TOMAC BACK IN CHARGE AS SUPERCROSS DAZZLES TORONTO
Monster Energy AMA Supercross ha fatto la sua unica deviazione sulla mappa degli Stati Uniti lo scorso fine settimana e il Rogers Centre di Toronto, Canada ha visto più di 49.000 fan assaporare la nona prova delle diciassette nella corsa al titolo 2017. Monster Energy Kawasaki Eli Tomac ha afferrato la prima vittoria della sua squadra presso la sede dal 2013 e la sua quarta del presente campionato; sparando indietro sulla principale minaccia del campionato Ryan Dungey dopo che aveva governato Atlanta il fine settimana precedente.
Tomac ha stabilito il suo passo sulla KX450F dal primo giro del Main Event quando ha superato l’holeshotter Blake Baggett e ha proceduto a costruire un margine di gara conquistando il divario per il podio. Dungey, rimontando da una top ten, alla fine ha spinto fino al secondo posto, dopo alcune mosse di sorpasso attraverso una pista piena di insidie ed è diventata più difficile ad ogni giro che passava.
Tomac è già il pilota di maggior successo di questa stagione come la serie nella seconda metà del calendario implacabile. Il suo guadagno canadese – su quello che era il campionato al Rogers Centre – gli ha permesso di prendere soli tre punti di distanza dal vantaggio di Dungey in cima alla classifica; il divario è ora di 24 punti con 200 punti ancora da giocare.
“Stasera è stato grande,” Eli Tomac # 3, ha detto. “Ovviamente questo è il risultato che vogliamo e i punti di cui abbiamo bisogno. Mi sono sentito molto forte in gara, mi sarebbe piaciuto guardare indietro qua e là per vedere se avevo bisogno di accelerare il passo o rimanere costante e avere quel controllo, è una grande sensazione. La pista era, ancora una volta, molto dura e sono davvero felice di venire via con la vittoria. “
Yamaha Chad Reed, che ha vinto a Toronto nel 2008 e quando la città divenne un appuntamento annuale nel calendario supercross, ha riacquistato forma e fiducia con una forte quarta posizione mentre Suzuki Justin Barcia ha preso i suoi primi passi verso un ‘ritorno’ al supercross dopo l’infortunio con una top ten al nono.
Nella terza uscita per la regione 250SX Oriente Zach Osborne è stato ancora una volta il pilota per la cattura, una settimana dopo l’ex stella MXGP ha conquistato il suo primo trionfo della carriera. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki con il secondo posto e una celebrazione podio per Adam Cianciarulo. Le prestazioni e il premio in parte ha contribuito a cancellare alcuni dei ricordi dolorosi delle lesioni e battute d’arresto che il giovane talento ha subito negli ultimi tre anni.
“Questo è davvero un buon passo per me”, ha detto AC. “E ‘stata una notte in cui non mi sentivo necessariamente il mio migliore, quindi sono contento del risultato finale. Ho passato un sacco di difficoltà per tornare qui, quindi sono entusiasta e grato di essere qui “.
L’iconico Daytona Raceway metterà in scena il decimo round del 2017 la pista per il prossimo fine settimana.

Monster Energy AMA Supercross made its sole deviation from the map of the United States last weekend and the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada saw more than 49,000 fans soak up round nine of seventeen in the close 2017 chase for the title. Monster Energy Kawasaki athlete Eli Tomac grabbed his team’s first win at the venue since 2013 and his fourth of the present campaign; firing back on principal championship threat Ryan Dungey after the reigning number one had ruled Atlanta the previous weekend.
Tomac established his pace on the KX450F from the first lap of the Main Event when he overtook holeshotter Blake Baggett and proceeded to build a race-winning margin over the squabble for lower podium positions. Dungey, recovering from a top ten getaway, eventually pushed up to second spot after some shrewd moves across a track that wore down and became rougher with every passing lap.
Tomac is already the most successful rider this season as the series edges into the second half of the relentless calendar. His Canadian gain – on what was the championship’s twelfth visit to the Rogers Centre – allowed him to shave just three points away from Dungey’s lead at the top of the standings; the gap is now 24 points with 200 still to play for.
“Tonight was great,” #3 said. “Obviously this is the result we want and the points we need. I felt really strong in the race, I’d look back here-and-there to see if I needed to pick up the pace or stay consistent and to have that control is a great feeling. The track was, once again, really tough and I’m really happy to come away with the win.”
Yamaha’s Chad Reed, who was victorious in Toronto back in 2008 and when the city became an annual fixture in the supercross calendar, regained some form and confidence with a strong fourth position while Suzuki’s Justin Barcia took his first steps towards a ‘return’ to supercross prominence after injury with a top ten result in ninth.
In the third outing for the 250SX East region Zach Osborne was once again the rider to catch, one week after the former MXGP star clinched his first career triumph. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki were buoyed with second place and a podium celebration for Adam Cianciarulo. The performance and prize partially helped to erase some of the painful memories of injury and setbacks the talented youngster has suffered in the past three years.
“This is a really good step for me,” AC said. “It was a night where I didn’t necessarily feel my best so I’m happy with the end result. I’ve gone through a lot to get back here so I’m stoked and thankful to be here.”
The iconic Daytona Raceway will stage round ten of the 2017 trail next weekend.
