vinto il Gran Premio belga del 2016 a Lommel.
“È stato un anno pessimo, in realtà due anni pessimi, e mi sento che non sono ancora finito”, ha detto 22. “Le cose non hanno funzionato così bene con la squadra quest’anno perché abbiamo avuto una nuova moto ed era più come una stagione di prova per questo. Stiamo migliorando tutto, ma non è facile. Ho una certa velocità e ho avuto alcune ferite, ma non ho ancora mostrato quello che sono ancora in grado di poter fare “.
Kevin è senza dubbio uno dei piloti più esperti e più anziani della MXGP ed è famoso per la sua dedizione alla preparazione e forma fisica. Stava parlando con Honda e anche Kawasaki per il 2018, ma è stato anche collegato con Standing Construct e la loro nuova unità MXGP.
“Sono contento di poter trovare una nuova squadra e come ho detto a loro non sono alla ricerca di grandi soldi voglio solo una buona moto, una buona squadra e buone persone attorno a me per andare ancora per un anno”, ha commentato.

Strijbos to continue in MXGP
Former world championship runner-up Kevin Strijbos has signed to compete in the 2018 MXGP series in a new deal that will soon be announced. The Belgian will leave the works Suzuki set-up – a team with whom he has spent a large majority of his career – and has sourced racing material for the coming season for what will be his fifth squad in sixteen years of Grand Prix racing.
“I will be here one more year so that’s good and I think the news will come out next week,” the 32 year old said at the USGP.
Strijbos missed five grands prix this campaign with an elbow and back problem but has been increasing his competitiveness on the new RM-Z450 to the point that he scored a season-best fifth place in the second moto at WW Motocross Ranch. He won the 2016 Belgian Grand Prix at Lommel.
“It has been a bad year, two bad years actually, and I feel I am not done yet,” #22 said. “Things did not work so well with the team this year because we had a new bike and it was more like a testing season for that. We are improving everything still but it is not easy. I have some speed and have also had some injuries but I still haven’t shown what I am still capable of.”
Kevin is undoubtedly one of the most experienced and oldest riders in MXGP and is renowned for his training dedication and physical fitness. He was talking with Honda and also Kawasaki for 2018 but has also been linked with Standing Construct and their new MXGP unit.
“I’m happy I could find a new team and like I said to them I am not looking for big money I just want a good bike, good team and good people around me to go for it one more year,” he commented.
