KEN DEDYCKER INTERVIEW – I’ m back to race in GP

Scritto lunedì 10 Aprile 2017 alle 12:09.

Intervista by Ryan Introvigne

Buona lettura!

Ciao Keeno, come stai? Come procede il programma di allenamento?
Ciao, sto bene e l’allenamento sta andando bene.

Oppure preferiresti ritirarti e fare altro?
Vedremo come andrà quest’anno.

Hello Keeno, how are you? How is the training program going?

I feel good, training is going well.I took my time to start slowly with some small races to take some race-rhythm.

Do you feel to be back at 100% speed and fitness like the old times or do you think you have to work a bit more to reach that goal?
I am ok but it’s hard to say where i am at this time because i don’t know the speed of the other MXGP riders, so the first races we’ll see where i stand.

You and the team are busy in testing the last solutions for the upcoming GP in Arco, where your season officially starts. Tell us about which parts you choose to race with.
The mechanic made a good moto for me and i feel comfortable on it. I’m using WP Suspension that are really good and i would like to thank Johan Boonen, Stop & Go and WP Austria.

You’ve been racing some regional events, what was the first feeling to be back racing in good shape since, we can say, MXON 2015, because last year you almost didn’t race..
That’s something i don’t know yet, i feel good but the first races will tell and i will use them to get more rhythm and to show my very best. I have been training alone all the time but racing is different. I am at 80% now i guess.

This weekend you raced the Belgian Championship in Mons, tell us about the race.
It went good. In first moto i had the holeshot and then i had to let Jeremy pass, i finished in second position. While in second moto i started in third position and overtook immediately for second, but i suffered a bit of arm pump and couldn’t hold and finished in 3rd behind Jeremy and Damon. Overall i finished 2nd and i’m quite satisfied because i’ve been racing with a semi-stock bike about engine and many other parts. In Arco i will have the race bike and it could only be better!

The RMZ 450 has been completely renewed for 2018 as we saw for the factory team. Before that, the rmz had only minor changes. If you had to compare your current RMZ with the Factory one that you rode in 08′-09′, what would be the major differences?
That’s hard to say, we are 10 years later and back then i was racing for the Factory Team,so we had all the materials, bikes, suspensions, spare parts…now i have to do almost everything by myself and i am with a smaller team so it’s pretty different, but i still feel good on that Suzuki like back in the days and the bike itself is almost the same.It was good back then and it’s good now.

Riding and training with Giuseppe and Emil has been a motivation for you to be better and to recover against these “young guns”? Do you share informations and advises or everyone is doing his own thing?
It is nice to ride with them and i help or give advices to the young ridersif  i can. It’s nice to share your experience and work in a team.

What do you think of them? They have the potentials to make it to the upper half of the standings? Both Giuseppe and Emil seems like promising riders.
With the right people and trainers behind them, they have some potentials. But motocross is harder now than back then. Everybody is training harder and has good materials etc..

Looking to the future, do you have  an interest or would you go for an Enduro season or do you prefer to retire and do something else?
We will see what this year will bring. Motocross is a big part of my life and i am open to all the opportunities in MX, time will tell us.
But apart of that i have some ideas to start on my own business, for example a crossfit center or a Coffee/Bar .
