(ORLYONOK) Russia, Giugno 2017 – Il GP della Russia, la 10a tappa del Campionato del Mondo FIM Motocross 2017, è da ricordare, in particolare per i vincitori complessivi Clement Desalle di Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team e Pauls Jonass di Red Bull KTM Factory Racing . La coppia di vincitori ha combattuto non solo con il resto del campo, ma con le condizioni difficili del tracciato a causa del meteo avverso.

MXGP RIDERS PODIUM

Clemente Desalle: “Due GP di fila, è davvero bello, tutto deve girare per te in queste condizioni, ma puoi anche cercare la tua fortuna quando sei un buon pilota da fango. Non ho fatto una buona partenza nella prima gara, ero circa settimo ma ho trovato il mio ritmo dopo alcuni giri per finire terzo. Ho cambiato la mia strategia per l’inizio in gara due e ha funzionato bene e ho iniziato secondo. Ho avuto un piccolo incidente nelle wave, ma non ho perso Il mio secondo posto, ho cercato di restare calmo e quando fece l’errore Febvre ho preso il comando e il GP. È importante essere veloci in tutte le condizioni e lo facciamo, la squadra sta lavorando molto bene e cercheremo di mantenere lo slancio in corso “.

Jeffrey Herlings: “È un peccato essere il secondo: è la terza volta quest’anno! Abbiamo fatto qualche miglioramento questo fine settimana e stiamo analizzando molto il tutto. Ho quasi avuto una caduta nella seconda moto, ma la prima è girata bene, ma era così scivolova e qualcuno ha colpito la mia ruota anteriore, sono caduto di nuovo, e poi di nuovo sul secondo giro e sono stato quasi ultimo. Ho pensato che che fosse finito ma abbiamo continuato ad andare e siamo riusciti a ottenere punti sufficienti per il complesso. Penso che abbiamo fatto il meglio della situazione; Non è troppo familiare il fango perché non mi piace! Ma è bene arrivare al podio. Non vedo l’ora di Ottobiano e penso di essere in grado di vincere. ”

Gautier Paulin: “È stato un GP durissimo, e concludere con un altro podio è vitale per il campionato. Ho avuto ottime sensazioni sabato durante le qualifiche: avevo una grande velocità e ho condotto per alcuni giri, concludendo poi al secondo posto. Con il drastico cambiamento delle condizioni del tracciato, le cose erano completamente diverse la domenica. In Gara1 ho faticato a tenere pulita la lente, e questo ha reso tutto ancora più difficile. Partendo male ho dovuto attaccare molto per poter concludere quinto. Poi in Gara2 sono partito bene, e sono risalito fino al quarto posto prima di toccarmi con un pilota più lento. Per fortuna sono riuscito a riprendermi e a chiudere terzo. Nel complesso è stato un weekend positivo, e ho molto apprezzato l’erogazione progressiva della mia Husqvarna in queste condizioni. Questo podio è importante, e di sicuro puntiamo ancora più in alto per i prossimi GP.”

MX2 RIDERS PODIUM

Pauls Jonass: “Ho avuto una sfortuna il sabato che ha significato non avere il miglior cancello oggi e che era così importante su questa pista e nel fango, ma sono ancora riuscito ad avere alcune buone partenze e sono stato nei primi otto e riuscito a salire fino alle prime tre. Sono rimasto scioccato quando ho scoperto che avevo vinto perché non sentivo fosse la mia corsa ed è stato così fantastico. Questa gara è stata dura e è il tipo di gara dove si può vincere o perdere molto; Non ho vinto molto in termini di campionato, ma è stato importante prendere qualcosa. Non ho commesso grossi errori e sono rimasto calmo in entrambe le manche. Un grande grazie anche alla squadra perché la moto ha funzionato in condizioni molto pesanti “.

Jeremy Seewer: “L’intero weekend mi sono sentito bene, la pista è cool ma poi la pioggia ha cominciato a cadere molto di più di quanto ci aspettassimo, che ha reso tutta la gara un po’ una lotteria. È sempre così nel fango e la fortuna è una grande parte del risultato. Nella prima ho avuto un cattivo inizio e alcuni problemi di occhiali e mentre guidavo bene, è stato difficile recuperare come una volta che si è dietro un pilota si è spruzzati e non è molto sano per i tuoi occhi. Nella seconda ho appena cercato di sopravvivere e fortunatamente ha ottenuto un buon inizio e sono riuscito ad uscire bene alla prima curva in terza posizione prima che i ragazzi davanti hanno commesso qualche errore. La pista era così distrutta, soprattutto davanti alla corsia boz, quindi è stato difficile leggere ciò che è stato scritto, così non sapevo nemmeno che avevo vinto. Non ero sicuro se Benoit Paturel fosse caduto o no perché non l’ho visto e mi sono concentrato proprio sulla mia corsa e poi mi hanno detto che ho quasi passato tutti. Ero abbastanza sconvolto. Il secondo è abbastanza decente, non abbiamo perso molti punti ma naturalmente l’obiettivo è quello di guadagnare punti contro Pauls Jonass ma ha fatto bene oggi e non è facile batterlo, ma non stiamo rinunciando e andiamo a fare il nostro meglio per farlo accadere nei prossimi round “.

Antonio Cairoli: ““Penso di poter dire che questo weekend è stato buono. Mi ero preparato per questo circuito guardando alcuni veideo, ma non è uno dei miei preferiti…..Ho fatto qualche errore, a volte per i doppiati, ma la pista era davvero insidiosa ed ho dovuto guidare con molta attenzione. Ero un po ‘preoccupato dalla pioggia della mattina perché per il mio ginocchio sinistro non un bene il fango come questo e ho anche sentito che mettere il piede giù con tanto peso sulla moto può essere un grande shok, così ho preso meno rischi. In gara uno sono partito primo e solo nel finale mi ha superato Herlings, ma è stata una manche positiva. In gara due la gomma ha pattinato sulla griglia di partenza, sporca di fango, ed alla prima curva ho rischiato anch’io di finire a terra per il contatto con altre moto. Nel finale per evitare un doppiato sono caduto in un canale ed ho perso una posizione e la possibilità di recuperare su Jasikonis e Glenn (Coldenhoff), erano ormai vicini. Peccato, il podio non era lontano. Ora pensiamo ad Ottobiano, una pista che mi piace e dove mi aspettano molti tifosi”.”

Max Anstie: “Nonostante le condizioni difficili, questo è stato un buon weekend. Dopo essere rimasto in lotta per la seconda posizione fino alla fine, sono riuscito a realizzare il mio miglior piazzamento stagionale con il quarto posto complessivo. Ho corso un’ottima prima manche nel fango e sotto la pioggia. Nonostante mi sia dovuto fermare per cambiare la maschera e i guanti, ho continuato ad attaccare e realizzato dei bei sorpassi, tagliando il traguardo in terza piazza. Poi in Gara2 ho trovato un’ottima partenza e sono rimasto terzo per quasi tutta la manche. Dopo aver accumulato un vantaggio di 20 secondi sul quarto, ho fatto un errore e sono caduto all’ultimo giro, il che mi ha fatto poi concludere quinto. Ma sono soddisfatto di dove siamo ora. Abbiamo mostrato che la velocità c’è anche in condizioni difficili, e ci daremo da fare per arrivare ancora più avanti.”

Max Nagl: “In questo weekend ho fatto del mio meglio. Nella manche di qualificazione ho avuto un buon feeling con la moto, e ho attaccato per passare in testa. Tutto stava andando bene ed ero secondo, quando sono caduto pesantemente e mi sono fatto male al polso sinistro. Con tutta quella pioggia caduta la domenica mattina, è stata dura anche solo finire le due manche. In Gara1 c’era tantissima acqua in pista e dovevi fare molta attenzione a evitare errori e tenere pulita la maschera. Partendo fuori dalla top 10, sono riuscito a ottenere l’ottavo posto. Poi in Gara2 la pista in alcuni punti era letteralmente distrutta, sembrava più un grande enduro test. Con l’undicesima piazza di Gara2 lascio la Russia con un decimo posto, di cui sono soddisfatto.”

Arminas Jasikonis: “E ‘stato bello e brutto, la differenza tra la pista di ieri e poi oggi. È piovuto così duramente per circa due ore e ha reso la pista così difficile. La prima corsa non era troppo male perché il fango non era così appiccicoso, per cui le moto non erano così pesanti. Sono partito per una buona partenza in quella gara e dopo il primo giro ero circa sesto, ma ho dovuto uscire nella corsia dei box perché ho avuto qualche difficoltà con i miei occhiali. Ho cambiato i miei occhiali e sono stato in grado di finire settimo che era abbastanza buono. Nella seconda moto ho avuto una grande rotazione della ruota sulla griglia di partenza, perciò sono stato ultimo ma ho fatto un giro molto veloce senza errori ed ero già all’ottavo. Nella manche mi sentivo buono e ho preso dei ragazzi; Gautier Paulin si è schiantato davanti a me così ero già al quarto ma poi ho subito commesso un errore e sono caduto. La moto era così pesante da rialzare perché era coperta di fango in modo da non essere in grado di spingere troppo duro e finì al settimo posto di nuovo. Mi sento un po ‘deluso per la seconda moto perché mi sembrava che avrei potuto fare meglio. Voglio ringraziare tutta la squadra però perché devono anche lavorare così duramente in queste condizioni e con tutto questo viaggio anche, quindi un grande grazie a loro “.

Romain Febvre: “Mi sento bene oggi, sono arrivato al quarto, ma mi sono schiantato e i miei occhiali e gli occhi sono stati pieni di acqua e ho dovuto fermarmi. Sono entrato in corsia e con il mio incidente ho perso 1 minuto e 30 secondi, ma sono tornato al decimo: nella seconda moto ho preso l’holeshot e ha condotto l’intera corsa fino a 2 giri e Jeffrey Herlings era davanti, stava ignorando la bandiera blu sulla mia linea, e in un momento sono scivolato e l’ho colpito e sono caduto, quindi sono deluso, ma mi sento bene sulla moto “.

Arnaud Tonus: “Mi sono sentivo bene su questa pista subito e ho vinto la gara di qualificazione. Mi sono sentito a casa su questa pista e ho potuto mostrare la mia velocità e dimostrare che la velocità è lì. Oggi la pista era completamente diversa, Ma anche così, mi sono sentito bene, mi sono appena schiantato nella prima gara e sono tornato al nono. Nella seconda gara ho bloccato la moto in un punto e sono tornato al quarto posto. Mi sento bene e spero di portare questa velocità al prossimo grand prix “.

Evgeny Bobryshev: ho trovato veramente duro soprattutto dopo tutta la pioggia che avevamo. La pista era molto fangosa e divenne un disastro cercando di scegliere linee buone. La prima gara ho avuto un buon inizio, ma poi ho avuto un problema con i mie occhiali e ho dovuto fermarmi nella corsia dei box nel secondo giro, il che significava perdere molto tempo e posti. Poi, quando sono entrato in un ritmo, ho avuto problemi con i miei guanti e ho dovuto fermarmi di nuovo. Ho perso così tanto tempo con quello e sono finito al 13 °. Nella seconda gara ho avuto un inizio veramente difettoso, sono rimasto ultimo alla porta. Sono tornato con la sensazione abbastanza forte e sentirmi bene con la moto. Ho trovato delle buone linee e sono riuscito a passare dall’ultima posizione all’ottavo. Nell’ultimo giro, ho commesso un errore e sono caduto sulla spalla che non è stato così buono e ha ottenuto il 10 ° posto. Non mi aspettavo di tornare qui e di essere in cima, la mia condizione è ancora debole. Sono contento che non è successo niente con la mia clavicola e posso continuare a lavorare duro e tornare ad essere il 100%. Ho raccolto punti che mi servivano e da quel momento devo solo andare avanti.

Michele Cervellin: Oggi è stata una gara veramente strana. Il tempo lo ha reso strano per cominciare, dato che non abbiamo cavalcato in condizioni come quelle di quest’anno, dove piove intensamente tutta la gara. Il mio inizio non era così male, ma poi ho fatto un piccolo errore mentre sono salito sulla collina. Dopo essere tornato nuovamente, mi sono schiantato di nuovo, ho sentito un dolore nel braccio ma non ho pensato molto e ho finito la gara. Quando ho finito la gara ho notato sangue sulla mia maglia, sono andato a vedere il dottore e mi hanno dato alcuni punti ma mi ha detto che non potevo guidare la seconda Moto perché c’è un elevato rischio di infezione dal fango. Pensavo che questo sarebbe stato un buon fine settimana per me, mentre vado bene con le piste hard pack, ma questo è motocross! Mi sento di avere un paio di corse buone. Ora ho solo bisogno di guarire per prepararsi ad Ottobiano.

Thomas Kjer-Olsen: “Ero carico per la vittoria in Gara1 e speravo di fare altrettanto bene in Gara2. Ho dovuto sudarmela, questa prima vittoria di manche. Quando siamo partiti pioveva molto, per cui partire davanti era cruciale. Riuscendo dopo poche curve a passare in testa, ho spinto al massimo cercando di evitare errori. La mia maschera è rimasta pulita quasi fino al traguardo, il che è stato essenziale per vincere. Le cose poi non sono andate altrettanto bene in Gara2. Poco dopo la partenza mi sono scontrato con Hunter Lawrence, e quando ho ripreso la moto ho visto che la leva del freno anteriore era rotta. È andata così, e ora continueremo a lavorare duro sperando di centrare altre vittorie nelle prossime gare.”

Thomas Covington: “Ho iniziato il weekend in modo positivo, col terzo posto nella manche di qualificazione. Purtroppo la domenica le condizioni erano tutt’altro che ideali, e tutto si è risolto in una lotta per arrivare al traguardo. In Gara1 non sono partito bene, ma ho fatto qualche sorpasso chiudendo nono. Gara2 è stata una vera sfida per tutti. Sono caduto più volte, e ho anche dovuto rientrare a cambiare la maschera. E dopo le cadute, la mia moto aveva raccolto così tanto fango che era diventati impossibile guidarla. Nonostante tutto, abbiamo raccolto 11 punti di campionato, e siamo già concentrati sulla prossima gara a Ottobiano.”

Conrad Mewse: “Per quanto difficili fossero le condizioni, mi sono trovato bene anche la domenica. In Gara1 sono partito male, oltre la ventesima piazza. Cercando di spingere senza fare errori sono riuscito a risalire al tredicesimo posto, che non è niente male. Poi in Gara2 sono partito un po’ meglio, ma mentre lottavo per la top 10 ho visto un altro pilota piantarsi davanti a me in una delle salite più difficili e ho perso un sacco di tempo. Da quel momento è stato difficile continuare. Un GP veramente duro, ma abbiamo comunque ottenuto dodici punti per il campionato. Continuerò ad allenarmi puntando a migliorare.”

Hunter Lawrence: “La prima gara non è stata troppo male, i cieli si sono aperti prima della gara e siamo arrivati e secchiate sulla pista; La pioggia è veramente incredibile. Sono riuscito a finire quarto però, ma dopo aver iniziato a scendere in campo è stata davvero una cosa positiva. La velocità è sicuramente lì, e non mi importava alle condizioni, ma poi è andata molto peggio per la seconda moto. Ancora una volta, non ho fatto una buona partenza. Thomas Kjer Olsen mi ha colpito da dietro nella prima curva ma è sempre un caos al primo turno quindi non posso davvero biasimarlo. Dopo aver finalmente ripreso, sono tornato al quarto molto rapidamente e sono andato bene. Poi un altro pilota si è schiantato nella rotaia principale che stavo usando ed era solo incredibilmente fangoso e appiccicoso là fuori. L’ho lasciata lì e poi ho dovuto prendere la mia moto che era così, così, pesante con tutto il fango. Ho finalmente liberato la moto ma è stato così difficile girare l’acceleratore con tutto il fango sulla moto. Continuai a guidare però e alla fine sono tornato a casa al 11 ° posto, ma credo che possa essere stato meglio “.

David Herbreteau: “Era un bel fine settimana. Quando sono venuto qui mi è piaciuta immediatamente la pista e sabato ho segnato buoni risultati in entrambe le sessioni di allenamento. Nella qualifica ho avuto un buon inizio e sono riuscito a finire l’ottavo, che era buono. Ho avuto una grande sensazione con la moto e la pista, ma oggi era diverso dopo tanta pioggia nella notte. Nella prima moto ho avuto un inizio molto brutto e sono tornato al decimo, quindi sono stato contento di questo primo risultato decimo della mia carriera. Il mio secondo inizio è stato molto meglio; Sono stato terzo e poi quinto, ma sono caduti davanti a me. Dopo era disstrutta la pista; Ho dovuto cambiare i miei guanti tre volte e due volte i miei occhiali per cui ho finito solo quindicesimo per il tredicesimo complessivo. Ma è ancora il mio miglior GP, anche se la seconda moto era una sorta di lotteria con il fango. Darian Sanayei: “Sabato era abbastanza buono. Il tempo e tutto è stato davvero bello in Russia, ma nella gara di qualificazione ho fatto un inizio davvero brutto prima di tornare al dodicesimo con una sensazione piuttosto buona sulla moto. C’era tanta pioggia nella notte e la pista era già molto fangosa per il warm-up, e poi una grande tempesta è tornata di nuovo e stava piovendo tanto durante la prima gara. Mi sono schiantato proprio all’inizio della gara; La pista non era così pessima, ma le canale erano piene d’acqua; Mi sono fermato troppe volte nei box per cambiare occhiali o guanti, e ho finito solo diciottesimo. Per la seconda gara la pioggia si fermò, ma la pista era fango pesante e mi sono schiantato da un salto. La moto era bloccata per forse cinque o sei minuti; Alla fine non avevo alcuna energia per uscire dal fango. Finalmente l’ho gestita; Continuai a correre e come tanti ragazzi si sono schiantati ho finito al tredicesimo. MXGP PODIUM

Clement Desalle: “Two in a row; that’s really nice. Everything has to run for you in these conditions, but you can also make your own luck when you are a good mud rider. I didn’t make a good start in the first race and was around seventh but I found my rhythm after a few laps to finish third. I changed my strategy for the start in race two and it worked well as I started second. I had one small crash in the waves but I did not lose my second place; I tried to stay calm and when Febvre crashed I took the moto and the GP. It’s important to be fast in all conditions and we are doing that; the team is working really well and we will try to keep the momentum going.”

Jeffrey Herlings: “It is a pity to be second: it is the third time this year! We made some improvements this weekend and have been analysing a lot. I almost had the holeshot in the second moto but the first turn was so slick and someone hit my front wheel, I went down again, and then again on the second lap and I was almost dead-last. I thought ‘it’s over’ but we kept going and managed to get enough points for the overall. I think we made the best of the situation; I’m not too familiar with mud because I don’t like it too much! But it is good to get on the podium. I’m looking forward to Ottobiano and I think I am capable of winning there.”

Gautier Paulin: “It was a tough GP so to get one more podium result is vital for the championship. I had a great feeling during qualifying on Saturday. My speed was great and I found myself leading for a few laps before finishing second. With weather conditions changing dramatically on Sunday, things were completely different for the final motos. In moto one I struggled to keep my goggles clean and that made things even harder. Not getting a decent start I had to push hard to get fifth at the end. Then in moto two I had a good start and worked my way through to fourth before crashing with a slower rider. Luckily, I managed to pick myself up and get third in moto two. Overall, it’s been a positive weekend and I really liked the progressive power of my Husqvarna in these conditions. Getting a podium result was important and surely we’re looking for more in the coming GPs.”

MX2 RIDERS PODIUM

Pauls Jonass: “I had some bad luck on Saturday which meant I didn’t have the best gate pick today and that was so important on this track and in the mud but I still managed to have some good starts and was inside the top eight-ten and was able to climb my way up to the top three. I was shocked when I found out I’d won the overall because I didn’t feel my riding was that great. This race was tough and it is the sort of one where you can win or lose a lot; I didn’t win a lot [in terms of the championship] but it was important to take something. I didn’t make any big mistakes and stayed calm in both motos. A big thanks to the team as well because the bike worked great in conditions that were really heavy.”

Jeremy Seewer: “The whole weekend I felt good, the track was cool but then the rain started to fall a lot more than we expected, which made the whole race a bit of a lottery. It’s always like that in the mud and luck is a big part of the result. In the first moto I had a bad start and some google issues and while it was ok to ride, it was tough to catch up as once you got behind a rider you got splashed and it’s not very healthy for your eyes. In the second moto I just tried to survive and luckily got a good start and came around the first corner in third before the guys in front made some mistakes. The track was so bad, especially in front of the pit lane so it was hard for me to read what was written so I didn’t even know I had won. I wasn’t sure if Benoit Paturel had crashed out or not because I couldn’t see that and I was just so focused on my riding and then they told me that I nearly lapped everyone. I was pretty shocked with that.  Second overall is decent enough, we didn’t lose too many points but of course the goal is to gain points against Pauls Jonass but he did well today and it’s not easy to beat him, but we’re not giving up and we’re going to try our best to make it happen in the next rounds.”

Brian Bogers: 

OTHER RIDERS

Antonio Cairoli: “This weekend was quite good and I prepared for this track by watching some videos and stuff; it wasn’t really my favourite. I was a bit worried with the rain this morning because my left knee is not so well in mud like this and I also felt that putting my foot down with so much weight [on the bike] it can be a big sketchy so I took it very easy. I had a great start in the first moto and led for twenty minutes until Jeffrey passed me; second place was OK. I slipped on the start grill in the second moto and someone hit me and I almost crashed close to Jeffrey. There was a little bit of drama at the start of the race but I got up to eighth and then crashed with another rider in a rut and hit my knee a bit. I was a little disappointed but I am pleased about the championship [situation] at the moment and now we go to Ottobiano which is a track I really like.”

Max Anstie: “It’s been a good weekend for me despite tough conditions. Battling for the runner-up spot until the last few laps, I managed to earn my best result for the season with fourth overall. I had a strong moto one in the mud and the rain. Despite coming out into the pits to replace my goggles and gloves I kept pushing and made some good passes for fourth at the line. Then in moto two I had a great start and was racing in third place for most of the moto. Building a 20-seconds gap to fourth I made a mistake and crashed on the last lap and that eventually dropped me to fifth. I’m happy with where we’re at right now. We showed the speed is there despite tough conditions and we’ll keep working hard to do even better.”

Max Nagl: “I did my best this weekend. I had a good feeling on the bike so pushed hard for the lead in the qualifying race. Everything was going well and I was racing in second place before suffering a big crash that caused some pain on my left wrist. With all that rain falling on Sunday morning it was a big struggle even to finish each moto. In moto one there was so much water in the track and you had to be extra cautious to avoid mistakes and keep your goggles clean. Starting from outside the top 10, I managed to get an eighth place result. Then in moto two the track was destroyed in some parts and it all looked like a big, extreme enduro test. Getting 11th in moto two I finished this tough GP in 10th place and I’m happy about that.”

Arminas Jasikonis: “It’s was day and night, the difference between the track yesterday and then today. It’s rained so hard for about two hours and made the track so tricky. The first race wasn’t too bad as the mud wasn’t so sticky yet so the bikes weren’t so heavy. I got off to an ok start in that race and after the first lap I was around sixth but I had to pull into the pit lane because I had some trouble with my goggles. I changed my goggles and was still able to finish seventh which was quite good.  In the second moto I had a big wheel spin on the starting mesh, so I was dead last but I made a really fast first lap with no mistakes and I was already up to around eighth. In the moto I was feeling good and catching guys; Gautier Paulin crashed in front of me so I was already up to fourth but then I immediately made a mistake and fell over. The bike was so heavy to pick up because it was just covered in mud so after that I wasn’t really able to push too hard and ended up in seventh place again. I feel a bit disappointed about the second moto because I felt like it could have been so good. I want to thank all the team though because they also have to work so hard in these conditions and with all this travel too, so a big thanks to them.”

Thomas Kjer-Olsen: “I was stoked to get the win in moto one and was hoping to do equally well in moto two. I had to dig deep for that first moto win. It was raining very heavily when we started the race so it was crucial to get a good start. Getting the lead a few corners later, I pushed hard trying to avoid mistakes. My goggles kept me good almost all the way to the finish line and that was crucial to get the win. Things didn’t go that well in moto two. Soon after the start I had we crashed together with Hunter Lawrence and when I picked my bike up I saw that the front brake lever was broken. It is what it is I guess and we will continue working hard hoping for some more victories in the races to come.”

Thomas Covington: “I started the weekend on a good note with third in the qualifying race. Unfortunately, conditions were far from ideal during the final motos and it all ended up being a big struggle to reach the finish. In moto one my start wasn’t great but I made up a few spots to cross the line in ninth place. Moto two was a huge challenge for everybody. I had a few crashes during the race and even came into the pits to change goggles. After hitting the ground a few times my bike had picked up so much mud it was almost impossible to ride. Despite all that struggle it was good to collect 11 points for the championship and we’re already looking forward to the following GP in Ottobiano.”

Hunter Lawrence: “The first race wasn’t too bad, the skies opened up before the race and we were getting hammered on the track; the rain really was unbelievable. I was able to finish fourth though which after starting off well down the field is really a positive thing. The speed is definitely there, and I didn’t mind the conditions, but then it got much worse for the second moto. Again, I wasn’t off to a good start. Thomas Kjer Olsen hit me from behind in the first corner but it’s always chaos in the first turn so I can’t really blame him. After finally getting going, I got back up to fourth very quickly and was riding well. Then another rider was crashed in the main rut that I was using and it was just unbelievably muddy and sticky out there. I dropped it there and then had to pick up my bike which was just so, so, heavy with all the mud on there. I finally got the bike up but it was just so hard to twist the throttle with all the mud on the bike. I kept riding though and eventually came home in 11th place, but I definitely feel it could have been better.”

Conrad Mewse: “Despite difficult conditions I felt good during Sunday. In moto one I had a bad start outside the top 20. Trying to ride fast while avoiding mistakes I managed to get as high as 13th and that was good. Then in the second moto my start was a bit better but as I was battling for the top 10 I saw another rider getting stuck in front of me in one of the most difficult uphill sections of the track and I lost a lot of time there and was hard to continue. It was a really tough GP but we managed to salvage twelve points for the championship. I will continue working hard hoping for better results in the next races.”

David Herbreteau: “It was a nice weekend. When I came here I immediately liked the track and on Saturday I posted good results in both practice sessions. In the qualifying moto I had a good start and managed to finish eighth, which was good. I had a great feeling with the bike and the track, but today was different after so much rain in the night. In the first moto I had a very bad start and came back to tenth so I was happy with that first top ten result of my career. My second start was much better; I was third and then fifth but crashed in front of the pit lane. After it was messy; I had to change my gloves three times and twice my goggles twice so I only finished fifteenth for thirteenth overall. But still it’s my best-ever GP, even if the second moto was a kind of lottery with the mud. This GP was a special one for me, as I had a very great relationship with Steven Lenoir who passed away last week; I had a lot of thoughts for him during the weekend, and tried to ride smart as I didn’t want to crash. I feel really bad, and I feel that the other riders were affected by this drama as they were more patient this weekend.”
 
Darian Sanayei: “Saturday was pretty good. The weather and everything was really nice here in Russia but in the qualifying race I made a really bad start before coming back to twelfth with a pretty good feeling on the bike. There was so much rain in the night and the track was already really muddy for the warm-up, and then a big storm came again and it was raining so much during the first race. I crashed right at the beginning of the race; the track was not so bad but the ruts were full of water; I stopped too many times in the pits to change goggles or gloves, and finished only eighteenth. For the second race the rain stopped but the track was heavy mud and I crashed when landing from a jump. The bike was stuck for maybe five or six minutes; in the end I had no energy to take it out of the mud. Finally I managed it; I just continue to ride and as so many guys crashed I finished thirteenth. It was a bad weekend, but at least I took some points and now after this difficult weekend I’m looking forward to the next GP.”
