Quando i cancelli scendono per la prima volta in questa stagione, il campione in carica Tim Gajser rivendicare un holeshot stretto su Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Antonio Cairoli. Dietro di loro è stato il neo pilota Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Gautier Paulin. La pressione è stata messa su Paulin per tutta la gara con il pilota russo del team HRC Evgeny Bobryshev. Tuttavia, il russo sentiva il calore dall’ ex campione del mondo Yamaha MXGP Romain Febvre.

Febvre sembrava stesse andando a fare una mossa, ma ha finito per andare in terra, invece, è stato comunque in grado di rimontare e finire 7 °. Sostituisce la sua posizione 5 ° da Yamaha MXGP Jeremy Van Horebeek.

Nel frattempo, la KTM di Cairoli stava guadagnando terreno su Tim Gajser, e ancora di più dopo un paio di errori dal pilota Honda. I die piloti erano vicini, ma al traguardo Tim Gajser è stato quello in grado di venire via con la pole position.

Il Rookies Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Max Anstie e Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jeffrey Herlings sono finiti fuori dalla Top 5, date uno sguardo ai risultati e state pronti per venire Sabato.

GP of Qatar MX2 Qualifying Best Moment 2017

Per l’inizio della gara MX2 di qualifica le due moto della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing di Pauls Jonass e Jorge Prado Garcia si sono lanciate fuori dalla nuova griglia di partenza, ma l’holeshot è andato alla TM Racing Factory Team di Samuele Bernardini. L’italiano è stato seguito dalla KTM di Jonass e Prado, ma la coppia di compagni di squadra è stata divisa nella seconda curva dal francese Benoit Paturel del Kemea Yamaha MX squadra ufficiale.

Prado ha continuato ad essere mescolato di nuovo mentre il suo compagno di squadra ha cercato un modo per aggirare Bernardini.

Suzuki World MX2 Jeremy Seewer si porta in quarta, mentre Jonass e la sua KTM sono stati in grado di trovare un varco e prendere il comando. Bernardini ha cominciato a perdere terreno poco dopo ed è stato superato da Paturel poi Seewer. L’italiano finisce 21 °.

Alla bandiera a scacchi, è stato Pauls Jonass che accende le fiamme per la prima volta quest’anno prima di Paturel e Seewer. Prado riuscito a finire al quarto mentre il giovane australiano della Suzuki MX2 Hunter Lawerence ha completato i primi cinque.

Gajser & Jonass strike first in Qatar Qualification

LOSAIL (Qatar), 24 February 2017 – Year after year the FIM Motocross World Championship opener is one of the most exciting races of the season. So far, it’s Team HRC’s Tim Gajser and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s  Pauls Jonass who have felt the excitement racing through the night skies here in Losail when they both won their respective qualifying races.

 

When the gates dropped for the first time this season, the reigning champion Tim Gajser shot out of them to claim a narrow holeshot over Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli. Behind them was the newly appointed Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider Gautier Paulin. Pressure was put on Paulin throughout the race via Team HRC’s Russian rider Evgeny Bobryshev. However, the Russianwas also feeling heat from the former champion Monster Energy Yamaha MXGP’s Romain Febvre.

Febvre looked like he was going to make a move but ended up going down instead, he was however able to remount and finish 7th. Replacing his 5th place position was Wilvo Yamaha MXGP’s Jeremy Van Horebeek.

Meanwhile, up front the KTM of Cairoli was gaining ground on Tim Gajser, and even more so after a few mistakes from Honda RiderAs the race came to a close things were tight between the two, but at the finish Tim Gajser was the one able to come away with pole position.

Rookies Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Max Anstie and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings whom both finished outside the Top 5 look from better results to come on Saturday.

To start the MX2 qualifying race the two Red Bull KTM Factory Racing bikes of Pauls Jonass and Jorge Prado Garcia launched off the new starting grid but the holeshot went to TM Racing Factory Team’s Samuele Bernadini. The Italian was followed by the KTM’s with Jonass leading Prado but the pair of teammates was split in the second corner by the Frenchman Benoit Paturel from Kemea Yamaha MX Official Team.

Prado continued to be shuffled back while his teammate looked for a way around Bernardini.

Suzuki World MX2’s Jeremy Seewer moved into fourth while Jonass and his KTM were able to find an opening and take the lead. Bernadini began to loose ground shortly after and was passed by Paturel then Seewer. The italian would finish 21st.

At the checkered flag, it was Pauls Jonass who lit the candles for the first time this year ahead of Paturel andSeewerPrado managed to finish in fourth while young Australian Suzuki World MX2’s Hunter Lawerence rounded out the top five.
